I joined a Mass Effect community on Facebook and occasionally use twitter to post my playthrough and stuff but it isn't the same as the forum. I don't care for reddit since godforbid you try to have a discussion that was an unpopular opinion.

I will miss this thread the most. I haven't finish my 2016 playthrough yet as I kept playing SWTOR. I left my last playthrough at Citadel DLC and probably post some screenshots later or make some gif sets.

Where the hell am I going to go now to find people still actively playing through some of my favorite games, and connect with the story the way I do?

Yeah, gonna miss these threads....

Best thread on the BSN.

Contributors are thanked accordingly.

You guys are great.

Feel like Mike deserves some cred in keeping this thing as active as he could possibly make it.

From one mike to another, cheers.

Even when the forum will be closed down next month, it won't stop me to post in here until the last day! I don't want this to be too sappy, but this thread here is largely the reason that kept me coming back, and I felt that people were always welcome in here, people were helpful here, and friendly, and I just love you all for your creative contributions and ideas. They always brightened my day and this thread was pretty much always the first one I turned to when visiting the site each day <3

Gosh, it's gonna be tough to finish my ME2 playthrough until next month, but I'll try. I guess I will not finish Maxine's complete story on here :?

But oh well, about a future place... I know there are already a couple of people looking into it, even with backing up content from here. I will see what the next few days or weeks bring and then see where most of you guys go and follow :) For now, let's keep up this thread for as long as we can!

Oooof... I'm just coming back from drinking with Dr. Chakwas. This was some strong stuff. I'm not sure I feel entirely well, haha. It was fun to drink with her, but I definitely need some sleep now. It's gonna be some time anway until we reach the Citadel.

Oh, yes, we recruited Dr. Solus! Mordin Solus. A salarian. Talks so fast it's making my head spin, very funny to listen to. We helped him out with spreading a cure in the quarantine zone of Omega. A plague had spread fast there. Everyone but humans and vorcha was affected. I immediately regretted asking Garrus to come, because he wouldn't just go back to the Normandy. Said if we're in and out quick he'll be alright. It did turn out alright, thanks to Mordin. It was a stupid and dangerous thing to have Garrus come along, but it's done now. He's gonna be fine.

We spent a little more time on Omega to check out some stuff, but it's really a dangerous and unpleasant place. Don't like it. I really can't wait to get back to the Citadel, can't wait to see Anderson again. But I'm beat, so... I'll see you next time.

Moar pictures:

Spoiler

Well yeah, it was the most stupid idea to bring Garrus along for Mordin's recruitment for this character, but it was great to see the differences, and I just pretend Garrus insisted on coming   Combat-wise it went unexpectedly well.

I am actually going to miss this thread when the forums shut down.

I am especially going to miss the many threads detailing the game mechanics. They were invaluable for helping out new and existing players. Over the next month i am going to have to copy a lot of this information for my personal use.

A bunch of game information (a lot of it for ME3 Multiplayer) can be found on some other sources, but most of it was compiled by BSN members and shared on these forums.

But a lot of ME3 mechanics and stuff can only be found in these forums as far as I know. peddroelm, corlist, Cyonan, and others did a lot of work figuring out the ME3 game mechanics that were never explained by developers. And recently peddroelm and capn233 had figured out some ME2 mechanics that were never explained.

Going to see if I can finish Nicole Shepard's trilogy playthrough before the forums close at the end of August. I should be able to finish her ME2 run, but the ME3 run may not be finished in time.

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: Hello again, Ms. Shepard. I am glad we can continue our discussions.
NICOLE SHEPARD: And I'm glad I fart in your chair again.

BURNSIDE: What?
SHEPARD: It's the only thing I look forward to when I'm forced to come here. Before I come, I always make sure I eat something that makes my farts smell disgustingly awful.

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard...
SHEPARD: Yeah well, I'm kind of restricted with my hobbies since the Alliance has final approval of everything I do these days, so farting into your chair is sort of my thing right now.

BURNSIDE: Right. Then let's move quickly along to our next subject.
*farting sound*
SHEPARD: Whoa! That was good one!

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard...
SHEPARD: Of course, I worry that one time I will go to fart and accidentally shart instead. That would be really disgusting. Hey, do you think I can go in one of your plants instead?

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard, please take this seriously!
SHEPARD: I do take this seriously! Sitting in your own poop is seriously disgusting!

BURNSIDE: Not what I meant. Now please, let us pick up where we left off last time. We had finished discussing your mission at the Collector Ship.
SHEPARD: I would rather discuss dirty diapers.

BURNSIDE: After the Horizon, you went back to Illium and recruited an Asari named Samara.
SHEPARD: Did you know she had three kids? I bet she had deal with a lot of dirty diapers. Come to think of it, I probably should have discussed that with her.

BURNSIDE: Shepard please!
SHEPARD: I farted again.

BURNSIDE: Tell me a little about Samara.
SHEPARD: She was a Justicar, which is basically a warrior monk. Justicars travel the galaxy dispensing justice, typically with violence. It's like the Spectres but with a more rigorous code of conduct.

BURNSIDE: And how did you manage to recruit her?
SHEPARD: She was looking for a fugitive who had escaped on a ship supplied by a local Eclipse merc gang. We made a deal: if I found the name of the ship, she would join my team.

BURNSIDE: Any reason she could not find the name of the ship herself?
SHEPARD: No, she could have, but the local law enforcement was stonewalling her for some ultimately pointless reasons, so I just expidited the process. I had to kill a bunch of mercs to do it, but I eventually got the name of the ship and she agreed to join me.

BURNSIDE: You killed a bunch of mercenaries?
SHEPARD: Yeah, I do that a lot.

BURNSIDE: I see--- Shepard, what is that disgusting smell?
SHEPARD: I farted again.

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: We need to talk about your encounter with the Collector Ship.
NICOLE SHEPARD: We already did. It blew up the first Normandy, remember?

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard...
SHEPARD: Ohhh, riiight. Well, technically it was the same same Collector Ship.

BURNSIDE: But a different encounter.
SHEPARD: Please be more specific next time.

BURNSIDE: So tell me, how did you find the Collector Ship?
SHEPARD: The Illusive Man told me, said he had intercepted a Turian distress call.

BURNSIDE: And you believed him?
SHEPARD: I had no reason not to.

BURNSIDE: But it turned it out that the Turian signal was faked.
SHEPARD: Yes, but not by Cerberus.

BURNSIDE: But the Illusive Man knew it was a fake?
SHEPARD: Yes.

BURNSIDE: And the fact that he lied to you did not bother you?
SHEPARD: I was upset, but not because he lied. The Illusive Man did not lie; he just did not tell me the signal was fake. I was upset that he knowingly sent me into a trap and did not tell me it was trap.

BURNSIDE: And this is the type of man you wanted to work with?
SHEPARD: Again, I did not want to work with him, but I did not have much of a choice. The Citadel Council was ignoring the problem, and the Alliance was either ignoring the problem or incompetent in dealing with the problem. Cerberus was the only organization that was putting any real effort into stopping the Collectors, and they gave me resources to do it. So while I would have preferred to work with the Citadel Council or the Alliance, they were useless sacks of crap. Although to be fair, without me Cerberus would also be a useless sack of crap.

BURNSIDE: I see. But why would the Collectors set a trap for you when they outright destroyed the Normandy SR-1 years earlier?
SHEPARD: Probably to make sure they actually killed me this time. Plus with our success on Horizon -- we managed to counteract the effects of the seeker swarms and stop them from abducting an entire colony -- they were much more cautious. I think they wanted to lure me in and trap me, make sure I could not get away.

BURNSIDE: But you managed to get out of their trap and get away.
SHEPARD: I did, barely. But Joker is a good pilot.

BURNSIDE: And according to your reports, you thought that the Collectors would eventually target Earth.
SHEPARD: Yes. It was a giant ship, filled with the pods that the Collectors used to transfer abducted colonists. It looked to me like there were more pods than humans in the Terminus systems.

BURNSIDE: And you took that to mean they would eventually target Earth?
SHEPARD: Yes.

BURNSIDE: Forgive me, but that seems preposterous. The colonies in the Terminus systems are small and not well defended. Earth is large and heavily defended.
SHEPARD: I never said my theory was correct, only that it seemed the most plausible. The Collector Ship was freaking huge, plus it had all the seeker swarms. The strategy was pretty sound too: take out all the small insignificant colonies then strike at Earth. Plus the Collectors had more than one ship. A quick strike at the surrounding fleets and comm buoys would cripple Earth's defenses, then send out the seeker swarms to incapacitate the inhabitants. Abducting everyone would take a long time, but they would control Earth space at that point; park near the Charon relay and you can take out any potential fleets coming in to attempt a counterattack. It's pretty devastating actually.

BURNSIDE: I see you've thought about this.
SHEPARD: I'm a commander and an N7 specialist. I'm used to planning assaults. Assaulting Earth is just much larger than the type of assault I'm used to planning but the basic principles are the same.

BURNSIDE: Interesting. Your reports also mention that the Collectors were Protheans?
SHEPARD: Used to be Protheans. The Reapers had long ago transformed them into the Collectors, similar to how their technology turned humans into husks.

BURNSIDE: You mean Geth technology.
SHEPARD: We already went over this: it was Reaper technology.

BURNSIDE: But the Protheans vanished 50,000 years ago.
SHEPARD: According to the data we recovered, the Collectors had been cloning themselves over generations. They were almost more tech than organic by that point.

BURNSIDE: And no one noticed?
SHEPARD: Collectors weren't seen much in the galaxy; most people considered them a myth.

BURNSIDE: I see.

JAMES VEGA: Sorry to interrupt, doc. The committee wants to see you, commander. Anderson will be here shortly to pick you up.

BURNSIDE: Thank you Mr. Vega. Very well, Ms. Shepard. We will continue this conversation another time.

This may seems weird, but I've sort of lost all motivation to continue with Emma's playthrough, knowing it will all be for nothing and eventually removed forever.

I was enjoying thinking and writing about each mission, and putting my thoughts here and trying to be creative with screenshots.

part of the reaosn i still play ME is to post on here with the new things and stories you create, and one thing which may have tempted me to buy ME:A was being able to carry on that tradition here.

But it's all gone.

We will show 'em! Even though I also haven't touched ME since yesterday morning, because I try to finish Spec Ops - The Line today :D

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: Oh hello Ms. Shepard. You're here early. I see my secretary let you in?
NICOLE SHEPARD: I let myself in.

BURNSIDE: Okay, that is highly unusual but I am glad to see that you are eager to continue our discussions.
SHEPARD: I really had to go to the bathroom.

BURNSIDE: I see. Well then let's get started... what is that smell? Ms. Shepard, did you--- What is that in my plant?
SHEPARD: I couldn't find your bathroom.

BURNSIDE: It's the immediate left of the entrance when you walk in.
SHEPARD: I didn't actually look.

BURNSIDE: Are you telling me you purposely used my potted plant as a toilet?
SHEPARD: I had to use some of the leaves to wipe off the excess residue.

BURNSIDE: It's a rubber plant!
SHEPARD: I thought those leaves felt weird.

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard... never mind. Let's just get started.
SHEPARD: Okay!

BURNSIDE: So after the Collector Ship, you rescued the Quarian Tali from the Geth on a planet called Haestrom. What was she doing on Haestrom?
SHEPARD: Research. She was studying the system's sun. Apparently it was being destabilized by dark energy.

BURNSIDE: And how did you know she was on Haestrom.
SHEPARD: The Illusive Man told me to recruit her.

BURNSIDE: Why her? And how did he know she was there?
SHEPARD: No idea. Not really my job to know either. But she is an expert in technology, and had proven herself a reliable squadmate on the first Normandy. It seemed like a good fit.

BURNSIDE: And then you recruited an assassin named Thane. You helped him kill a former ambassador, an Asari named Nassana.
SHEPARD: I suppose I did help him. Not my original intention. She had mercs everywhere. They were killing workers left alive in the building and they opened fire at me as soon as they saw me. That caused the mercs to focus on me, leaving Thane to sneak around easier.

BURNSIDE: So that is how you justify helping an assassin kill someone?
SHEPARD: I've killed lots of people, doc. And if the Alliance ever reinstates me, I will probably end up killing a lot more people. I think you are asking me how I was able to justify helping an assassin murder someone, that's different. And Nassana had it coming. She once used me to kill her sister, a slaver. She was ordering mercs to kill people in the building just because they were there, thinking they may have been the assassin. The workers mentioned people disappearing if they complained. Nassana was a terrible person who manipulated and lied and ordered other people to do bad things. I don't regret helping Thane at all.

BURNSIDE: And you were able to justify recruiting an assassin to your team?
SHEPARD: I was already working for a group several governments branded a terrorist organization. Adding an assassin to the group did not feel like much of a stretch by that point. Plus most of his assassinations were performed at the request of the Hanar government. Kind of like what I did in the past for the Alliance except I did it as part of a team. He was a freelancer by the time I recruited him, but he still took the same kind of jobs: kill the bad men for money.

BURNSIDE: I see. And then next you went to see your old friend Liara T'soni.
SHEPARD: I prefer the term 'old squadmate' instead of friend. I wouldn't actually consider us friends. She might, but I don't.

BURNSIDE: At which point you found yourself at a trade center that was bombed by Cerberus.
SHEPARD: Wait, what? No, the building was bombed by agents of the Shadow Broker. They were trying to eliminate Liara.

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard, the news and an Asari-led investigation team said it was Cerberus that bombed the trade center.
SHEPARD: That's a lie!

BURNSIDE: And then you killed another Spectre, an Asari named Tela Vasir.
SHEPARD: She was working for the Shadow Broker. The Shadow Broker paid her to find Liara and her data, and to kill Liara if possible. She killed Liara's contact.

BURNSIDE: The Citadel Council was rather upset that you killed one of their best agents.
SHEPARD: She tried to kill me first. she used me to get to Liara and her data.

BURNSIDE: Why would a Spectre work for the Shadow Broker?
SHEPARD: Same reason I worked for Cerberus: you do what you can to get the job done to make the galaxy safer. Before she died, Vasir told me the Shadow Broker gave her good intel over the years.

BURNSIDE: I see. So what what was the data?
SHEPARD: Information on where to find the Shadow Broker. He was holding an old friend of Liara's as a prisoner. His name was Feron.

BURNSIDE: And then you found his ship?
SHEPARD: We found the ship and managed to rescue Feron. He was in poor health but alive.

BURNSIDE: And the Shadow Broker?
SHEPARD: He was never there.

BURNSIDE: I see. Well that is all the time for today I'm afraid. I have to clean the... mess... you made in my plant. Any more surprises I should be aware about?
SHEPARD: If I tell you about your desk, would it still be considered a surprise?

BURNSIDE: My desk?
SHEPARD: Goodbye doc!

I played a ton yesterday. Going to break this last bit into several parts.

Part 1

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: Hello, Ms. Shepard.
NICOLE SHEPARD: What, no 'Welcome back'?

BURNSIDE: After our last few meetings, I am rather leery of what you plan to do to try to annoy me this today.
SHEPARD: Oh good. So it's working. Excellent!

BURNSIDE: Your open hostility and sabotage is noted Ms. Shepard. I am sure the committee is most displeased.
SHEPARD: I'm sure the committee doesn't much care at this point. I think they're just throwing the both of us a bone and expecting us to think we're making a difference.

BURNSIDE: Regardless, I have a job to do and that is to continue to discuss with you the events of your time with Cerberus.
SHEPARD: And I will continue to humor you by pretending to give a crap while answering your inane questions.

BURNSIDE: Wonderful. Now after your time with Liara, you began to spend some time with each of your squadmates, correct?
SHEPARD: That is correct.

BURNSIDE: Now, first you helped Samara track down her fugitive.
SHEPARD: Yes, her daughter Morinth.

BURNSIDE: The fugitive was her daughter?
SHEPARD: Yeah. She was serial murderer. She had some weird genetic condition that would kill people she tried to mentally bond with. Apparently it gives Asari like her a europhic feeling making it highly addictive. I helped Samara track her down to a night club on Omega, then lured her away to her apartment.

BURNSIDE: And then?
SHEPARD: And then I killed Samara and let Morinth take her place.

BURNSIDE: You what!?
SHEPARD: Ha, no! Just kidding, no way would I be that stupid! No, I made sure Samara killed Morinth.

BURNSIDE: I am not sure which story to believe.
SHEPARD: I don't think it mattered in the end anyway.

Part 2

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: Next, you went to the Citadel with Thane, where you helped stopped an assassination attempt. To be honest, that's not something I expected considering you were travelling with an assassin.
NICOLE SHEPARD: Yeah well, his son had been hired to kill a Turian running for office.

BURNSIDE: And why is that?
SHEPARD: The Turian was running on an anti-human agenda, and so some human wanted to take him out.

BURNSIDE: But you managed to spare the Turian's life.
SHEPARD: I did. Not sure that was the best decision. The Turian was dirty, shaking down businesses on the Citadel. He was probably into some other dirty operations as well, wouldn't surprise me. I should have shot him, saved a lot of people a lot of trouble. But a human killing a Turian politician in front of a lot of Turian C-Sec officers would have been bad. No idea if he won or not.

BURNSIDE: I don't know, that's not in my notes. Next, you took Garrus and killed a bunch of mercs in a factory district. Why?
SHEPARD: A former C-Sec guy named Harkin was running an identity ring where he was helping people disappear by giving them new identities. We needed to track him down to find a Turian named Sidonis who had betrayed Garrus.

BURNSIDE: I understand Sidonis was shot by an assassin. They never caught the murderer. Your friend Thane do that?
SHEPARD: I'm not telling.

BURNSIDE: Then you and Miranda went poking around in one of the towers on Illium. I understand you left quite a trail of bodies along the way.
SHEPARD: I tend to do that. They were eclipse mercs, hired by Miranda's father to take her sister back to her father.

BURNSIDE: And why would he do that?
SHEPARD: Because he's scum? Not my concern, really. Miranda needed my help, so I helped her.

BURNSIDE: And then you went with Jack to an old Cerberus facility.
SHEPARD: We blew it up.

BURNSIDE: I understand Cerberus raised Jack at that facility, along with several other biotic children, where they performed experiments on them, many of them lethal.
SHEPARD: I know it's coming, so just ask it.

BURNSIDE: Why would--
SHEPARD: I work for an organization that would treat children so harshly? We've been over this before, I won't tell you again. Consult your notes.

BURNSIDE: But you have to--
SHEPARD: No I don't. The facility's logs clearly showed that the researchers were deliberately hiding information from the Illusive Man. The Illusive Man let me know that he had ordered the place shut down after he found out about the experiments and that he killed all remaining personnel on the project. I say remaining because Jack killed most of them when she escaped as a pissed-off kid. Cerberus has a lot of flaws, and its deliberate lack of oversight is its biggest flaw.

BURNSIDE: You seem awfully willing to dismiss all the terrible deeds and experiments Cerberus has performed over the years.
SHEPARD: I have not dismissed anything. Cerberus is corrupt and its structure enforces a near-complete lack of oversight over its operations. But what I did as part of Cerberus just may have saved the galaxy thank-you-very-much!

Part 3

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: Next, you went with Jacob where you managed to rescue survivors of a ship that crashed nearly ten years ago.
NICOLE SHEPARD: He got a tip about the ship's distress call. His father served on that ship.

BURNSIDE: Was his father among the survivors?
SHEPARD: When we got there he still was. After the ship had crashed, Jacob's father was put in charge. But gradually he let the situation get out of hand and people started getting exiled or killed. Long story short, the women were kept around as some sort of harem and the men eventually went feral and turned on him.

BURNSIDE: That's... that's terrible.
SHEPARD: So we called in the Alliance to rescue the people.

BURNSIDE: And Jacob's father.
SHEPARD: I let the angry men deal with him.

BURNSIDE: You let... I see. Moving on, you then went to the Migrant Fleet with Tali. Why?
SHEPARD: She was charged with treason. I had to deliver her to her trial.

BURNSIDE: And how did the trial go?
SHEPARD: Not well. Thanks to Quarian law, I had to act as her lawyer. I yelled at them, then they told us Geth had seized control of some lab ship her father was working on. Then after talking with everyone, it became apparent that they were only using Tali to hide some political bullcrap. Her father was running experiments on Geth to see if they could go to war. Long story short: I helped Tali take back the ship, found her dead father, then went back and yelled at the Quarians some more until they found Tali innocent.

BURNSIDE: Interesting. Next you went with Zaeed to an Elfeld-Ashland refinery to rescue some workers from the Blue Suns.
SHEPARD: That was the original plan.

BURNSIDE: But that is not what happened.
SHEPARD: It was Zaeed's mission. He was hired to rescue the workers from the Blue Suns. When we got there, we found out the Blue Suns' leader Vido Santiago was there. Vido tried to kill Zaeed twenty years ago. Zaeed set the refinery on fire. We had two choices: go after Vido or save the workers.

BURNSIDE: You chose to kill Vido. Why?
SHEPARD: Same reason I killed Balak instead of saving the hostages on Terra Nova years earlier: let innocent people die now to save many more innocent lives in the future. Vido was a cancer that needed to be cut out of the galaxy.

BURNSIDE: But all those people.
SHEPARD: I could hear them screaming as we chased after Vido. It reminded me of Torfan and all those slaves and other soldiers that died. But I stand by my decision because it was the right decision. I stopped a very bad man from doing even badder things in the future. The Blue Suns lost their leader. It crippled their operations for a short time.

BURNSIDE: And finally, you went to Tuchanka with Mordin.
SHEPARD: He was looking for a former colleague named Maelon.

BURNSIDE: Why was Maelon on Tuchanka?
SHEPARD: Mordin believed he had been kidnapped.

BURNSIDE: Was he?
SHEPARD: No. He had gone by his own free will.

BURNSIDE: What was Maelon doing there?
SHEPARD: Maelon was working on a genophage cure.

BURNSIDE: Did he have a cure?
SHEPARD: No.

BURNSIDE: So what happened to Maelon.
SHEPARD: He died.

BURNSIDE: I see. Now I want to talk about ---
SHEPARD: Sorry doc, that's all I can take for today. I'll see you tomorrow.

Adept Shepard on insanity...

Spoke with everyone on the Normandy before heading out to Menae. Shepard was compelled to speak to everyone, even Joker. I don't know why I bother speaking to him at this point because everything he says starts to annoy me with his smug attitude -_-. Shepard sparred with James to give him a bloody nose and then he had a neck stretch with Liara.

Touched down on Menae to extract the Turian leader. The moon had a calm and serene atmosphere despite the Reapers in the background. Shepard ran into Garrus as he always seems to turn up in unexpected places and then he fought through the Reaper force to get to Victus.

Back on the Normandy, EDI must've been looking at Wizard Of Oz vids in her spare time because she decided to become with the tinman looking for a heart . Shepard wasn't happy with the transition. Shepard then returned to the Citadel because there are a lot of side quests to start.

I know that I don't post often but this thread (and the Dragon Age equivalent) have been some of my favourite places to visit on the forum. It's a place where you could go to see creative posts, receive help when you're stuck or if you just want to vent. This thread will always remind me of when I got stuck on Noveria for a weekend . It'll be a shame when the forum closes altogether but I'll continue to post my playthrough when I can.

Just doing some UNC missions at the moment.   Playing as an infiltrator can make the game easy at times.   With Shepard, Garrus, and Ashley I wiped out Elanos Haliat and his merc gang with little difficulty since we were just sniping them from the vantage point of being on top of the hill.  I know I have complained about ME 1 sniping in the past but when done right it is arguably the most efficient and deadly way to take out a lot of goons before they even know you are there.

Thought I'd get a bunch of stuff done on the first of my two free days... nuh-uh  I'll try for more tomorrow...

Hey.

Well guess what! I'm a Spectre again. Yeah, I visited Councilor my good friend Anderson and we talked to the other Council members. I can't believe no one wants to help. The Reaper threat... they don't believe in it. So I guess... this means I'm stuck with Cerberus. Such joy. I also still can't believe that even the Alliance is doing nothing. N.O.T.H.I.N.G.

Oh well, on the plus side I got to visit the Citadel again, and we picked up a new member for our mission! Kasumi Goto, a thief. She's... very charming for someone who steals stuff on a regular basis. Heh, it's not like I never tried that. But I was young! And it was exciting and stupid. I also never did it again...

Actually, Kasumi and I got some things done, I helped her with a heist on Bekenstein. It was close to the Citadel, so we traveled there and set everything up. We crashed the party of a Donovan Hock. He stole a so-called graybox from Kasumi's former boyfriend. He killed him for it. Poor Kasumi. We were successful and retrieved the graybox, then had to fight a lot of Hock's men. Got through it in one piece.

Also, Kasumi got me a badass dress for this!! It's a shame I probably won't have the opportunity to wear it again... I'm still in it and lying on the bed, it's comfy!

We're now on the way to Korlus, where we look for a krogan to add to the team. Makes me think about Wrex. I miss him.

Well...

Gotta change my clothes and sleep a little. See you.

Spoiler

I replayed Kasumi's LM twice, because I put one point for Maxine into Hacking... After almost finishing the mission (and dying twice) it kinda dawned upon me that this might have been a bad idea. I need all the points I can get to use it on my other powers. So I reloaded and played everything again. If I keep going like that I'll never gonna finish until the forums shut down. At least I didn't die in my 2nd run

Part 1

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: Welcome back, Ms. Shepard.
NICOLE SHEPARD: Uh huh. How many more of these meetings are we going to have?

BURNSIDE: Not many more. I believe we have almost caught up with your exploits before your current, uh, situation.
SHEPARD: That's a polite way of putting it.

BURNSIDE: So, tell me about Project Overlord.
SHEPARD: It was a Cerberus project. The goal was to join a human mind with a V.I. and contact the Geth and try to broker some sort of peace with the Geth. It... didn't go so well.

BURNSIDE: I understand that the project lead, Dr. Gavin Archer, forced his own brother David into the expirement.
SHEPARD: He did. It was horrific. I would put that up near the top of my list of the worst things I have seen in my life.

BURNSIDE: But not at the very top?
SHEPARD: I have seen a lot of terrible things in my career. Sorry if I don't feel like ranking them. It's not exactly a list I like to think about.

BURNSIDE: And you rescued David?
SHEPARD: I did. I sent him to Grissom Academy. The Illusive Man and Dr. Archer were not exactly pleased with that outcome.

BURNSIDE: But you worked for Cerberus. Why did you go against what Cerberus wanted?
SHEPARD: Because the expirement was ultimately going to fail. David was their best shot at succeeding and it failed miserably. Keeping David around would not change that outcome.

BURNSIDE: I see. And did seeing such a horrific experiment change your opinion on working for Cerberus?
SHEPARD: No.

BURNSIDE: No? Why not?
SHEPARD: You assume I liked Cerberus. I never liked Cerberus, but they fixed me up and gave me the resources to protect humanity by taking down the Collectors. We've been over this, doc. Don't make me pee in your coffee again.

BURNSIDE: Yes, you have been very adamant about--- wait, what do you mean pee in my coffee 'again'?
SHEPARD: It means I peed in your coffee at least once before, and I don't want you to ****** me off to the point I want to do it again.

BURNSIDE: At least once before?
SHEPARD: I may have done it twice before. I can't remember.

BURNSIDE: I sincerely hope you are joking.
SHEPARD: You have terrible taste in coffee.

BURNSIDE: Moving on, next you boarded an ancient spaceship.
SHEPARD: It was a Reaper, doc, not just an old spaceship. It was mostly nonfunctional.

BURNSIDE: I see. And what do you mean by mostly nonfunctional?
SHEPARD: It had some basic systems active, like gravity and air. It was also maintaining an orbit around a a brown dwarf if I recall.

BURNSIDE: And how did you find this ship?
SHEPARD: Cerberus found it. You know about that great rift on the planet Klengandon? It was from an ancient weapon. Cerberus put a bunch of math geniuses on the problem to try to find the weapon and the target. They found both. The Illusive Man said the weapon was defunct -- not sure I believe him -- and the Reaper was the target. Looks like the weapon manage to kill the Reaper. Mostly.

BURNSIDE: Mostly?
SHEPARD: Seems a dead Reaper can still indoctrinate people. The Cerberus team sent to study the Reaper were all indoctrinated. They had converted themselves into husks by using Dragons Teeth. somehow a few of them were converted into Scions.

BURNSIDE: Dragons Teeth. So it was a Geth ship like Sovereign?
SHEPARD: Sovereign was a Reaper. This ship was also a Reaper. Why do you find it so hard to believe in the Reapers, doc.

BURNSIDE: Lack of evidence, mostly.
SHEPARD: And whenever I ask everyone about you, they tell me you're really smart, but I still think you're dumb. Lack of evidence to prove you're smart, mostly.

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard, please do not insult me.
SHEPARD: Oh sorry, did I say that out loud?

BURNSIDE: But on this ship you found a Geth unit?
SHEPARD: Geth platform may be more accurate. We noticed a Geth ship alongside the Reaper and later found the Geth on board the Reaper.

BURNSIDE: Wouldn't that be proof that this ship was a Geth ship and not a Reaper?
SHEPARD: The Geth helped us, probably saved our lives.

BURNSIDE: Really?
SHEPARD: Yes really. Anyway, we managed to locate the Reaper's IFF, destroyed the ship's core, then buggereed out before the Reaper fell out of orbit and was crushed.

BURNSIDE: And why did you need this IFF?
SHEPARD: To use the Omega-4 relay. Well, sort of. Anyone could use the Omega-4 relay, but anyone that tried before never came back. Cerberus hypothesized that the Collectors used a more advanced IFF to navigate the relay safely. And since they were working for the Reapers, a Reaper IFF would work. It would have been nicer to take the Collector's IFF when I was on their ship earlier, but we kind of had other priorities at the time.

BURNSIDE: And the Geth platform?
SHEPARD: I activated it when I got back to the Normandy. We named it Legion.

BURNSIDE: You named the Geth platform Legion?
SHEPARD: I did. Why? What did you name your Geth platform?

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard...
SHEPARD: What? You mean you don't have a Geth platform? Are you jealous?

BURNSIDE: Shepard, please!
SHEPARD: All right, fine. Next question?

BURNSIDE: What did you do with this Geth after you activated it?
SHEPARD: I talked to it. It was very interesting. It told me that the Geth had two factions. One faction -- the majority -- wanted to stay isolated from the rest of the galaxy. The other faction -- the heretics -- had joined the Reapers and wanted to destroy organics.

BURNSIDE: Heretics? Seems religious.
SHEPARD: Maybe. But the majority wanted the heretics destroyed. So we went to an old space station where they were located and blew them up.

BURNSIDE: So you destroyed all the, uh, 'bad Geth'?
SHEPARD: I hope so.

BURNSIDE: You hope?
SHEPARD: There is a non-zero probability that I killed them all. But that was the biggest explosion I had ever seen in space... for a few days anyway.

Part 3

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: And then after you destroyed the space station is when you went through the Omega-4 Relay?
NICOLE SHEPARD: After the Collectors abducted my crew.

BURNSIDE: The Collectors abducted your crew?
SHEPARD: You didn't know that? It pissed me off.

BURNSIDE: How did that happen?
SHEPARD: The crew needed to install and test the new IFF. Since we would go through the Omega-4 relay after the IFF was installed, I took my squadmates out to Omega for some downtime. We needed the time off to blow off some steam before we began our assault. While we were out, the Collectors showed up and took the crew. Apparently the IFF was broadcasting a signal to the Collectors and a virus disabled all the systems. Joker managed to evade the Collectors and get the Normandy up and running again.

BURNSIDE: And then you went through the Omega-4 Relay.
SHEPARD: My job was to save all of humanity from the Collectors, but 'all of humanity' is kind of hard to imagine. I knew all of the Normandy's crew. Revenge was really good motivator; abducting my crew was the final insult.

BURNSIDE: So what happened when you flew through the relay?
SHEPARD: When we decelerated, Joker managed to avoid a bunch of debris, but the Collectors had some defenses, some flying Occuluses -- Occuli? -- whatever, a bunch of flying drones that fired at us. One of them killed Jack when it punched through our ship's armor. Joker then pulled some crazy stunts through the debris field to take out the drones. Luckily our shields held up to keep us alive.

BURNSIDE: So you didn't lose anyone else?
SHEPARD: We did. The Collectors sent out a ship -- the same ship we encountered before. We managed to destroy it with some more crazy maneuvers, but their main weapon hit us pretty good and Thane was killed. We then crashed on the Collector base.

BURNSIDE: What happened then?
SHEPARD: We pinpointed the location where our crew was likely being held. We split into two teams to keep the Collecots occupied. Jacob volunteered to crawl through some vents to unlock some doors for us. The plan worked, but Jacob had trouble closing the doors and was killed by the Collectors.

BURNSIDE: And your crew?
SHEPARD: Alive. We got our crew out of the pods they trapped in, but I saw some captured colonists reduced to paste before my eyes and poured out into some tubes. That was gruesome to see. I sent Tali back with the crew to make sure the made it back to the Normandy in one piece.

BURNSIDE: Did they make it?
SHEPARD: They did. Tali as well.

BURNSIDE: That is good to hear. And the rest of your squad?
SHEPARD: We took more casualties. We split up again. I took the toughest route, through a hallway filled with seeker swarms. Samara had the idea to put up a biotic field to keep the swarms away. I let Miranda put up the bubble while I took Samara and Kasumi. I figured if Miranda got tired then Samara would take over. It didn't work out. Miranda got too tired and Samara couldn't put up the bubble in time. I managed to get Kasumi and Miranda to safety, but the seeker swarms took Samara. We met up with the second fire team, just in time to see Zaeed die in a hail of bullets.

BURNSIDE: I'm sorry to hear that.
SHEPARD: I doubt you are. You would have hated Zaeed. He's a lot like me.

BURNSIDE: What happened next?
SHEPARD: Then I took a small team to the central chamber to plant the bomb while I left the rest of the squad to guard our backs. And that's when we discovered what the Collectors were doing with the colonists.

BURNSIDE: What were they doing?
SHEPARD: Building a Reaper.

BURNSIDE: They were building a spaceship with... humans?
SHEPARD: Well they were using our genetic material as some sort of fluid in the Reaper; not sure what its purpose was exactly. We didn't exactly have the time or equipment to find out. Weird thing was, they made the Reaper look like a human.

BURNSIDE: Are you serious?
SHEPARD: Deadly serious. I mean, I've seen some messed up crap in my life, but that was pretty far out there.

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard, if you wonder why no one takes your claims of the Reapers seriously, it is because of far-fetched stories like this one.
SHEPARD: Then The Illusive Man called and told me to not destroy the base.

BURNSIDE: He told you to not destroy the base?
SHEPARD: He figured a radiation pulse would destroy the Collectors but keep all the equipment intact. It made a lot of sense. If we were going to fight the Collectors, we would need as much advanced technology and weaponry as we could find.

BURNSIDE: So what did you do?
SHEPARD: I chose to destroy the base.

BURNSIDE: Why?
SHEPARD: Because I did not fully trust Cerberus or the Illusive Man. Plus who knows how many Collectors were still out in the galaxy? They had more than one ship and I did not want them coming back to an intact base. So I blew it up.

BURNSIDE: Do you think that was the right decision, given your beliefs about the Reapers?
SHEPARD: Not really, but what's done is done. Plus that was the biggest explosion I ever saw. I don't think I'll ever see anything like that again.

Part 4

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: And now I want to talk about your destruction of a Mass Relay and the deaths of 300,000 Batarians.
NICOLE SHEPARD: I was wondering when we would get to it. You've been patient.

BURNSIDE: I suppose the big question is: why? Why did you blow up a relay?
SHEPARD: To stop the Reapers.

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard--
SHEPARD: No, you shut up and listen for a bit. This is important. I got a tip that an Alliance team had discovered evidence of an imminent Reaper invasion.

BURNSIDE: An Alliance team? Not Cerberus? Who gave you the tip?
SHEPARD: Yes, no, and that's classified. Anyway, the project lead had been captured by the Batarians so I broke her out of prison. She then took me to the asteroid, where she explained they had found a Reaper artifact on the asteroid. The object was sending or receiving some sort of signal that they interpreted as a sort of countdown. The object had given her some sort of vision that the Reapers were coming and the countdown suggested they would be in the system in about two days. Their plan was to slam the asteroid into the Mass Relay, preventing the Reapers from pouring through to the rest of the galaxy. It would buy us some time.

BURNSIDE: So you believed her and activated the project?
SHEPARD: Not right away, no. She showed me the artifact. They were sloppy and were keeping it around in the open, unshielded and unprotected. It then showed me the vision.

BURNSIDE: And the vision showed you that the Reapers coming?
SHEPARD: Yes.

BURNSIDE: So then you destroyed the Mass Relay?
SHEPARD: No, because then everyone decided to try and stop me from activating the project. They were indoctrinated.

BURNSIDE: And you were not indoctrinated?
SHEPARD: No. No idea why, really.

BURNSIDE: Have you considered that you are the one that is indoctrinated, that everyone was trying to stop you from killing 300,000 Batarians.
SHEPARD: Are you kidding me?

BURNSIDE: Think about it!
SHEPARD: No! I've come across too much evidence to believe otherwise! If you don't believe me that is your own damn fault!

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard---
SHEPARD: Shut up! Kenson and her crew kept me sedated for almost two days! The Reapers nearly came in through the relay before I woke up!

BURNSIDE: You just woke up on your own?
SHEPARD: No idea how. I'm guessing my Cerberus implants managed to counteract the sedative. I managed to break out and activate the project, lighting the fusion torches. I reached a communications tower to call the Normandy. That's when Harbinger himself talked to me. He taunted me, telling me my struggle against the Reapers was pointless. Then Joker showed up with the Normandy and we booked it out of the system before the relay was destroyed.

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard, do you have any idea of how ludicrous that sounds? There is a good reason people take your warnings about the Reapers as the ramblings of a mad woman. You spoke to a Reaper named Sovereign. Then Harbinger taunts you on the battlefield by taking control of a Collector, and then Harbinger calls you up on a communications tower. And that is to say nothing about the talking plant called a Thorian, or a 50,000 year old Prothean VI named Vigil that only you talked to.
SHEPARD: It's the truth.

BURNSIDE: I'm sorry Shepard, but nothing in your story indicates that you are mentally stable enough to be taken seriously. I am sorry.
SHEPARD: Whatever. I think we both know the committee will just ignore your report anyway.

BURNSIDE: Because of Anderson.
SHEPARD: Because of Anderson.

BURNSIDE: Very well. I believe we are done. Good day, Ms. Shepard.
SHEPARD: Yeah, well screw you.

* * *

Note: I actually completed Arrival before the suicide mission, but narratively it fits better after the suicide mission. And since Nicole never actually saw the relay explode, the Collector Base remains the biggest explosion she ever saw.

Epilogue

SAMANTHA TRAYNOR: Commander, I found this. It is addressed to you. It appears to be a V.I.

NICOLE SHEPARD: I wonder if that is the Commander Shepard V.I?

DOCTOR BURNSIDE V.I.: Hello, Ms. Shepard. I am Doctor Burnside. It is my job--

(loud noise)

NICOLE SHEPARD: Javik! Space this piece of junk out the airlock for me.

JAVIK: It is my pleasure, Commander.

I shouted the quarians into submission in order to prove Tali's innocence.  Then I destroyed a Reaper indoctrination device I found in an abandoned mind.  This last thing got me pondering ME3.  I can't help but wonder if TIM recovered the device and put Henry Lawson on the project to reassemble and use it on Horizon.  (Also noted that Garrus has a song on his playlist from "Fleet and Flotilla" - a favorite movie of Tali's; that romance was definitely in the works ahead of time.)
