What did you do today in the Mass Effect trilogy

Then, abruptly, all of time and space seemed to stand still. I couldn't move. There was a loud, thunderous sound... and then silence. Everything became dark.
A moment later, I recovered; still at the same place I had been before... standing aside Kaidan. But when I tried to ask him about what might have happened, he pretended as though we hadn't spoken at all. He restarted our entire conversation from the beginning, as if he hadn't already said a word of it. Not wanting to sound crazy, I just said exactly what I had the first time. And that was that.
Am I going mad? Should I ask the doctor if this is somehow connected to the beacon from Eden Prime? Or is Kaidan trying to wipe my memory with his biotics?
Who can I even trust anymore?
Shepard out.

Strange occurrence aboard the Normandy last night. While chatting up Kaidan about his past, his voice suddenly disappeared in midsentence. His mouth still moved, as if to speak, but I could no longer hear him.

Are you suddenly convinced you are the most powerful biotic ever? Do you feel like a great biotic wind? You may be overdoing the Minogen. You might want to consider rehab. Is the Betty Ford clinic still around in 2183?

Started up again at the collector base. Shep, Jack and Mordin did an amazing job getting to the central chamber. Mordin learned from his last trip off the Normandy to pay attention to where he was going and he came out unharmed. Tali worked her Tech magic as always and was able to get the door open for me. Being stuck on the other side shooting endless mob s of collectors was kinda fun but darn it we had a mission to do and target practice could wait. Once inside we saw the crew and Colonist inside the same pods we had seen back on Horizon. Suddenly they started melting
it was to late for the colonist but I will not lose my crew!
With the crew saved for the moment I decided to send Mordin with them back to the Normandy. His time with STG will be helpful. Jack created the biotic field I needed to get past the room of seeker swarms. Thane and Legion went with me on the trip down the creepy passage but my girl Jack
was able to use through safely. I left the others behind to guard the entrance while Jack, Kasumi and I got on that damn floating thing they always fly around on and followed the tubes. We found a human reaper
I destroyed it and the collector base, the Illusive man was not happy about this but I had finally finished the mission I was brought back for. The entire crew had survived we had officially done the impossible.
Once we came back through the Omega 4 relay I headed to Liara's new ship. I invited her up to the cabin she looked kinda rough and maybe she could use a friend right now. We talked for awhile aboard the Normandy where she gave me my tags and asked about Jack. She was not to happy with my response but darn that crazed biotic I care for her and want to help her see the world a new way.
With everything done I loaded into ME3 update on that later!

Just finished the Geth Incursion mission, didn't hit 50 as expected. Gave Tali the data after some careful consideration. This Shepard doesn't like the way the Quarians handled the Geth, but right now they are my enemies so I gave it to her.
Was hoping to hit 50 for Spectre X gear, but oh well. Still gonna do some shopping first though, I want a good armor for Tali. I don't use the vendor reload trick to get good items so I gotta get lucky ![]()
I'm also in the mood for some elevator conversations, as I have a fully new squad who I haven't heard talking in this game so far. Gonna be a tourist I suppose, heh. (my normal team for this game got heavily disrupted on Virmire, as I used Ashley and Kaidan being an Alliance Shepard to the core and a bit distrustful of aliens. Being forced on Virmire to use aliens changed this Shepard's perspective, heh. Also, after losing Kaidan he don't wants to lose Ashley, who he's getting quite close with... and Liara's battlefield power was impressive)
This is why Liara is the best squadmate:

All that crowd control ![]()
Tali ain't that bad either though, and both have nice, short cooldowns.

My Human-Centric/RacistShep is going to use Ashley+Kaidan the whole game until Kaidan goes, then I'll replace him with Wrex, who will be viewed more as a tool than a friend.
Wait, no, Wrex might die. Depends on how the Virmire convo will go (and I don't like how friendly things can be with him later in series for this). I guess I'll use Garrus? Certainly not Liara.

My man, kill all those damn aliens!!!
Nah, I don't really mind the aliens being around, I just prefer to play with the human squadmates in the trilogy, saving the galaxy along with members of my own race.
ME1: Ash and Kaidan till Kaidan had to die(RIP my human brother), then I had to play with Liara the rest of the game.
ME2: Two out of Miranda, Jacob, Zaeed, Jack and Kasumi, except on LM's of course.
ME3: Ash and Vega, though I had to replace Ash with other squadmates, mainly Garrus, until she came back from the damned Hospital.
Team Humanity!!! Go!Go!Go!

Booo. It's not a 'kill all aliens' one. Sometimes I'll just yell at them. Sometimes I'll just view them as manipulators who want to keep humanity down (and tbh I half believe that with how the MEU is presented sometimes, even if there is good reasons by the aliens).
I'm not sure I'll ever play a 'kill ALL/any aliens I can' playthrough.
My own MainShep is mostly alien friendly. On my older 360 profile, I brought Legion and Thane on the last Collector Ship bit, Wrex and Tali to Saren-Sovereign, and Javik and Kaidan(LI) on the end London run. Only deaths ended up being Ashley, Morinth(duh), Mordin(duh), Thane(duh), Legion(duh), and EDI(Destroy--but she made clear she was ready for it), along with the Geth (no more compromise!)

Wow.
Seeing those character screens again with the icons and bar charts denoting skills and capabilities has reminded me just how the fundamental game mehcanics of this series changed between 1 and 3.

I'm not playing a human centrist though. Just a human who's been with the Alliance all his life. Spacer/War Hero ![]()

Fantastic - simply fantsastic visuals.
I wish I could go back to ME1 or ME2 and experience those environments again. ( for me... that'd be without ME3's drag factor )
Imagine what that'd be like on PS4 Mprpheus (or PC FaceRift). But then I had 1000's of hours on "X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter" Freespace and Privateer before a 3rd person shooter called Mass Effect even existed.

Fantastic - simply fantsastic visuals.
Have to thank some talented modders out there who did the textures, and of course just throwing raw horsepower at the game to smooth out the rough edges.
I have some plans for some ME3 modding, as that is more extensive and easier to do... with more options, especiialy with femshep.

I really don't see how it is possible to do a racist Shepard given the constraints of the story. You HAVE to recruit at least some aliens along the way particularly in ME2. After Virmire you are FORCED to use aliens in the squad. Aliens such as Mordin become crucial to stopping the Collectors. And in ME3 the entire story centers around Shepard recruiting alien allies to help defeat the Reaper threat. There are simply no story options to allow you to RP a Shepard who is 100% anti-alien.

When it comes down to it, that is absolutely true.
In ME1 you can. The aliens you take with you can still be regarded in the scripts as tools for the mission and little more.
In ME2 Shepard largely doesn't go anti/pro alien and just accepts them. The new prejudice focus is towards ...omg..synthetics and the more weird stuff in the galaxy (Collector tech, biotic experiments, etc).
In ME3 Shepard largely at least tolerates the presence of everything in the galaxy. Even when you sabotage the Genophage cure, it's not because you hate all krogan, but because you deem them a huge danger and prefer salarian support instead. The 'new' prejudice focus is towards the Reapers, and maintains itself until near the end, where Shepard can more visibly and vocally weaken in his resolve and wonder if the Reapers could be controlled, or in general if the Reapers are just another form of life with its own reasoning that could be understood instead of Lovecraftian unknowable. Content like Leviathan and Citadel and maybe Omega DLC, at least when played Paragonly, will continue this trend if you wish.
So yeah, I can't only be ShepardRacist in ME1. In ME2 I just have to settle with being anti-synthetic and limit my approval of aliens. In ME3 I'll just do what I can to communicate a wish for human dominance over alien approval (which is still possible throughout the whole series).
Pro-human may be a better term than Racist, but Racist is good for me to say because it means that I won't just try to promote humanity, but will actively seek out the lines that insult aliens and put them as below me, when possible.
Some may find this RP ridiculous but when you put it into current-human perspective IRL, seeing the aliens we see, even as personable as they appear, would be downright shocking and scary to many people. And it's true that it isn't like the aliens don't have agendas of their own that conflict with humans' goals.
In fact, I feel the next game will be all about that..

I have to say - great post.
Human. Alien. Causcasian White American. Black. Gay.
I was brought up to respect everyone equally - whatever the gender, ethinicity, orientation, religion. or personal background
I find it deeply offensive in the 21st century when... savages (for want of a better term)... run against that.
With that in mind, a "racist" shepard in the future is IMO a laughable anachronism.

Well I really mean speciesist.
It's only been what, a couple decades since humanity stepped in? A few decades since the mass relay was discovered?
The contact with the Citadel probably turned inner-humanity bigotry obsolete, and the contact with Reapers probably turned inner-galactic bigotry the same way - at least partially. As it is, with Shepard's journey, by the end of it he cannot show outright hate/distaste/disgust at aliens. Bigger 'fish' to fry.
