Suicide mission is done, blasted the Reaper baby twice in the face with when it had a quarter of health left and killed it (was on insanity, so it needed softened up). Still not done though. Next is Normandy Crash Site, which I do after the suicide mission because it feels wrong to see the old Normandy again without avenging her first by destroying the Collector Base. After that, meet Liara in Shepard's cabin cabin (friendly, not romance, Tali won Shepard's heart). Then it's Arrival, a nice segway into ME3. I'll bring the Cain to Arrival, even if I probably won't it for anything but shooting Object Rho for fun as a roleplay of Shepard trying to take it out before it knocks him out.
I purposefully sacrificed Mordin so I could get Padok instead. I gave him the most dignified death I could though, leading the second fire team so he got to give his last words. He did indeed hold the line...

It could be good for the Mechs. The Arc Gun would also be good, given how many attackers you'll have. The Cryo gun may also be useful for once.

Nah. Did you see the post earlier where I said I bring the Cain everywhere, even when I don't need it? Yeah. Besides, I'm a vanguard. I already got cryo ammo.
Beat Mass Effect 3 again today for the fourth time, first since 2012. Really incredible game and the combat holds up very well. I went Sentinel with Tali/Liara and it was insanely fun using Overload to combo Tali's Energy Drains and Flare to combo Liara's Singularities.
Romanced Tali...again. I probably don't have it in my to try a different romance at this point, it's just that good. Thought about choosing Control this playthrough, but went with Destroy as usual. First time playing Omega and Leviathan, too. Omega had fun combat, but I liked the non-combat stuff in Leviathan more. Tomorrow I play Citadel to cap this trilogy playthrough.
We returned to the Citadel and I went to see the asari councilor. She actually offered help. I'm not sure though what I should think about this. It's an artifact the asari kept hidden in a temple on their homeworld... and if it helps locating the Catalyst, I can't believe they'd hold that back in a time like this.
So Liara, Ash and I were Thessia-bound. What a mess... The Reapers were already everywhere, and we had to fight our way through to this temple. Lots of casualties on the asari side. We finally made it to the temple, and thanks to the cipher I got a couple years back, I could sense that there was a Prothean beacon around here. When I revealed it, a VI came out of the giant statue in the centre, and we were just trying to extract more information about the Catalyst when that a*shole Kai Leng showed up. Said someone wanted to talk to us... well guess who. Yep, Mr. Illusive idiot. Can't believe he's still going to try to control the Reapers, he's nuts.
Things then went... not so well. Kai Leng attacked and called in gunship support to collapse the place right were I stood, then stole the VI. I survived somehow, but here we were... Reapers pouring in, asari dying. We lost. And I was angry. Angry at myself, angry at Kai Leng, angry at the Illusive Man, angry at those Reaper f*cks. We were so close, and now there was no chance to get the Catalyst. But when we returned to the Normandy, luck was on our side... maybe. Traynor had tracked Leng's shuttle to the Iera System. It was worth a shot. We headed there right away in hopes we could catch him in time.
Back on Horizon, huh. Well, it sucked last time, it sucked this time too. The sanctuary for the refugees here turned out to be a nightmare. Cerberus was here and turned all these poor people into Reaper creatures. I don't even have words. We saw vid snippets of Miranda trying to warn the refugees, and found out her father was involved in those gruesome experiments. Unbelievable.
We managed to get to an elevator that led us up a tower, and in there... Henry Lawson, Oriana and Miranda. Miranda looked bad, but at least she was still alive. Her father held Oriana hostage, a gun in his hand. What kind of person does that to their own daughter? Oh right, the one that also has no problem with turning all these innocent refugees into mindless puppets.
I tried to talk down Lawson... if I could just somehow get him to loosen up his grip on Oriana for a moment I'd put a nice bullet in his f*cking head. But he never did. Miranda took a chance and threw her biotics at both of them. Oriana was free, but it all went so fast. I was just about to pull the trigger, when Lawson shot Miranda. She managed to hurl him out of a window, and to his death, with another biotic attack before collapsing. Damn it. No... I dropped down next to her and held her hand. She died quickly. Miranda... Sh*t...
Liara found a promising lead with which we might be able to track down the Illusive Man's base. At least something. I have to get out of here.
Back on the Normandy Hackett told me they already found the base. I was ready to kick this a*shole to hell, but I hadn't forgotten about the Normandy's maintenance Hackett had ordered. Now was the time. Getting ready for the final assault... just you wait, you f*cking Cerberus pr*ck.
Piiiiics (lots!):
Only 3 more missions to go! Yeah well, Citadel DLC is lengthy, but I look really forward to it (as always), especially the squaddie time and Jack. I've actually never seen Jack's meet-up in the DLC because I believe it requires to play some Armax Arsenal matches? Time to do that now! I was in the arena the very first time I played the DLC, but somehow I didn't get her meet-up, or maybe I just forgot to check (more likely, haha).

To meet Jack in the Citadel DLC:
1. Meet her at Grissom Academy.
2. Meet her at Purgatory.
3. Buy the required arena map from the Bronze Prize terminal. (Oh crap I am drawing a blank on the name! It is the big square arena with the all big white statues.)
4. Buy Elite enemies (Silver prize) or Super Elite enemies (Gold Prize) from the arena terminals. I forget which one.

*whispers* Brimstone.

I believe you fight Elite enemies with her.

Halfway there ![]()
Thanks!
I don't like fighting in the arena, but maybe it won't be as bad as I remember it ![]()
Spoiler alert (just incase)! I'm near the end of 3rd playthrough of the trilogy. I just killed off Kai Leng and am about to take on London. I'm almost embarrassed that I still find it tough to finish the game, since it's so wrenching and it leaves me in a funk. I did the synthesis ending the first time and it was devastating! As tough as it is to sacrifice the synthetics (sorry my darling EDI), I have to play the destroy ending just to keep hope alive that Darren Shepard and Kaidan will find each other again.
Started a new trilogy playthrough over the weekend, have not posted about it until now. I have a storytelling idea I want to try, so I'll post the results so far over the next few posts.
Excellent read, Red
Such a good idea!
I love this thread ![]()
Keep them coming RedCaesar, these are great!
It's happening, I can feel it. Desire to drop new games and start yet another ME trilogy playthrough is growing...
BURNSIDE: Now let's talk about your next step in the investigation: Noveria. I hear it's cold.
SHEPARD: Freezing. And the weather is also cold.
My favourite part ![]()
Another reason why Shepard likes James - he saved her so many times from "discussing" ![]()
Last night played the SM, blew up the base, saved everyone, accidently skipped a cutscene when I was trying to reload my gun at the end of the reaper fight (stupid x button). Going to do LoTSB and Arrival and then it is import time. Looking forward to ME 3 but I have to admit I hate to see another ME 2 playthrough come to an end.
Anywho picture time
The Normandy was in the hands of the maintenance team and I went over to Anderson's apartment, not really expecting such a big and nice place. Anderson and I talked via vid screen and... hell, he wants me to have this place?! Wow... thanks, Admiral! I looked forward to having a little relaxing time in here... maybe get a hold of Jack... This should be good. I walked around the apartment, checking out Anderson's biography stuff, then got notified I have a new e-mail. It was from Joker, inviting me to dinner in a sushi place. What better way to start our shore leave?
I changed into some nice clothes and met up with Joker soon. We just talked about the shore leave when some cute Alliance gal called Maya Brooks came running over, telling me my life is in danger. Someone apparently targets me specifically. Well that sucks. Brooks just told us more details when a group of mercenaries arrived and fired some shots. F*cking idiots!!
They found Brooks, I sent Joker away to get the rest of the crew and managed to relieve one of those morons of his pistol. After shooting a couple of them I ran to Brooks. Someone targeted me and Brooks pushed me out of the way, getting shot in the process. Poor girl, but I was in for a rough ride as well. That stupid fish tank broke after being shot at and I fell down. Like, really down. That hurt a lot, you f*cks. Brooks contacted me on the radio. She had taken medi-gel... lots of medi-gel, and was up on her feet again. Glad to hear. I asked her to have a shuttle sent to Cision Motors, which was across a big gap from where I was, but it sure took some time to get there. Lots of mercs in my way and such. I managed to survive and was greeted by Liara at Cision Motors. She looked at me with a face that said 'more than friends', and hey, thanks for the compliment, but you... uh, know about Jack?
Anyway, James showed up, saving us from some arriving mercs, and Joker got us out of there with the shuttle. What a day! Back in the apartment Liara had the idea to trace the pistol I had grabbed. It came from some dude called Khan, casino owner and arms dealer. How nice. Coincidentally he was hosting a charity event tonight, so we made plans to interrogate this guy to who he sold these pistols to. So, Brooks came along in order to go through an air shaft and help us, and Ashley accompanied me for the night. She looked smoking hot. And I think she still wears the same perfume as back when we were a thing. Then I started picturing Jack with a dress like this and had to grin like an idiot at the thought. Yeah, right.
We started mingling and with Brooks's help and a hack from Liara, we disabled some cameras and alarms, and soon got into Khan's room. Unfortunately, he was dead. Sh*t. The guy behind the merc attack and I had a little chat on the comm, damn this f*cker. We really need to find him...
Back in the apartment EDI and Brooks started analysing what data we grabbed from Khan, hopefully they can find something in there.
Screenies:
I noticed a little inconsistency with the sushi e-mail. In there it says 'dinner with Joker', but if you look it up in the journal, it says 'lunch'
Also, I got contacted by EDI again, which is weird, because it really should be Ash if it's the squaddie you took most with you. Maybe it is actually with who you talked the most. My other idea is that EDI is just default when Wrex was killed. I will find out eventually. Probably ![]()
Oh, I'm also thinking about changing my weapons. I actually never used the Supressor before
I thought about trying it out, and since I get the Lancer I could use that as well instead of the Mattock. I really don't wanna carry around 3 weapons though, so that would mean that I'd need to give up on the Raptor. Decisions decisions!
Shepard had wanted to rant at Javik. The security protocols for the prothean V.I. was asinine. If it could detect indoctrinated subjects, there was no call for its temporizing with her. A word, a few words to reveal what was the catalyst. Now they would never know.
It wasn't fair of her to heap everything on him but it was hard not to. She didn't care she was coming across as an enraged hard ass during the meeting, she wanted Cerberus crushed. She wanted to kick the Illusive Man straight into the galactic core to burn eternally. The only clue they could go on now was to investigate this so called Sanctuary in the Shadow Sea. There was precious little information about the place or the people who set it up. What sort of safe haven could it be when most people knew about it?
Liara and Garrus knew she was in a foul mood and held their tongues as they sat in the cargo compartment. When Cortez announced the LZ was hot, they were almost relieved. It didn't last long when they landed and proceeded into an eerily silent facility. Where were the refugees? They saw Cerberus shuttles under attack by Reaper forces and dread grew at the thought of what might have happened. That dread grew into horror when they discovered what Sanctuary really was.
No refugee had survived. Shepard's fury translated itself onto the Reaper and Cerberus forces they encountered. Any that came too near was demolished with her hands; none remained intact. Her rage cooled slightly when they rescued Miranda and Oriana. She didn't much care that Miranda killed her father, he more than deserved it. When Miranda offered her the tracer she had planted on Kai Leng, she could have kissed her. Now they would find the Illusive Man's lair and finished him. Hopefully, they would also find the stolen prothean V.I.
Admiral Hackett agreed with her. Fifth Fleet was accordingly despatched to the location. While the battle raged, Shepard took EDI and Liara with her to infiltrate Cronos Station. They fought their way into the centre of the station, finding bits and pieces of data along the way. One question that had always bugged Shepard was answered in one of the data caches though it also opened up other questions. Questions which she may or may not find the answer to in future.
The Illusive Man's inner sanctum was empty. No surprise to Shepard. Nor was she startled when TIM himself communicated over the QEN. She didn't bother to argue with him; it was a waste of time. He was there to gloat, distract them, she had no patience to fall for it. Of course he disappeared again when EDI found the prothean V.I. To her astonishment and dismay, the catalyst turned out to be the Citadel and TIM had alerted the Reapers. Always one step behind. She was heartily sick of TIM.
Kai Leng appeared when they attempted to contact Hackett. Again, no surprise to Shepard. She had been expecting him. The fool thought he was on equal footing when he was already hobbled by his masters. When he went down and moved no more, she used TIM's console to make contact with Hackett. But Kai Leng was not dead. A little smile played around Shepard's lips as she pretended she didn't hear his dragging footsteps. She timed it perfectly. As he reached to plunge that miserable excuse of a weapon into her back, she sprang up and whirled. The sword broke under the strike of her left gauntlet. As she spun, she flicked open her omni-blade and buried it deep into Kai Leng's side. The startled death gurgle of pain was sweet to her ears.
"That's for Thane, you sorry son of a ******." She drove the blade in deeper for emphasis before withdrawing it and kicking him aside.
First combat deployment of the Thanix-II Particle Lance:

After EDI and Brooks had managed to crack the drives we got from Khan's room and seeing that the mercs had bought an awful lot of weapons, Glyph mentioned some activity in the Citadel Archives. No doubt it's that frigging guy, as he's using MY Spectre code. I brought everyone to the archives so they can form teams and back Liara, Ash and me up.
What we found in the archives though was a little... unpleasant. I couldn't believe we got trapped by these mercs, and to top this, I had to stare into my own face. Yep, a clone. Cerberus, you... damn f*cking c*nts (whoops, language!!!
).
I tried playing nice, but this a*s wants to take my name, my identity, my ship, and my life. Not today, my friend.
We got free and shot the mercs around us while the clone was on his way to the Normandy. We chased him through the archives as fast as we could, but we ended up being trapped inside a vault. Clone's work, of course. To my surprise, Maya Brooks was not really Alliance and was an ally of the other me... convincing show, whoever you are. B*tch.
After they left us behind, I called Glyph to help us out. Kinda glad now Liara kept this weird drone around.
Our little hunt ended at the Normandy, where the clone had already boarded and prepared to take off, but we arrived just in time at the docking tube, where Traynor's toothbrush actually saved the day. This whole thing gets crazier and crazier.
We stormed the CIC and got rid of the mercs in there, when I saw it. That f*ck had piled up all my stuff to send away! My ship models, even my hamster!
We took the elevator down to the cargo bay where that freak and his stupid little friend waited, and finally managed to put a stop to this madness. Not really sorry the clone died in the process, and then Ash also shot Brooks when she tried to flee. They kinda deserve it for pulling that sh*t on me. I took a deep breath once outside the Normandy and looked around, my whole crew there. My friends. Hell yeah, I'm ready for some true shore leave. Joker suggested a party, and that's a brilliant idea. We all earned it.
Screenies:
Supressor went pretty nice, but I've decided against the Lancer
For the docking bay part I let Ash have her Disruptor ammo back, it helped a lot, especially during the clone fight. My team kinda sucked against Heavies, with their f*cking shield! I'm happy this part is over now, because for the rest of the game, I actually liked using Ash and Liara. It was challenging at times, but I tried to continue my ME2 setup as much as possible, and it was really pretty neat. Of course Concussive Shot is now awesome and fun to use, but it still had that ME2 feeling sometimes. Anywaaaay, died once during the Clone fight, which is a new record for me ![]()
Also I just bawled like an idiot
I currently record my playthrough and like to check up on some things from time to time, so I checked the fastest conditions for Jack's Armax e-mail (which came after playing a match, getting her, getting the Brimstone map, playing another standard match with her (not sure if that 2nd match is mandatory though, I'll try leaving it out when I record it)), and then I got her other e-mail too. I wanted to see how the Varren scene played out when romanced, just... it was a completely different scene, haha. I had heard about the tattoo scene, but I wasn't aware that this did not happen during the party night. Anyway, it totally caught me off guard how sweet this scene was (and how much I already regret what I'll do at the end). Damn. Courtenay Taylor really nailed Jack
And now I'm sad
Ugh.
Well, enough rambled for today, stay tuned for the meet-ups and party! ![]()
Yesterday I went to Menae, did everything there. Now I'm on the Citadel today, doing all the mercenary and Hanar quests and shopping. Bought the aquarium VI first thing, don't want to risk my fish dying the moment Kelly gives them back when I talk to her.
Nearly maxed nova now, a biotic power Shepard got inspiration from Jack about. All of ME2 he was trying to think of a new biotic power, and Jack gave him an idea in the Collector Base. Turning your own barrier into a large AoE biotic attack? Fantastic... Or at least this is my headcanon for how Shepard learns Nova. He didn't have it in Arrival though even though it's after the Collector Base, he hadn't perfected the technique well enough to use in a real combat situation yet by that point. Granted that Jack's version was a bit different, it was a much larger barrier and a much larger blast of energy and her blast of energy was aimed instead of omnidirectional. Still, inspiration.
So far I'm loving the N7 Piranha. Not too heavy, pretty damn powerful, like a M-27 Scimitar but much better. I normally use Disciple, but this new DLC gun is nice. Seems like like rapid fire, most of my favorite weapons are that style. My favorite sniper rifle is the Indra, and my favorite shotgun now is this. Though I do like the Paladin, despite how low rate of fire it is. I guess I don't mind a slow firing pistol.
(I'm going to borrow from the world I moved to for the trilogy since I've ended the main campaign. This is an end off, any more PTs would probably be years later, though I'll continue on for a while longer with the ME tapestry I've created)
2200 CE Citadel
Elbows braced on the bar countertop, Shepard 's eyes moved slowly from photo to photo framed on the wall. When Anderson willed the Citadel apartment to her, it had been mostly bare. He hadn't much time to imprint his touch with the place he bought but she had remedied it. There was her with her first platoon in boot camp, young faces grinning with enthusiasm. There was her in her dress uniform, receiving the first graduate award from commander Anderson. All studious and serious. Standing at the back, trying not to be overawed by the company she had been assigned to. Receiving her lieutenant's bars.
Her face darkened slightly at the next photo. The Akuze company. Erial, Doc, Toombs, Captain Landry. Silently, she named each face and remembered all the good times they had. Exchanging salutes with Captain Anderson on her graduation from the final ICT module. Then her and the crew standing around him with the Normandy SR1 in the background. Her eyes ranged further. A motley crew in civilian digs with the Normandy SR 2 in the background. A last farewell before she took the ship back to the Systems Alliance with Joker and Dr Chakwas. The last photo she took with Anderson, with the backdrop of the garden of the Alliance headquarters behind them. He had made Admiral then.
She took a swig from the beer bottle at her elbow as she thought of the final battle. Fighting through the Reaper processing stations was a nightmare. Never an end to the horde. Always growing from underfoot. Popped one in front and five spawned at the back. She didn't remember much of it, or how she made it. She just knew many people died. Anger had driven her. That and determination to wrest the future for life from Reaper control.
The Reapers knew what they were up to of course, so they had blanketed the surrounding area to the beam with a barrage. Then against all odds, they had left, assuming they had killed everyone. Everyone, that was, except Shepard herself and Anderson. Minnows always find a way to escape the net, or in this case, a deep depression in the ground that had shielded them somewhat. They had hobbled, crawled? She only recalled the bright flash of light and the struggle to reach the Citadel Tower.
TIM was waiting for them. She wasn't surprised. In the end, all she had was pity for him despite the fact he had her shoot Anderson. She paid him in kind when he was distracted. Anderson died but he died knowing they had succeeded. She had expected to join him too except that her crew wasn't about to leave her behind.
Liara had said she looked like mince meat when the rescue squad made a frantic dash to rescue her before the Citadel unleashed the energy that destroyed all the Reapers. She didn't remember anything except that she had felt like death. Recovery had been long. That and a myriad of problems along the way to healing. The worse was perhaps running into that clone of hers. She should have been angry but she wasn't. The others thought she had been compassionate to want to save the clone. They didn't see what she saw. The doubts, the fear, the fury she had haboured since Cerberus revived her, in that face. The eyes of the lost. She understood and she had wanted the clone to fight for her life, to make her own identity, her own future. But the clone had chosen to die.
She sighed, took another swig and looked at the wall again. The last photos were of her receiving her promotion from Admiral Hackett, and, her gaze softened at the last. Her family ranged around her, with pride. Hannah most of all.
Two Admiral Shepards in the fleet. Who'd thought of it? The front door opened and she turned at the chatter of young voices.
"Dad, look what I found!!"
"Mom, where are you?"
"Dad! Cookies!!"
She smiled at the touch of young minds and two familiar beloved aura.
Liara rounded the corner of the dividing wall. "There you are," she said. Another asari appeared beside her. "Hiding," said Shiala. Three smaller bodies scooted into sight. Shrieks of joy. She grinned and went to join her family.
