Planned playthroughs coming up:

  • Engineer, full trilogy playthrough. Character already created in ME1 and on the Normandy pre-Eden Prime. ME2 will be 'pro-tech'. Will be an honorary Female Quarian Engineer in ME3 (Sentry Turret, Cryo Blast, Incinerate, and AP Ammo).
  • Infiltrator, full trilogy playthrough. Character already created in ME1 and on the Normandy pre-Eden Prime. ME2 will be 'anti-biotic'. ME2 build will be based on Tony Gunslinger's Agent Infiltrator (Infiltrator with Flashbang). ME3 will probably be a Marksman Sniper Infiltrator.
  • Pistol-SMG Soldier. ME3-only, NG+ with existing Shepard.
  • ME3 NG+ with an existing Infiltrator.
  • Another ME3 NG+ with an existing Infiltrator.
  • ME3 NG+ with an existing Vanguard.

Not sure I will get to all of them. I may take the next few weeks off from playing Mass Effect games to do some other things. I will still be monitoring these forums and contributing occasionally.

I forgot I let Rana Thanoptis go in ME1 so I wasn't too happy when I saw her in the Krogan labs. No option to kill her. Pity.

I remember when I first saw that Quarian ship go by, I stood there more than five minutes, admiring the sight, imagining who live onboard the ship, what'd it be like, what do they see up there. :D

Lorraine Shepard goes to the station based on Legion's directions.  While sneaking into the facility, Legion explained the nature of the geth, though Shepard's anti-geth perspective was unwaivering.  When Lorraine was faced with the choice of reprogramming the geth or destroying all of them, the choice was rather easy.

Spoiler

Back in the Normandy, the geth and quarian struggle was in full force.  Shepard backed Tali, trusting her far more than any stupid robot.

Spoiler

Afterwards, she spoke with Legion to set the record straight.

Spoiler

The Reaper IFF was now finally installed, but needed a test run.  Shepard and crew had to use the shuttle for their next mission, though Lorraine wondered what that mission would be!  "Don't scratch the paint."  Indeed, words to live by.

Spoiler

Little did anyone know that the Reaper IFF was a trap by the Collectors.  They boarded the vessel and kidnapped the entire crew.  The opportunistic AI, EDI convinced Joker to unshackle the AI.  There was likely little he could've done anyway.  EDI flushed out all the collectors in the ship, but the crew was gone.

Spoiler

Miranda was not pleased with all that happened. but Jacob sounded like the more rational guy.  Shepard was more suspicious over EDI than anything else.  The AI was responsible for the IFF and the tin can didn't do a proper job.  That mistake cost her the entire crew.  Nevertheless, they knew where the collectors hid.  It was time to strike.

Spoiler

With the pressures mounting, Jacob decided to pull Shepard aside...

My son made me play Mass Effect Minecraft. I watched a Drell give birth to a fully clothed baby Asari at the alliance base on Mars. Tamed a Varren and fought a husk and then a biotic Wither.

Time to kick the kid off and kick the Geth around the Armax Arena.

It was time for Shepard to strike against the collectors.  The Illusive Man gave Lorraine a pep talk despite their differences.  He respected her, and she... well... The upgraded Normandy went through the Omega 4 Relay and cut through every resistance, especially the collector ship they kept running into.  They were unable to evade the explosive force of the collector ship and the Normandy ended up crashing into the collector base.

Spoiler

Lorraine gathered the crew to plan her attack on the collector base as well as rescue the Normandy's ship crew.  They had deduced that there was a need to infiltrate the ventilation of the collector base but also an away team to get to the central chamber.  Jacob volunteered to be responsible for the hacking.  Despite Miranda's protests, Lorraine listened to the man she shared quarters with.

Spoiler

Lorraine assigned Garrus as the team lead and stressed the importance of this campaign.  They had only shot at this.  There can be no mistakes.

Spoiler

The team was deployed and infiltrated into the collector base.  The resistance was fierce and Jacob had trouble figuring out how to hack through the door panels.  When the team were finally through, the door wouldn't close shut.  Shepard and Jacob forced it, but tragedy struck and Jacob got the worst of it.

Spoiler

Already, the team had suffered a major blow in their operation.  For Shepard, the loss ran deeper than simply a crewman...

Lorraine Shepard and her team found the ship's crew trapped in strange capsules.  There, they witnessed the horror that was unfolding.  The collectors had been abducting humans to process them into a Reaper.  Shepard managed to rescue the crew and all the humans they could save.  Tali was sent to accompany the survivors back to the Normandy while Shepard sets up her team to infiltrate the chambers filled with seeker swarms.

Spoiler

Unlike the first operation, the second op went without a hitch.  Without Jacob, Shepard pinned much of her operation on Garrus.  She was pleased he could get the job done.  As they planned on what to do next, the collector forces were gathering outside, ready to breach and attack.

Spoiler

Lorraine wasn't going to stop now no matter how bad the odds were.  She picked Miranda and Mordin to accompany her as they found the Human Reaper the collectors had been constructing.  Killing Sovereign made humans the target.  The Reapers were likely trying to understand how could Shepard accomplish all the things that she set out to do.  Harbinger was about to find out first hand.

Spoiler

Lorraine destroyed the human Reaper construct and proceeded to set the charges on this place.  The Illusive Man attempted to persuade Shepard to keep the place, but Shepard refused to listen.  After everything that had happened, Lorraine had significant doubts over what the Illusive Man would do to this base.  Deep inside, something else drove Shepard to this decision.

Shepard didn't want to remember this place and all the men and women she had witnessed liquefied for the Reapers' purposes.  Furthermore, she didn't want to remember that she was responsible for Jacob's death, just as she was responsible for Ashley's untimely demise.  Miranda supported her firm decision, choosing to leave Cerberus for good.

Spoiler

The collector base was crumbling fast and its collapse almost claimed Shepard and her team's lives.  With great haste, the team fled for the Normandy while being chased by the collector forces.  Whatever it was Harbinger hoped to learn about the extraordinary capabilities of Shepard and the humans did not materialize.  With no plan against the humans and no other resource to tap, the Reapers had no choice but to strike the Sol System and crush the threat that had stopped Sovereign and the Collectors.
Spoiler

Shepard faced the Illusive Man, their differences becoming a driving wedge between the two.
Spoiler

Lorraine checked on her crew to see everyone was well, all except one.  She didn't even have time to retrieve his body.  The coffin before her was but an empty vessel, just like Ashley's was.
Spoiler

Thane attempted to ease her pains, recognizing what it meant to lose someone she cared for.  He helped her move on and grew to care for her.  Lorraine for a time felt the same for him, but realized that his terminal condition would make her relive the same horrors she went through with Jacob.  They were simply not meant to be.

Spoiler

Instead, Shepard approached Garrus, one who she could trust and wouldn't crush her like Kaidan did.

Spoiler

Shepard knew the Reaper invasion was coming and that she needed to do much to prepare the galaxy.  She decided to go back to Earth and reach out to the human council.  It was time everyone heard the truth they all hid from.

Continued my ME3 Insanity run... and I'm starting to think I really shouldn't have done this on NG+. With maxed skills, gear and Kaidan and Liara as my trusty duo, it's just constant Biotic explosions. Enemies go down so easily that I have even checked a couple of times whether I was really playing on Insanity. =P

Oh well, I'm sure the mirror match in Armax Arsenal Arena and the freaking "protect the missiles" part in Priority:Earth will kick my ass.

Had a blast on the route to pick up Samara and Thane. :D

Corpses tend to disappear after several seconds so I was surprised to see a dead mercenary in the doorway of the cutscene during the first meeting with Samara.

Had a lot of fun throwing off as many mercenaries as I could along the route to Thane.  Even funnier to hear the audio; ahhhhhh. ... ahhhhhh...brrrrppp! from the asari mercenaries.

Spoiler

This one was clipped by an invisible wall instead of flying straight into the air.

Adept Shepard on insanity...

It was time to help Liara with her Shadow Broker problem. It began in her apartment where Shepard was introduced to Spectre Vasir. They both had a snoop among Liara's personal effects and followed Liara's trail. Spectre Vasir turned out to be an enemy in disguise so Shepard had a biotic 'disagreement' with her through a window. Shepard, Liara and Garrus gave chase to Vasir in a skycar. Vasir crashed landed and injured herself. She grabbed a hostage in a final desperation effort to stop Shepard. Vasir could see that through any games that Shepard might try (I didn't have any persuasion checks for this conversation -_-) so everyone had taken out their thermal clips to save the hostage. Shepard knew he didn't need to rely on his gun to tear Vasir apart. Shepard is an Adept and relies mostly on biotics anyway :D. The fight itself went okay despite dying three times. Shepard died: once by getting distracted by an enemy drone, once by a rocket to the face by another drone and the third time was through Vasir's shotgun.

At the end of the fight, Shepard flung Vasir off of the building and she had to walk up all the stairs for a final conversation with Shepard :P. Shepard and Liara didn't have time to chat after the fight (i.e. I didn't choose any of the paragon interrupts).

Went to the Shadow Broker ship and rescued Feron. The Yahg was killed and Liara took over the operation. Liara was invited back to the Normandy for a friendly chat. Shepard confided in her saying he doubts whether they can defeat the Reapers.

On one of the fights, I managed to biotically pull an enemy in front of an enemy rocket and this enemy got killed. It was a complete fluke and I didn't intent for it to happen but it looked really cool :D.

Liara's not my favourite teammate and even though the DLC centres around her, I love this DLC (My favourite of the trilogy).

Shepard went to rescue Dr Kenson next and he broke her out of prison. She was in charge of a project but then later changed her mind as she wanted the project to stop. Dr Kenson betrayed Shepard and set up an ambush next to the Reaper artefact. Shepard managed to survive one wave of enemies (which is a big improvement on the previous year where I didn't get past the first wave ).

Shepard had to fight through enemy guards solo. I always kill engineers last though because I like the "Stop, Drop and Roll" line. The engineers must be paragon aligned . Shepard activated the project to delay the Reaper invasion. He tried to warn the Batarians but wasn't able to. Kenson final act was to blow the facility up. Shepard shot her in an instant but she still managed to trigger an explosion. Shepard had a chat with Harbinger and Hackett.

Next stop will be Mass Effect 3. :)

Yesterday Kevin convinced Major Kyle to surrender, helped Garrus confront Dr Saleon and got Garrus to back off but they were forced to gun Saleon down anyway, and Kevin managed to talk Toombs down and take in the Cerberus scientist alive.  And why is decent medium human armor so hard to find?  Oh well I will be doing Bring Down the Sky soon,  I will get some then.

Shepard went to the Collector ship, discovered TIM's double cross and the trap. Wasn't very amused with Mordin's constant reminder that she needed to use a better weapon to pop the Praetorian.  She was resisting using the BFG but since he's so insistent. Fine, she dropped a shot on the praetorian that took out half its life bar and the all the onrushing mobs. Made it back to the Normandy. Not too happy with TIM but she decided it was rather pointless to throw a bramble at him. Once the Collectors were wrapped, she'd kicked his ass from one end of the galaxy to the next.

**

While revising my fanfic, I was listening to this

Spoiler
and I was having visions in my head of Shepard and the soldiers who went with her in the battle to the beam. Not the Bioware vision. There's no border to imagination. I would have liked to experience a Mass Effect Normandy-like landing, like COD. Not playing as Shepard, but as one of the Alliance marines or one of the ally soldiers. The view can switch according to each *mission perimeters. Priority Earth.  :D

* Other than a straight up ground pounder fight (asari, salarian, turian, krogan, rachni, etc) in every mission, I was thinking a mix. A fighter pilot's view of the battle in space (I've played a few space sims and if the dialogue is well written, I actually felt the atmosphere the fighter wing pilots are conveying even if the protag is not talking. I've often went; you'll pay for that. no one takes out my wingman :P ). A battle cruiser captain's attempt to take down a Reaper. Pass / fail depends on decisions. Fail means an instant death or time to bail out, in which case, you as the captain, must take the according steps to save as many of your crew as you can.

Sparks Shepard died..Normandy exploded...crew got out...well, some didn't. Woke up to some lady talking and a dude who isn't the President of Hair Club for Men. Fell asleep again...Woke up again and all hell was breaking loose. No time to think...shoot anything shooting at her. Found Jacob...reminded Sparks she'd been dead and she's creeped out internally...also curious about the technology used...well at least we know she's not a clone...NERD!

Her old crew wasn't around anymore...she needed to reach them but..these mechs doe...Found a guy she remembered waking up to...mr. hair club non pres himself. Found out lady's name that was screaming directions at her earlier too and what she does...also found out these jack wagons work for Cerberus...some guy called Illusive Man heads it. Sparks' spidey senses are tingling...she wiped out these idiots bases before she...died(hasn't adjusted yet...running head canon)...they also killed Admiral Khoaku....naw...this won't do! Jacob assures her she can talk to this Illusive Man and he'll answer her questions. Sparks knows that will be one of the most important convos she'll ever have...pick his brain but be smart about it. For now, she doesn't trust any of them.

Fought through Mechs...made it to exit...found Miranda...she shot that guy umm...Wilson. Red flag. She claims he was responsible...Sparks slightly agreed with her...he seemed to act too anxious about what was happening. Sparks wanted to look for survivors...there are none as she was the most important...the staff knew this job condition...cold world.

Finally got to other Cerberus base...talked to Illusive Man...Sparks didn't care for that "we're friends" casualness in his voice. That was another red flag. Basically, he paid to "wake her up" because human colonies are being abducted...and no one's doing anything about it. He went straight for the jugular...very good, Lusi. Sparks needed proof...he mentioned possible Reaper connections...two things worth investigating. Ended call...heading to Freedom's Progress...a lot of info to digest and Sparks suddenly realized again..."Where is Liara? Where is everyone?" =(

There is a way to cheese this level if you know where to take cover. It probably comes off as boring, but if you are looking to get through all 5 waves on insanity (or any other difficulty level, really) then head over to the L shaped work station in the northwest corner of the room and stay there. (East is defined here as direction of the artifact in relation to Shepard's starting position.)

Looking for some downtime after the escape from the Collector ship was impossible. Shepard found her mailbox jammed with messages. Odd advertisements to weird threatening messages, she dumped those without bothering more than a glance at the subject titles and the contents.

The rest was from her crew. Samara, Grunt, Thane and Tali all suddenly requested private interviews with her. Grunt she could understand, Kelly had been dropping heavy hints that the tank born krogan was more crabby than usual. The other three had been quiet so their desire for a dialogue was rather odd. All at once? If she wasn't so certain of them, she'd suspect a conspiracy.

She looked at the pile of paperwork waiting for her and wondered if she couldn't push half of it at Miranda. It amused her sometimes to find Cerberus protocols also required the same kind of management from its commanding officers. It also reminded her too much of the Systems Alliance. It made her heartsick whenever she thought about it. But she couldn't return now. Not yet. She looked down at her black and white tunic and wished it was navy blue.

No. I'm not going to think about it.

She stood up. A walk and some conversation would do her some good. She decided to tackle Samara first.

I find that Dominate doesn't really work in the section. Check out the vid linked above or here. Out of the 15 minute battle, I probably spent about 5 minutes just trying to figure out if Dominate was working or not. It was not. I am not going to use that bonus power again for this mission.

Huh, it was working for me... *loads ME2 and plays that part* Working.

On occasion you get someone who ignores Dominate, but that happens with AI Hacking/Sabotage as well. Even then other enemies fire at your "puppet" (it happens on your video as well).

Just finished the suicide mission with the adept Jean Grey Shepard: a hero who always tries to save people without looking at the big picture. Once the crew was abducted, she insisted on doing the suicide mission right then despite not being fully prepared in order to get the crew back. I had not done Jacob or Legion's loyalty missions and Tali was not loyal (turned over the evidence), but Jean managed to succeed with no casualties. There was something about doing the mission under the circumstances of not being fully prepared and succeeding anyway that brought a rush. It is a good thing Jean can stay focused regardless of personal matters, unlike the rest of the crew. Hell, her LI (Kaidan) treated her like crap when she saw him, and Tali no longer wanted to talk to her. Shepard is one of a kind.
