So, during the week I had a few problems with my Origin Client. I updated the program and sadly the new version decided to disregard my previous settings (like ignoring auto-updates). It ended up doing updates of its own to ME1 (I have no idea what it did to it) and ME2 (it installed the genesis comic book which I usually don´t use). So I decided to do clean installs of both games and then re-apply all the mods I have.
I do live in the southern hemisphere and it´s very cold in my city, something I totally despise. I have no desire to leave the comfort of my cozy home during weekends unless I really need to for the next 4 months or so.
I just did a run of ME1 with Miriam Shepard, a blue-eyed blonde, female engineer war hero that was raised on space. She was a full paragon, who did all the missions aside from pinnacle station, the renegade one and the collectibles. She did, however, collect ten asari writings in order to save her number one fan, even though she finds him a little awkward (in a totally harmless and funny way).
Along the journey she was friendly to anyone, was always most kind to her crew, attempted to save as many as possible and avoid fights.
It took me around 17 hours across 3 nights (fueled by almost four litters of hot chocolate) to complete the mission. The council was enormously grateful, and her mentor, now the first human Councilor, was very proud.
Miriam did not romance anyone, and played first with Tali and Ashley, and later on with Liara and Ashley. She only used Garrus in order to confront the Salarian butcher and Wrex when it was time to retrieve his armor. And of course, the mandatory initial acts with Kaidan. Kaidan died defending the nuke on virmire.
As an Engineer, she was mostly doing support work. Ashley was the real star of the show, alternating between Assault Rifles, Shotguns and Sniper (with explosive rounds) according to the type and quantity of enemies. Liara the biotic was providing crowd control, while Miriam, an Engineer with Sniper Riffles available was mostly weakening enemies and engaging targets at opportunity, almost always from safe distances. Many people complain that engineers in ME1 are boring, but the build I used along with the squad-composition made this an interesting experience.
The intentions for the trilogy run are:
1-She will be an Engineer who never manipulates enemies. Never uses AI hacking nor utilizes dominate as bonus. While I love these powers, they can make shepard look lazy and too dependent on them. For this run, I will not use them. This will be an enginner focused purelly on debuff opponents, distract them with drones and illusions. I can´t wait to use her on arrival (me2) and omega in me3.
2-She will only play with female squad-mates, unless the game requires her to team-up with males (like during loyalty missions). Mono-gendered asari are treated as females.
3-Her primary friend in ME2 will be Miranda. Followed by Kasumi as soon as the ship becomes available. The kassa-locust smg (no engineer should be without one) is the third squadmate. Imagine 3 deadly assassins wearing black and armed with smgs. With 3 overloads in succession even a geth prime will be a piece of cake.
4-No biotic powers. Energy drain is the bonus in ME2.
5-Samara will be the pseudo-romance in ME2, and carry over to ME3. I have never seen the citadel and ME3 content for Samara if shepard tried to seduce her in ME2, so now it´s my chance. This built and this trilogy run were centered around this idea.
I just finished meeting joker again after two years and discovering that thanks to cerberus the normandy is also back from the dead.
Next, time to know the ship and crew, recruit a master thief, visit a dear old friend at the citadel, do some shopping, help the thief on a heist, claim my KL smg and then head to Omega.
