Also, is explosive burst always better than the damage upgrade for incendiary ammo?
Yes, explosive burst evolution is always better than the damage evolution for incendiary ammo.
If I recall, there is a 50% chance of the explosive burst happening. The explosive burst damage is dealt immediately, and it deals base 100 damage. The damage can be increased with power damage bonuses from your class passive, and also Pistol or SMG power amplifier mods. The other damage from incendiary ammo is dealt over time.
So basically, you have a 50% chance of dealing 100+ damage per shot.
I think I had a thread that calculated the break even point -- the weapon damage point when the explosive burst evolution damage = the max damage evolution damage -- and it was something stupid like 500 damage. That is, the weapon needs to deal 500+ damage per bullet for the max damage evolution to be more useful than the explosive burst evolution. Only single-shot sniper rifles and the Executioner can put out that kind of damage per shot.

@congokong: Just to follow up on my last post
I got the 50% chance of explosive burst from this thread and this thread by Athenau. I'm not sure if he got that from someone else or he found it by looking at the ini files.
And here is the thread where I calculate the break even point of the rank 6 evolutions.

Well, crap. I've always taken the pure damage upgrade; not that the game has been too difficult without it ...until now. I do tend to use my black widow and claymore very often. I love sniper rifles and the claymore is simply the most badass shotgun. The typhoon is more my medium distance weapon, and perhaps the only assault rifle I actually enjoy using in ME3.
If I play again, I'll be sure to take your advice and get the explosive burst upgrade.

Hey...
I... I don't even know how to start.
Wrex is dead.
Kaidan is dead.
I can't believe they're just... gone. Can't believe all that happened. Ashley, she... she just shot Wrex while I was still trying to calm him down. I thought I could do it. He was my friend. I'm so mad at her! Nothing gave her the right to... Oh man.
This mission was tough to stomach. Although we succeeded, it got messy. We had to blow up a base where Saren tried to create his own krogan army. We need to stop him, and soon. Sorry, I'm not really in the mood to write much more, I just need... to sleep or something, though I'm not even sure I can. Maybe I should just go talk to the others, get some sort of distraction. I feel like sh*t. Damn it, I've been crying for the last 30 minutes.
I... I need to go. Freshen up a little. See you.
Screenies:
Oh my goodness, that scene on Virmire with Wrex and Ash was perfect! I made plans for Maxine to not forgive Ash so easily, let's see how that works out! I loved yelling at her after Virmire, crew talk is gonna be interesting ![]()
So now I'm down to 4 squad mates, and since Maxine is grumpy about Ash, she'll run with Garrus and alternate between Liara and Tali. Liara will definitely come to Noveria ![]()

...You are aware that Wrex was about to kill you, right? You've lowered your weapon, his is targeting your chest, and he says,
"No more talk, Shepard. I've got to do this my way."
I can only conclude one thing from that.

So tonight.. Emma got an IFF.
- One of my favourite ME2 missions, it has a nice suspenseful build up with the audio logs, decent combat and music and the reveal of Legion. It's a shame that this shows how bad some of the other main story missions are, and of course it leads to the most nonsensical part of the entire game but we can overlook that at the moment
- So you land on this derelict reaper - possibly one of the most important things you can be doing in the entire trilogy - and the first thing you do is rob the place of credits. Brilliant!
- Is it ever explained why the Reaper suddenly just turns on? I might have missed it, but it's a bit of an oddity
- I suspect that if you have never played ME1, the Legion reveal would be met with a lot more '...and? so what?'. The Geth are a very minor part of ME2 up until this point and thus it would be understandable if players really don't care or get the significance
- Scions really are a great enemy to face, it's most enjoyable. Husks, however, with a combination of singularity and shockwave, are comparatively mundane
- Tali and Miranda are a great combination for this mission. Miranda's blindness at another Cerberus ****-up does stretch credibility some what
- Decided to activate Legion this time round, last time i spaced him as I think the Geth VI is a better fit for ME3
- How, exactly, does TIM know the IFF is there? if he was told about it, why didn't he send a load of people to pick it up? Why risk Shep on this mission and not one of his endless supply of drones?
- More to the point, How did he find the Reaper, and how has no-one else found it or heard of it?
- Also, why doesn't Shep beam this info back to the Alliance / Citadel? Why doesn't she live stream it direct to the Council? Why doesn't Tali tell the Flotilla? Why am I railroaded into such stupidity?

It can be tough to roleplay characters who aren't amazingly awesome versions of yourself, but that's part of the fun. At times, playing the role can be hard for me though. Ex: Letting Balak go, dropping my thermal clips like a ***** when Vasir tells me to, etc.

I am actually playing it right now. I´m on a lobby waiting for people to appear. Finished an Engineer run yesterday so I´m putting things back at 100% readiness in MP (4 more matches and I´ll be done for the weekend). This week I´ll start a marathon of six runs, one for each classm starting with vanguard (the class I like less). Six different runs without changing class ever.

I've decided to start a brand new femshep run from the beginning. I want to change up a few things. For one, I think I want to romance Thane this time. But I want to romance Kaiden in ME1 first. Not sure if anyone can answer this. But if romance Kaiden, and then Thane in ME2, will you still get Thane's memorial scene where femshep says she loves him? Or does romancing Kaiden cancel it out? And do you get the crying scene when she watches the vid?
I'm also guessing if you lie to Kaiden about cheating on him in ME3 and leave on unfriendly terms its not possible to romance him later?

Hey you.
We managed to get some things done over the last couple days. I could convince Major Kyle, a Torfan veteran who got himself a little biotic cult, to turn himself in, and it actually got my mind off Virmire except for when we found some stupid krogan armor in a pirate base on Tuntau... Damn it, Wrex. The guys didn't say anything, but I think they saw how this still affects me. I have to forget about this, Saren is the goal...
We also saved some... apparently drugged scientists from crazy biotics, and then headed for the Horse Head Nebula. I finally met with Helena Blake, and she seemed earnest, so I let her go with her promise to disband the gang. It felt good to see her get out of this alive. Could've been bad.
Just some hours ago we cleared another base of mercs and found the brother of one of the Citadel residents. Dead... I will tell him next time we go there.
Our only lead now is that the geth are interested in this planet called Noveria, so that's where we're headed right now. I'm curious to see what it's like there.
Some screenies:
Eh, crew talk unfortunately wasn't so interesting with Ash, but I only asked her what she thought about the mission, did not celebrate and drink with her and didn't get to know more about her past. Ha.
And finally most of the sidequests are done! Noveria is up, then I guess maybe I'll do the rachni sidequests and theeen back to the Citadel it is! Weee.
I can't believe I've been repeatedly killed by Thresher Maws because I was still too close to them, thinking I was far away enough... argh ![]()

It doesn't matter if Kaidan was first in ME1 and then Thane in ME2. Affirmation is needed in ME3. They're each likely to ask femShep about her feelings for them. If you want Thane, stick with him.

I recently finished my first trilogy playthrough with a soldier class (when I knew what I was doing). The class was a lot of fun; largely because of my love for sniper rifles. Infiltrators are probably the best snipers, but that automatic time slowdown in ME2 really killed the enjoyment/challenge for me.
"Frank Castle" Shepard (colonist/ruthless) looked, dressed, fought, and behaved much like the Punisher; also probably the best-looking male Shepard I ever made. I'm pretty proud of myself for that; especially considering the reputation custom male Shepards have with this game.
There was less opportunity to role-play the way I wanted in ME3 though. The game has rpg elements, but lacked the rpg diversity of its predecessors. I still got to do a few ruthless things (ex: Shoot Mordin when he was intent on denying me salarian aid), yet it wasn't the same.

So tonight, Emma activated the best ME2 character, and enjoyed it whilst it lasted.
- So here we go, the best bit on the Geth in the entire trilogy. Not only is Legion really interesting, its unique sense of who the Geth are - its response to Shep asking what its name is being a really good example - is probably the most alien thing here. I like this Legion. This Legion - and its rejection of individuality within this mission - is just so unique amongst everything else, it really begs the question why they had to completely change it in ME3. I know the writer left, but even so - ME3 Legion feels like an imposter, a shallow, cheap version of what we have here. I think it is actually a mercy to either not activate it at all, or kill it off in the suicide mission so as to save it (and yourself) from the complete travesty of ME3. More on that later, when we get to it
- I meta-gamed the decision here to destroy the Geth to aid peace in ME3. I was going to choose save, but as I've already done that previously I not what it entails. I didn't expect the truck load of renegade points, but meh. I still haven't hit a complete segment yet
- Outside of meta gaming, the choice is rather interesting. Brainwashing or killing them all off? Each is a bad choice, but ultimately I think destroying them is better than brainwashing. Others may disagree, but fundamentally changing who someone is via a lobotomy is not something i would wish done to me - you are no longer you. Is extinction not preferable to submission?
- The final fight against the Geth was a piece of ****** with the right use of singularity and warp. This is the first time I've played an adept 'properly' and it's ridiculously easy
- Exited the mission in 1:29, which is fairly fast
- How can you not take Tali on this mission?
- The overall mission design is fairly crap, just a series of bland corridors and small arenas between the dialogue scenes. it also goes on too long (or it feels like it does, due to the similar level design). It's a bit like the Geth dreadnought mission in ME3
- The confrontation between Tali and Legion doesn't really make sense. How was legion able to scan her omni-tool? How did she find out? Why does she have secret data stored on it? How does it suddenly not transmit the data after obtaining it all? Regardless, Shep's insta-cure get out of jail paragon choice is really lame. Shouty Shep is much more fun - in fact renegade Shep is much more fun than girl-scout Shep in ME2
