Women come and go in our lives, but true friendships last forever.

Goodbye, Williams.

After weeks into this war, the Normandy had to go to dry dock for repairs. She has been through lots of action, so it make sense to get her ready for the the final push. Shore leave was nearly RUINED, however, due to a plot to destroy Quorra, led by a ruthless, emotionally unstable, and especially evil clone. She stopped her from taking the Normandy out of Citadel-controlled space, but not before kicking her off the ship. Brooks was no exception either. Quorra has had enough of betrayal and other bulls**t in this war. Brooks tried to run. Big mistake. Quorra shot that b**ch right in the back. How ironic. Brooks stabbed Quorra in the back, only to get a bullet in hers.

Spoiler

It's so annoying that they can have Garrus in civvies for the date but not for the party.

Quorra And Garrus spent one more night together before the final battle. Cerberus was over. The Cerberus Headquarters was wiped clean, along with the death of a one Kai Leng. The Citadel had been taken over by the Reapers, and was transferred to Earth. The time had come. Earth was to be the final arena of this war. With over 10,000 of military strength (I have proof), the Normandy led the massive fleet through the Sol Relay and towards Earth: Sword and Hammer against the Reapers.

Spoiler

London was in ruins! Luckily, Quorra and her squad were able to rendezvous with Anderson and his outpost. She had a few more last minute conversations with friends and loved ones. The plan was to reach the Conduit to the Citadel, no matter the cost, but not before Quorra gave her squad one final speech before the long dark walk through No Man's Land...

Spoiler

They finally reached the Conduit, but suddenly Harbinger itself appeared. Time was running out! They to run across. Soldiers were dropping like flies from the wake of Harbingers deadly beam. Garrus was injured. Quorra had Garrus shared one final goodbye. She behind, while he and Liara left on the Normandy to safety. Soon after, Quorra was hit by Harbinger's beam, critically injuring her.

Spoiler

The Citadel was a dark and bloody mess! The floors covered with dismembered corpses. People were being sent up there to be processed, possibly to make the new Reaper, one that would mark the tragic end of this cycle, like 50,000 years before. Anderson was there....but so was the Illusive Man. He has corrupted...deformed by the Reapers. He insisted on controlling the Reapers. He was too far from redemption. Quorra took him down with one last bullet. Anderson sadly passed, being critically wounded and too tired to carry on, but not without telling Quorra how proud he was of her. Something else was wrong. The Crucible was not activating. In an attempt to fix it on her end, Quorra passed out due to her injuries. And then...

Spoiler

Then came a flash of bright light. Quorra was lifted into another large chamber, where she was greeted by the Catalyst. The Citadel was the home of the Catalyst, an ancient synthetic being of great power and knowledge...it was also the controller of the Reapers. It was created long ago in order to stop the conflict between organic and synthetic life. Doing was it was created to do, it turned passed civilizations into reapers in order to preserve them, and their knowledge. This also happened to its creators. It was a very harsh way to bring order to chaos. Quorra was the first to go this far, to be standing where she is now. This caused the old solution to be obsolete. It could longer be the end result. A new one was made. The Catalyst offered Quorra a choice. She had the power to destroy them. There was also a chance to completely control them. The final choice was Synthesis. Quorra could add herself to the Crucible. Both organics, and synthetics would reach the peak of evolution. Organic and synthetic would longer have any meaning. She made her decision. The choice was to create a future for ALL life in the galaxy. It all ended with this. All it took was a Leap Of Faith...

Spoiler

It was done. Quorra jumped into the beam, and the massive energy of the Crucible ignited throughout the known galaxy. Everything changed in a blink of an eye. The cycle ended, for good. A new future was finally here. A future for both organics and machines. Such branding no longer existed. The Reapers were no more. In their place were beings of great knowledge, spanning millions of years. The galaxy was finally at peace. No more conflict, no more wars. Other races were able to do the impossible, achieving much more. The past had gone with the setting sun, with brighter tomorrow on the horizon. Quorra will always be remembered for her sacrifice to create a future where organic and synthetic no longer had any meaning. A place with no war, no sickness, no poverty. A future for all.

Many years later (no known time), an old man...a "Stargazer," tells a child the heroic tale of Quorra Shepard.

Spoiler

The End...Until New Game +

The feels... For the first time, I actually almost started bawling during the End Credits.

Quorra's story is far from over, though. There's "New Game +" to look forward to, and the ultimate challenge: "Insanity!"

So... hm. This is weird. Really weird. New journal. New crew. New Normandy. New life.

It creeps me out this journal was just sitting in my new cabin, waiting for me. How much do they know about me...? And who put it here? Maybe Kelly? Miranda? On the orders of the Illusive Man?

Oh, right... the Illusive Man. I should start from the beginning, shouldn't I?

I died. Yeah, you heard that right. According to Jacob "dead as dead can be". I don't know how I'm alive, I can't really wrap my head around that. Jacob told me the Illusive Man spent a fortune to bring me back.

This man is the head of Cerberus... I had my fair share of run-ins with them. Not happy ones. And now I'm working with them. I'm sceptical, and don't know how this all happened, but time will tell where it goes.

To be honest I feel a little lost. Jacob, and Miranda, who was in charge of 'bringing me back', seem at least like nice guys and they were friendly to me. The crew as well. I don't fully trust them yet, but Jacob was honest with me from the start at least. I think. All of them are Cerberus. And they believe in the Reaper threat. The Illusive Man told me about colonies that were attacked, human colonies. He asked me to investigate one of them. I reluctantly accepted.

There I met Tali. I was so happy to see someone I know, someone I can trust. But she has her own mission and I don't know where she went.

In the end the Illusive Man was right... the colonists were abducted by so-called Collectors. If he's the only one willing to do something against this, I might have to play along and assemble a team to take on the task... I will see soon. Anderson sent me an e-mail, to meet him. I will go to the Citadel and talk with him, but first we head to Omega. We're only a couple hours away from there, and I was asked to go look for a Dr. Mordin Solus, who could help with the Collectors.

I checked out this new place. A new Normandy... Our old ship got ripped apart and it's strange to see the familiar, yet different design. I miss my old crew. I miss Garrus. I miss Liara. And Tali's gone, too.

The only light right now are Joker and Dr. Chakwas. Both are here and I am glad they are, I just wish my best friends were here as well.

Okay... I guess that's enough for a start.

A few pics:

Spoiler

I am now thinking about whether I want to recruit Garrus first. It'd be interesting to see him during Mordin's mission, never did that before. But I just know it's gonna be a pain, because Garrus's recruitment is one of the toughest for me (the Bloodpack section...), and right now I'm still at a very low level. Ah well, I might just give it a shot anyway :)

Made it from ME1 to ME2 with my blond Shepard. I know its been a while since I played femshep in ME2... but her voice acting... is much worse than I remember. She sounds so bored and pissed off in everything she says. Which is odd because I loved her in ME1.

Not trying to turn this into a broshep vs femshep thing, but I  think broshep is better in ME2. His renegade deliveries in particular are better. Femshep's renegade lines just sound awful beyond belief. I'm not playing a renegade, but I do pick some renegade lines by default. She delivers some lines better than broshep in ME2, but for the most part I feel like she's droning in this game. Its just a good thing my femshep is so very pretty. <3

Garrus is back! He's here, on the Normandy! I still can't believe that he is this... Archangel guy from the dossier of the Illusive Man. (<- did he know that?!)

On Omega I met Zaeed Massani right away, a mercenary the Illusive Man had recommended for the team. He scares me a little, but I will talk to him later.

Then I went to see an asari called Aria and asked her about both Dr. Solus and Archangel. The sign-up for the freelancers that were supposed to help the mercs getting to Archangel was right around the corner, so we didn't waste any time. Sounded like Archangel was in some serious trouble. Lucky we got there in time. I can't imagine what would've happened if we...

Things still went pretty bad at some point because one of merc groups had a gun ship. They got Garrus... I can't even tell you how worried I was he might not make it. But everything is okay. We got him to the Normandy's med bay right away and Dr. Chakwas worked her magic. Garrus took one to the face and will have a huge scar. Well, I think we both look pretty funny right now.

It's so good to have him back... I missed our talks a lot. I asked him if he'd want to come find Dr. Solus with me, and he was eager to come along. I am so happy we can do this kind of stuff together again.

It's Garrus time!

Spoiler

I knew it, I just knew it :D Bloodpack section, biiiiig sigh. This time around I left no one with Garrus and I was super slow in the last part of the shutter section, so his health was pretty much down when I returned. He died twice on me, then I died myself, then finally it was done. I never recruited Garrus this early, and I know why :P

But now I can enjoy him on Mordin's recruitment, that's gonna be great. Gonna leave Jacob behind I guess.

Also I tinted Shep's armor for the first time :D

I thought ME3 would be easier to mod, but it's not. Kind of more complicated really. And too many different formats for mods too.

Yesterday after she exposed Saren Kate was made into the first human spectre.   First thing she did after acquiring the Normandy was to pick up Benezia's daughter who's knowledge of the Protheans may come in handy.

Decided to start a new trilogy playthrough. Meet Victoria Shepard: Earthborn, War Hero, mostly Paragon.

Spoiler

I'm going to be roleplaying her as a mostly goody-two-shoes type of soldier, who nevertheless is trying to get over a deep seated sense of xenophobia she acquired growing up on the streets of New York back on Earth. She is willing to accept the help of allies like Tali and Garrus, but deep down she fears betrayal, or at the very least, like Ashley said, that aliens will always protect their own interests first. But she is trying to keep an open mind.

Becoming the first human Spectre was the proudest moment of her life. She intends to do all she can to prove to the galaxy that humanity has what it takes to be a major player, that humanity deserves a seat on the Council. Now that she's proved Saren is a traitor, it's time to hunt that bastard down before more humans are hurt. Taking down an entire geth incursion in the Armstrong system felt good. It felt like she really dealt a blow to Saren's forces. Now it's time to go to Feros. It's her duty to protect human colonists just trying to make a living in the Traverse. She won't let it become another Eden Prime.

Spoiler

AI like this one on the Citadel and the geth really freak Victoria out. She doesn't hesitate to destroy this one, and she hasn't given much thought to the geth's perspective during the conflict where the quarians were driven into exile.

Tonight, Emma finished this..

Spoiler

  • Meh
  • Well, to expand: Meh
  • This is my least favourite of the ME2 story DLCs. My problems with it are that the neither the combat nor the 'exploration' - if you can call it that - are particularly interesting. Fighting the Geth again, who are not a particularly interesting adversary compared to ME1 Geth (seriously, what happened to all their other enemy types?) is just dull. The vehicle section is ****** poor (the most fun you can have is trying to find where all the invisible walls are to keep you hemmed in) and literally serve no purpose (not even world building, like the Prothean skyway did on Feros)
  • The other issue is the story, and more particularly another Cerberus experiment gone wrong. Seriously, what is with this trope in ME2? Also, why do Bioware have to always go over the top with it? It's not enough that he locks his autistic brother into the Geth network, he has to do it by locking him in some form of torture device complete with spikes through his arms and tubes down his throat. It ruins any form of nuance or grain of sympathy you can have towards Archer. It's almost cartoonish in its depiction of evil, lacking any subtlety
  • If Bioware are so keen to railroad us into working for Cerberus, why is every mission that involves their activities showing them to be explicitly evil and incompetent? And why can't you revolt against this sooner? It's a real conflict at the heart of this game that undermines it, especially in the supposed making choices aspect - and especially for a Paragon player
  • i turned David over to Grissom Academy. Which raises another point - why would Shep tell Gavin and TIM where he is going? Might as well write a target on the poor lads head
  • I also pistol whipped Gavin - something Paragon Shep should have done more of, rather than being a Girl Scout all the time
  • Why does a Geth ship have corridors and steps/ramps to move around in
  • The bit where you go into the network is pretty cool
  • I like the sequence where the lift goes crazy
  • Some of the lighting is very good as well
  • I always have to shoot all of the cameras

Right, enough of that  - onto one of the best DLCs..

Aww, I liked Overlord. I don't think that game in particular is anti-Cerberus though. Just Jack and David are supposed to be the big reminders. In the main game, it's mostly Jack. It's also Vasir's condemnation.

But if you took everything into account, yeah they play it up quite a bit.

I have to shoot all the cameras too..

From last weekend (I procrastinated writing this up):

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: Welcome back, Ms. Shepard.
NICOLE SHEPARD: We're going to have to keep this short. I have another appointment with the committee.

BURNSIDE: Then let's talk about your mission on Horizon. I understand this was your first encounter with the Collectors.
SHEPARD: It was.

BURNSIDE: You arrived during a Collector attack on the colony. How did you learn about the attack?
SHEPARD: The Illusive Man told me.

BURNSIDE: The Illusive Man told you? How did he know it was being attacked?
SHEPARD: He said 'it went silent'. I assume he was listening for open communications when it was cut off, indicating that it was in trouble, likely from the Collectors.

BURNSIDE: And that was not suspicious?
SHEPARD: What do you mean?

BURNSIDE: I mean there were hundreds of human colonies out in space. How did he know to monitor that particular colony?
SHEPARD: Good question. I didn't have access to the Illusive Man's data. The geniuses at Cerberus could have been studying Collector attack patterns and determined that was the colony most likely to get hit next. Or more likely they had an agent or two on the colony when it went silent. I don't particularly buy the Illusive Man's theory that they were looking for people connected to me and hit the colony because a former crewmember was on it.

BURNSIDE: I see. And you managed to survive not getting frozen by the seeker swarms?
SHEPARD: Yes. Mordin had developed a countermeasure.

BURNSIDE: And you also encountered some of the husk creatures you encountered when chasing Saren?
SHEPARD: I did. It confirmed our suspicions that the Collectors were working with the Reapers.

BURNSIDE: How so?
SHEPARD: Well the Geth got the technology to turn humans into husks from the Reapers, so it stands to reason that the Collectors also got that technology from the Reapers.

BURNSIDE: You don't think the Collectors got that technology from the Geth? Or maybe the Geth got that technology from the Collectors?
SHEPARD: Are you seriously suggesting---

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard, I am merely suggesting an alternative explanation--
SHEPARD: Of course you are. Because believing the Reapers exist is too far fetched?

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard---
SHEPARD: Shut up and let's move on.

BURNSIDE: Very well. You also encountered someone named 'Harbinger' while on Horizon.
SHEPARD: Yes. A Reaper.

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard...
SHEPARD: Hey, we didn't know it at the time. At first we thought it was similar to the Rachni Queen on Noveria that took control of a dying Asari, like a Queen Collector taking control over a drone. We only found out later that it was Reaper taking direct control over a subject, similar to how Sovereign took control over the modified Saren after we killed him at the Citadel.

BURNSIDE: Shepard--
SHEPARD: Whatever, you don't believe me. I get it. I'm sure we'll discuss it a few more times later. Let's just move on.

BURNSIDE: Now you also found out that the Alliance was actually helping these colonies.
SHEPARD: No they weren't.

BURNSIDE: The Alliance had installed turrets on the colony.
SHEPARD: Installing a giant gun that doesn't shoot straight is no help at all. It's like giving a group of kids a big rock so they can play soccer. You can kick it, but you can't actually play the game with it.

BURNSIDE: But unlike your earlier assertion that the Alliance was doing nothing, the Alliance was trying to stop the attacks.
SHEPARD: By doing what exactly? Giving colonies equipment that doesn't work? that's just wasting money, time, and resources. Meanwhile, while the Alliance thought Cerberus was behind the attacks, we managed to discover it was the Collectors AND stopped an attack.

BURNSIDE: But you didn't save the whole colony.
SHEPARD: No, but we didn't lose the whole colony either.

BURNSIDE: Hmm. And you met a former squadmate, Ashley Williams, on Horizon. How did she react to seeing you?
SHEPARD: Poorly. She was mad that I didn't contact her, and even madder that I was working for Cerberus.

BURNSIDE: Why didn't try to contact her?
SHEPARD: Well I was kind of unconsious for two years, and Anderson stonewalled me when I asked about Ashley. He said she was on a classified assignment. Something I would have explained to Ashley if she was willing to listen.

BURNSIDE: And she wouldn't listen?
SHEPARD: Nope. She had a tip that the colony would be the next to get hit, said the Alliance suspected it was Cerberus behind the attacks and that Cerberus was just using me.

BURNSIDE: And you didn't think Cerberus was using you?
SHEPARD: Of course Cerberus was using me! But I also used them. They had the resources to take down the Collectors and stop the attacks, so I let them use me. I joined the Alliance to protect humanity. I worked with Cerberus to go on the offensive to eliminate a threat to humanity. It was just a more aggressive way to protect humanity. Either way, I was helping the Alliance even if i was working for Cerberus. Anyway, i got to go. See you next time, doc.

Nicole Shepard's Suicide Mission theme is Pro-Tech, so only squadmates with a tech power will survive. I spent the last several minutes sketching out the plan.

For those interested (that should be none of you), I consulted the thread Mass Effect 2's Suicide Mission Guide - *Everything* about the final mission, and came up with this:

Pro-tech (Nicole):
Spare: Miranda, Kasumi, Mordin, Garrus, Tali, Legion
Kill: Jacob, Zaeed, Jack, Grunt, Thane, Samara/Morinth

1. Leave Grunt in tank.

2. Ship upgrades:
 - Do not research armor upgrade: Kill Jack
 - Research shield upgrade: spare Kasumi
 - Do not research weapon upgrade: kill Thane

3. Suicide mission, vents:
 - Vent: Jacob (dies)
 - Second fire team leader: Zaeed

4. Suicide mission, bubble:
 - Send back with crew: Tali (spared)
 - Biotic bubble: Miranda
 - Bubble squadmates: Kasumi/Mordin (spared), Samara (dies)
 - Second fire team leader 2: Zaeed (dies)

5. Suicide Mission, final push:
 - Reaper squad: Kasumi, Mordin
 - Hold the line: Garrus, Legion, Miranda

If you read this entire post, I have to ask this question: Why? It was not really all that interesting.

Hopefully this weekend I can log a bunch of hours and make a lot of progress through ME2.

Thought I would give posting my femshep a try out here for the first time. As lame as it sounds, its the femshep I am most "proud" of. I know I'm on ME2, but I only had images for ME1 at the moment.

No the main story is not anti-cerberus, in fact it makes it clear you should work for them and are railroaded into it.
The problem is that you are then confronted with all this evidence to the contrary and have no option to get off the railroad.

Ah.. yeah, there are limitations to that.

It works for how I played... and just played again (basically "redid" my playthrough on PC now), but it's not for everyone. My Shep is a very confused dude. He's got a thing for both Jack and Miranda and ends up being wishy washy for the first half of the game trying to balance that. lol. It's basically how I naturally first played too. You could mix that up with other characters too, I guess. This is one area where romance adds to the story, I think. VS/Liara is a whole mess of confusion as well, if romanced.

I think by the time I play LotSB, Vasir's words helped. Other little things work too.. like little choices where you start getting pissed at TIM for tricking you on the Collector Ship, not selling Legion..

But it doesn't work if you've made up your mind right away.

Aw man, this saddens me so much. All the great posts and threads that will be lost... sigh. What a stupid decision :(

Yeah I'm really bummed. I won't tumblr, facebook, tweet or reddit, I need a proper forum with legible discussion trees. It's like they're trying to silence all discussion that isn't limited to 140 character tweets or click bait. :(

This sucks.  No matter how crazy and toxic the rest of the forum got we always had this thread which evolved into something really cool with people posting pictures and videos of their respective playthroughs.  I am going to miss this thread (and the similar one in the DA section).   I guess some pencil pusher at corporate didn't think these boards were worth maintaining anymore.

Well while this board is still here I might as well post what I did today.  Today Kate investigated the Feros colony to see what was going on and why communications went dead.  When she got there she discovered that colony had been under attack by the Geth.  After fending off a Geth attack and speaking with the local leader of the Zhu's Hope group she set off for the Exo Geni headquarters to see what the Geth were after.  The Zhu's Hope group appeared to have other problems but she didn't come to Feros to babysit them, she had to find out what Saren was after.   So she departed on the skyway for the Zhu's Hope headquarters alongside Wrex and Tali.  Fought some Geth along the way and ran into a group from Exo Geni including that charming corporate piece of work named Jeong.  So after checking in with them she went to Exo Geni headquarters met another Exo Geni employee named Elizabeth Bayhnem that hinted that the Geth might be interested in something called the Thorian.  After more investigation of the Exo Geni headquarters and blowing up more Geth Kate discovered that the Thorian was a telepathic plant being that had enslaved the colonists at Zhu's Hope and for some reason that was what the Geth were after.  She also discovered that Exo Geni knew what the Thorian was doing with the colonists.  Well after getting out of there she confronted that Corporate piece of work named Jeong and then shot him (had the renegade option to talk him down but shot him anyway).  After killing the Thorian controlled colonists she confronted the Thorian itself and destroyed it.  After the fight she talked to an Asari that it had imprisoned who informed Kate that she had been given to the Thorian in exchange for a cipher that would help better interpret the prothean beacons.  After receiving this cipher from the Asari, Kate let the Asari live due to her cooperation and got the hell off of that planet.

Same! We definitely need a new site. Thing is I never cared for forums until I signed up here, and now...

Aw man, this saddens me so much. All the great posts and threads that will be lost... sigh. What a stupid decision :(

If someone finds a place we can all go to I am game.

I'm really going to try and finish this playthrough now. Will be tough but doable.
