Tested the Melee Sentinel idea. Looks like I got all the basics. Thinking of Ash + Garrus for an ideal squad. Ash's Inferno grenades will deal with armor, both would have Concussive Shot to detonate my Overloads, Garrus will have Proximity Mine for extra tough enemies. Thoughts? ![]()

Cool. So this is melee-focused but not melee-only, correct?
I wonder if double chain overload would be better for more enemy staggers, if you want to focus on melee and not shield stripping.
I notice you are using shield recharge armor chest and helmet instead of more melee. I suppose that makes sense if you are not going pure melee-only.
I wonder if Cryo Blast would be more of a help or a hindrance. Frozen enemies tend to fall over which can screw up melee. But also, frozen enemies do not shoot making it easier to run in.
Kinda sucks that the Sentinel does not get a Melee bonus at rank 5 in Fitness like the other classes; it would improve its melee capabilities.

A side quest here, side quest there... Grabbed Tali... Locked in romance...
Whole Casino infiltration could be summed up like this:
"Please do not touch the waterfall."
"Please keep your hands out of the water."
"The fountain is decorative. Do not touch."
"Fine. You know what? It's hanar urinal. Knock yourself out."
If I could, I would spend way too much time in Citadel Archives. My favourite records are two directly connected to Shepard: Battle of the Citadel (love how VI recognizes both Shepard's and - if present - VS' Spectre status) and Shepard's record (why M-76 Revenant of all weapons?).
Brooks speaking directly to Garrus was a surprise, especially since it's not the first time I took Garrus on this part of mission (I must have missed that previously).
Clone fight was interesting. I don't remember killing Brooks so many times. Normally I don't bother with her, but she sometimes got caught up in my Charge/Nova and well... I had a shotgun... *cough* In the end both Brooks and CloneShep died.

Yes, melee only would be quite hard to pull off against Banshees (tried that today and it sucks
). I went for shield regen armor pieces which match well with regen bonuses from Fortification and Fitness making shields recover very fast after being depleted - it is important to stay mobile and not to get pinned by the enemy.
Fitness bonus sucks but on the other hand, you get extra damage protection which helps when running around the battlefield. And heavy melee one hit kills unshielded mooks anyway
I circumvent loss of damage by purging Fortification.
I tested Cryo Blast, but I'm not really sure of the results. On one hand, it does help to immobilize enemies. On the other hand, you can't effectively melee them when they are frozen and taking Cryo Blast also takes away my detonator power which makes bosses a pain to deal with. Though maybe I took the wrong squad? I had Garrus and EDI with me. I also kinda dread playing Grissom Academy with this character with Cryo Blast and not fully leveled powers... ![]()
I also tested Throw but ended up not liking it much, guess I had enough of biotics during my last playthrough ![]()
As for double chain, I'm not sure if that would be enough. I don't put points in Offensive Mastery so I don't get power damage bonuses from that and from armor. The Overload might end up quite weak without Shield Damage evolution at rank 6.

So today I finally imported David Shepard (Slam Engineer) into Mass Effect 3... only to find out that i had forgot to reset his talent points before the import. So I deleted the character slot in ME3 > switched to ME2 > loaded his last save in ME2 > reset his points and made a new save > switched back to ME3 > imported him again. That was kind of annoying.
Still not sure what my final build/playstyle will look like. Right now I am running around with Slam, Overload, and 1-point Drone. I thought about using Cryo Blast instead of Overload, but i think I will get more use out of Overload so it does not overlap with Slam like Cryo Blast kind of does. Not sure if I will keep using the Drone or switch to Sentry Turret later.
And since David Shepard is back, so is more from the journal of David Shepard:
This is my first journal entry in about six months. The Alliance would not let me keep a journal while I was incarcerated. But while I like keeping a journal, I would gladly give it up if it meant the Reapers never arrived.
It has been a long day. I met with the Alliance committee again today, but this did not feel like the other times I met with them. The building was alive with activity and after a brief conversation with Captain Anderson it became clear that the Reapers had begun to arrive. The meeting with the committee soon confirmed it as news reports started coming in, showing the Reapers touching down on Earth and the devastation they wrought. And then all hell broke loose when Reapers touched down near our building and one of them shot at us, destroying the interior and killing most of the people inside. I managed to survive, somehow. I always seem to survive. Not sure if that is a blessing or a curse.
Anderson and I managed to fight our way out to safety and the Normandy picked us up. Well, picked me up. Anderson refused to go, deciding to stay and lead whatever resistance there would be left. He reinstated me to the Alliance and ordered me to go to the Citadel Council and get help. On the way, Admiral Hackett called and ordered us to Mars. Seems Liara T'soni had been working in the old Prothean archives there and may have found a way to stop the Reapers.
We made it to Mars and found Liara. We also found Cerberus. Cerberus troops were there and they had been killing the Alliance personnel found there. Only Liara had managed to survive. I ordered James Vega -- my personal bodyguard/parole officer the past few months -- back to the shuttle while Liara and Kaiden Alenko went to the archives. it was good to have Kaiden back.
Unfortunately, it turns out the Illusive Man wanted the same data we were looking for, but he was convinced it would help him control the Reapers. i would say he was nuts, but you can never tell with that guy. More unfortunately, a Cerberus operative named Dr. Eva Core stole the data and ran off with it. We chased her down, but she nearly escaped in a shuttle before James smashed our shuttle into hers. Most unfortunately, Dr, Eva turned out to be a Cerberus robot which survived the crash and attacked Kaiden, nearly killing him. I managed to disable it and take it with us back to the Normandy for study.
We then went to the Citadel where Kaiden underwent surgery while Liara and I talked to the council. They refused to help us directly -- hard to blame them since the Reapers were beginning to hit them as well -- but they did tell us how we could get help. they were going to put on a war summit with their military leaders and we had to get them cooperating. First stop: pick up the Turian Primarch who was busy fighting on Palaven.
I was very tired and tried to get some sleep, but I only had nightmares. I then met all the new crew. So many new faces. At least Joker was still the pilot and EDI was still installed and operating properly. Not sure how they managed that; I'll have to ask them. And Engineer Adams is back! I also managed to recruit Dr. Chakwas again. Feels good to have some of the original crew back together. I am a sucker for nostalgia.
Specialist Traynor seems like she will fit in well, and Steve Cortez is my new shuttle pilot. He seems a much friendlier sort than the Cerberus guy I used to have; he was not a very chatty person. And James Vega is still a tank in human flesh. We had a friendly sparring match and I won, but I am pretty sure he was holding back; I don't dare try to find out what a punch from him feels like.
I better stop here. I need to prepare for Palaven. I hear the Reapers are hitting there in force.

Today she came very close to just saying hell with it and killing the colonists at Zhu's Hope, but ended up only losing one person. After some thought, she decided that since they were the victims of corporate experimentation, they shouldn't have to pay for it with their lives.
She's pretty heavy on the Renegade side, but again, mostly because of all the yelling and demanding payment. Tomorrow I should finish up ME1, but I plan on doing what I can to get the Negotiation mission. I like that one.

I think I'm going to do my first full playthrough as Renegade-leaning/Renegon. I've only played Paragon and Paragade Shepards and it's time I tried something new. It should be fun
. I'm going to use console commands/cheats to max out her Paragon/Renegade and Charm/Intimidate points, though. I don't like the dialogue restrictions and sometimes I'd like to switch it up depending on the situation and how I'm roleplaying my character.
Lydia Shepard. Earthborn. Sole Survivor. Soldier.
I wanted her to have a femme fatale look- beautiful but deadly

I don't want to kill Wrex, and I plan on sabotaging the Genophage cure in ME3 on this play through, so I think I'm just not going to recruit him. I looked up what happens, and apparently Wrex dies anyway by ME2 if not recruited... but will the game recognize that I didn't recruit him in ME2 and ME3? Just curious.
Wreav will mention his name in ME2 even if Wrex was never recruited.

For now abandoned my ME3 pt in favor of ME1 speedrun. Probably more than one, since I'm not sure what exactly I want to import with this character. I already have one speedrun save with her, but it never hurts to have more with different decisions.
Started as lvl37 Infiltrator. Most of the time I forget to use powers, because Shepard's glued to sniper rifle's visor. Surprisingly, I finished two main worlds (Feros and Noveria) and have yet to die. Now that I said this, I bet I'll die next time I load the game. Probably the stupidest way possible.
Next - Virmire. Then... Either Therum or - if for some reasons I feel like it - BDtS.
Oh and... I probably laughed more than I should. Guess which armor my Shepard was wearing after starting the game? Correct! Phoenix Armor! I don't know why people point out how Miranda's backside suffers from her clothing, when Shepard has to suffer as much with some ME1 armors.

From the journal of David Shepard:
Well, it's happening again. Someone painted a big yellow smiley face on my armor. It's kind of hard to have people take you seriously when your armor says "I'm a goofball." James denies doing it, because of course he does. Joker probably told the crew about how all my old crew used to mess with journal or my armor and whatnot.
Anyway, we landed on Manae, one of Palaven's moons, to pick up the Turian Primarch. Only he was dead and I had to go pick up the new Primarch. If that wasn't bad enough, Joker called and said there was an emergency on the Normandy. Seems EDI and the Normandy's systems were going haywire. Just great.
It took us a while -- it was a long walk -- but James and Liara and I finally made it to the new Primarch, a General Adrian Victus. He was dug in deep and surrounded by Reaper ground forces (abominations, all of them!), but we managed to take the heat off of him and get him out of there.
Seeing Palaven burning and the Reapers in full strength,... I hope we can hold them off long enough to get the Crucible built and win this thing. And I also thought of Garrus. If he was alive, he would probably be kicking all kinds of Reaper ass.
The Primarch says he wants the Krogan at the war summit; he says if the Krogan can take some of the heat off Palaven, the Turians could spare more men and ships for the war. Hoo boy; that's not going to go over very well. And the Asari councilor already declined the meeting and the Salarian Dalatrass is apprarently livid at the suggestion. I hate playing diplomat; I am much better at shooting things.
And we found the source of the Normandy's system troubles: EDI took over that Cerberus robot body we brought on board earlier. Things just got a lot more... interesting, to say the least.
I got to go talk to my crew and get back to the Citadel, as soon as I finish re-painting my armor. It's going to be a long war.

The dialogue is borked in both ME2 and ME3. It will assume he was part of your team. Better to just go ahead and kill him on Virmire. If you don't want Shepard to do it, pick the upper right options ("Calm Down") and Ashley will do it for you.

Thanks for the heads up. I already left the Citadel and finished Therum, but I'll go back and pick up Wrex at Chora's Den. I'd hate for the story to lose its continuity with people talking about me killing the Krogan I bumped into once at C-Sec and told to buzz off.

After dealing with this Ardat-Yakshi Monastery, it was time to check out Traynor's lead about those Cerberus scientists who have cut ties to their former employer. If it's true.
Liara, Ash and I touched down on Gellix and got rid of some Cerberus troops. We found a guy there, shot, and I tried to talk to someone to let us in. She was suspicious and careful, reluctant to open the doors, even with one of her people bleeding out. When we took care of another round of Cerberus mooks, she decided to trust us and opened the door. Dr. Brynn Cole told us about the situation, and we did our best to help. In order to get out all these people, we first had to get the satellite back online. After successfully doing so, we headed for the AA guns to bring them back up, killing more Cerberus troops on our way.
We returned to Dr. Cole and they started to get off people in shuttles. We faced the last Cerberus resistence, but were able to get everyone out safely. I asked Dr. Cole to help with the Crucible, and she happily did. Good, more help is always welcome.

I negotiated with Lord Darius, and didn't realize Hackett wanted me to actually kill the guy. Ha.
With console commands, I was able to max both Paragon and Renegade scores, so I went to Chohe and was able to kill all the biotic extremists without killing any of the drugged scientists. On my first try too. Usually I have some casualties and have to start over.
I went to Luna and shut down EDI and picked the Commando specialization for my Soldier.
I shut down the two crime lords and Renegaded Helena Blake into shutting down the whole operation.
Found Garoth's brother's body and informed him of his death.
Found out Kahoku's men were lured into a thresher maw nest by a distress beacon and killed. Told Kahoku what happened.
Was tricked by Nassana into killing her sister, and went back to the Citadel to collect the reward.
Next steps:
-Help Garrus track down Dr. Saleon
-Help Kahoku investigate Cerberus
