I joined a Mass Effect community on Facebook and occasionally use twitter to post my playthrough and stuff but it isn't the same as the forum. I don't care for reddit since godforbid you try to have a discussion that was an unpopular opinion.

I will miss this thread the most. I haven't finish my 2016 playthrough yet as I kept playing SWTOR. I left my last playthrough at Citadel DLC and probably post some screenshots later or make some gif sets.

Where the hell am I going to go now to find people still actively playing through some of my favorite games, and connect with the story the way I do?

Yeah, gonna miss these threads....

Best thread on the BSN.

Contributors are thanked accordingly.

You guys are great.

Feel like Mike deserves some cred in keeping this thing as active as he could possibly make it.

From one mike to another, cheers.

Even when the forum will be closed down next month, it won't stop me to post in here until the last day! I don't want this to be too sappy, but this thread here is largely the reason that kept me coming back, and I felt that people were always welcome in here, people were helpful here, and friendly, and I just love you all for your creative contributions and ideas. They always brightened my day and this thread was pretty much always the first one I turned to when visiting the site each day <3

Gosh, it's gonna be tough to finish my ME2 playthrough until next month, but I'll try. I guess I will not finish Maxine's complete story on here :?

But oh well, about a future place... I know there are already a couple of people looking into it, even with backing up content from here. I will see what the next few days or weeks bring and then see where most of you guys go and follow :) For now, let's keep up this thread for as long as we can!

Oooof... I'm just coming back from drinking with Dr. Chakwas. This was some strong stuff. I'm not sure I feel entirely well, haha. It was fun to drink with her, but I definitely need some sleep now. It's gonna be some time anway until we reach the Citadel.

Oh, yes, we recruited Dr. Solus! Mordin Solus. A salarian. Talks so fast it's making my head spin, very funny to listen to. We helped him out with spreading a cure in the quarantine zone of Omega. A plague had spread fast there. Everyone but humans and vorcha was affected. I immediately regretted asking Garrus to come, because he wouldn't just go back to the Normandy. Said if we're in and out quick he'll be alright. It did turn out alright, thanks to Mordin. It was a stupid and dangerous thing to have Garrus come along, but it's done now. He's gonna be fine.

We spent a little more time on Omega to check out some stuff, but it's really a dangerous and unpleasant place. Don't like it. I really can't wait to get back to the Citadel, can't wait to see Anderson again. But I'm beat, so... I'll see you next time.

Moar pictures:

Spoiler

Well yeah, it was the most stupid idea to bring Garrus along for Mordin's recruitment for this character, but it was great to see the differences, and I just pretend Garrus insisted on coming   Combat-wise it went unexpectedly well.

I am actually going to miss this thread when the forums shut down.

I am especially going to miss the many threads detailing the game mechanics. They were invaluable for helping out new and existing players. Over the next month i am going to have to copy a lot of this information for my personal use.

A bunch of game information (a lot of it for ME3 Multiplayer) can be found on some other sources, but most of it was compiled by BSN members and shared on these forums.

But a lot of ME3 mechanics and stuff can only be found in these forums as far as I know. peddroelm, corlist, Cyonan, and others did a lot of work figuring out the ME3 game mechanics that were never explained by developers. And recently peddroelm and capn233 had figured out some ME2 mechanics that were never explained.

Going to see if I can finish Nicole Shepard's trilogy playthrough before the forums close at the end of August. I should be able to finish her ME2 run, but the ME3 run may not be finished in time.

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: Hello again, Ms. Shepard. I am glad we can continue our discussions.
NICOLE SHEPARD: And I'm glad I fart in your chair again.

BURNSIDE: What?
SHEPARD: It's the only thing I look forward to when I'm forced to come here. Before I come, I always make sure I eat something that makes my farts smell disgustingly awful.

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard...
SHEPARD: Yeah well, I'm kind of restricted with my hobbies since the Alliance has final approval of everything I do these days, so farting into your chair is sort of my thing right now.

BURNSIDE: Right. Then let's move quickly along to our next subject.
*farting sound*
SHEPARD: Whoa! That was good one!

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard...
SHEPARD: Of course, I worry that one time I will go to fart and accidentally shart instead. That would be really disgusting. Hey, do you think I can go in one of your plants instead?

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard, please take this seriously!
SHEPARD: I do take this seriously! Sitting in your own poop is seriously disgusting!

BURNSIDE: Not what I meant. Now please, let us pick up where we left off last time. We had finished discussing your mission at the Collector Ship.
SHEPARD: I would rather discuss dirty diapers.

BURNSIDE: After the Horizon, you went back to Illium and recruited an Asari named Samara.
SHEPARD: Did you know she had three kids? I bet she had deal with a lot of dirty diapers. Come to think of it, I probably should have discussed that with her.

BURNSIDE: Shepard please!
SHEPARD: I farted again.

BURNSIDE: Tell me a little about Samara.
SHEPARD: She was a Justicar, which is basically a warrior monk. Justicars travel the galaxy dispensing justice, typically with violence. It's like the Spectres but with a more rigorous code of conduct.

BURNSIDE: And how did you manage to recruit her?
SHEPARD: She was looking for a fugitive who had escaped on a ship supplied by a local Eclipse merc gang. We made a deal: if I found the name of the ship, she would join my team.

BURNSIDE: Any reason she could not find the name of the ship herself?
SHEPARD: No, she could have, but the local law enforcement was stonewalling her for some ultimately pointless reasons, so I just expidited the process. I had to kill a bunch of mercs to do it, but I eventually got the name of the ship and she agreed to join me.

BURNSIDE: You killed a bunch of mercenaries?
SHEPARD: Yeah, I do that a lot.

BURNSIDE: I see--- Shepard, what is that disgusting smell?
SHEPARD: I farted again.

DOCTOR BURNSIDE: We need to talk about your encounter with the Collector Ship.
NICOLE SHEPARD: We already did. It blew up the first Normandy, remember?

BURNSIDE: Ms. Shepard...
SHEPARD: Ohhh, riiight. Well, technically it was the same same Collector Ship.

BURNSIDE: But a different encounter.
SHEPARD: Please be more specific next time.

BURNSIDE: So tell me, how did you find the Collector Ship?
SHEPARD: The Illusive Man told me, said he had intercepted a Turian distress call.

BURNSIDE: And you believed him?
SHEPARD: I had no reason not to.

BURNSIDE: But it turned it out that the Turian signal was faked.
SHEPARD: Yes, but not by Cerberus.

BURNSIDE: But the Illusive Man knew it was a fake?
SHEPARD: Yes.

BURNSIDE: And the fact that he lied to you did not bother you?
SHEPARD: I was upset, but not because he lied. The Illusive Man did not lie; he just did not tell me the signal was fake. I was upset that he knowingly sent me into a trap and did not tell me it was trap.

BURNSIDE: And this is the type of man you wanted to work with?
SHEPARD: Again, I did not want to work with him, but I did not have much of a choice. The Citadel Council was ignoring the problem, and the Alliance was either ignoring the problem or incompetent in dealing with the problem. Cerberus was the only organization that was putting any real effort into stopping the Collectors, and they gave me resources to do it. So while I would have preferred to work with the Citadel Council or the Alliance, they were useless sacks of crap. Although to be fair, without me Cerberus would also be a useless sack of crap.

BURNSIDE: I see. But why would the Collectors set a trap for you when they outright destroyed the Normandy SR-1 years earlier?
SHEPARD: Probably to make sure they actually killed me this time. Plus with our success on Horizon -- we managed to counteract the effects of the seeker swarms and stop them from abducting an entire colony -- they were much more cautious. I think they wanted to lure me in and trap me, make sure I could not get away.

BURNSIDE: But you managed to get out of their trap and get away.
SHEPARD: I did, barely. But Joker is a good pilot.

BURNSIDE: And according to your reports, you thought that the Collectors would eventually target Earth.
SHEPARD: Yes. It was a giant ship, filled with the pods that the Collectors used to transfer abducted colonists. It looked to me like there were more pods than humans in the Terminus systems.

BURNSIDE: And you took that to mean they would eventually target Earth?
SHEPARD: Yes.

BURNSIDE: Forgive me, but that seems preposterous. The colonies in the Terminus systems are small and not well defended. Earth is large and heavily defended.
SHEPARD: I never said my theory was correct, only that it seemed the most plausible. The Collector Ship was freaking huge, plus it had all the seeker swarms. The strategy was pretty sound too: take out all the small insignificant colonies then strike at Earth. Plus the Collectors had more than one ship. A quick strike at the surrounding fleets and comm buoys would cripple Earth's defenses, then send out the seeker swarms to incapacitate the inhabitants. Abducting everyone would take a long time, but they would control Earth space at that point; park near the Charon relay and you can take out any potential fleets coming in to attempt a counterattack. It's pretty devastating actually.

BURNSIDE: I see you've thought about this.
SHEPARD: I'm a commander and an N7 specialist. I'm used to planning assaults. Assaulting Earth is just much larger than the type of assault I'm used to planning but the basic principles are the same.

BURNSIDE: Interesting. Your reports also mention that the Collectors were Protheans?
SHEPARD: Used to be Protheans. The Reapers had long ago transformed them into the Collectors, similar to how their technology turned humans into husks.

BURNSIDE: You mean Geth technology.
SHEPARD: We already went over this: it was Reaper technology.

BURNSIDE: But the Protheans vanished 50,000 years ago.
SHEPARD: According to the data we recovered, the Collectors had been cloning themselves over generations. They were almost more tech than organic by that point.

BURNSIDE: And no one noticed?
SHEPARD: Collectors weren't seen much in the galaxy; most people considered them a myth.

BURNSIDE: I see.

JAMES VEGA: Sorry to interrupt, doc. The committee wants to see you, commander. Anderson will be here shortly to pick you up.

BURNSIDE: Thank you Mr. Vega. Very well, Ms. Shepard. We will continue this conversation another time.

This may seems weird, but I've sort of lost all motivation to continue with Emma's playthrough, knowing it will all be for nothing and eventually removed forever.

I was enjoying thinking and writing about each mission, and putting my thoughts here and trying to be creative with screenshots.

part of the reaosn i still play ME is to post on here with the new things and stories you create, and one thing which may have tempted me to buy ME:A was being able to carry on that tradition here.

But it's all gone.

I feel a bit that way, but we can't let them crush us! There are plans in motion that the forums (or part of them) will be backed up, and I actually already made a copy of this thread too

We will show 'em! Even though I also haven't touched ME since yesterday morning, because I try to finish Spec Ops - The Line today :D
