Have to say, I was surprised I had to do the Collecter ship so soon; I've only done the first three sets of recruitment.

You only get 5 missions between Horizon and the Collector Ship if you have 8 squadmates. (Unless you do a mission, like either Mordin's, Grunt's, or Miranda's LM, that leaves you on a hub world and not back on the Normandy.) If you have only 7 squadmates you can do as many missions as you like, but if you do any more than 5 missions and then pick up an 8th squadmate, your next mission will be the Collector Ship.

Once you have done the Collector Ship you can do the Reaper IFF right away. But after that you have to wait 2 missions before the kidnapping if you have any active loyalty quests. This is how you are able to do Legion's LM before the kidnapping. (You can also arrange to save Tali's LM until after the Reaper IFF and then bring Legion to her trial.)

Doing our continued play through of all the with my Wife Doni as co-pilot. Right now in ME2, just finished "overlord" last night. I thought it was a really good DL to plat through. We have all the downloads for this play through. Going to go get Jack tonight right after Kasumis LM is done.

The adventures of Commander Yosef Shepard in ME1 continue. I played from Eden Prime up to the first Council meeting. 

 

Saren definitely didn't seem to have as much of a Reaper glow back then as he does in my avatar picture. It must be the upgrades. Always love watching the scene when he activates the beacon, and the one where he loses his temper when Shepard activates the beacon - I have an avatar of that too. 

 

Eden Prime was fun. I switched the difficulty up to Normal (usually play on Casual) because the geth were getting killed off too fast and I wanted to use my powers + flaming bullets more. And I found all the bombs to disarm before a critical mission failure happened (which has many times happened before in previous playthroughs). 

 

So, Shepard lost Jenkins and recruited Ashley. They actually got along better than I remember from his last playthrough. He has the Sole Survivor background himself, so he can relate to the feeling of losing your squad, and although upset about Jenkins' death he reassured Ashley that she belongs on the Normandy. When he expressed his thoughts that the mission failed, Ashley told him that he saved a lot of lives, which was something he needed to hear.

 

I was very surprised by how that conversation played out this time around. I could have sworn there were other dialogue options that I chose last time but didn't appear now. There was a line where Ashley mentions Akuze and Shepard can respond by saying "I survived because I refused to die", which lead to her saying that something must have been watching over him - but Shepard couldn't respond to that, even though I remember there being a line where Shepard missed her meaning entirely and took it as someone is watching him, sounding a little paranoid about that. I loved that line because it was such a good way for me to define that suspicious/paranoid part of his personality in-game. Does the conversation I'm thinking of happen later? 

 

Shepard also spoke briefly with Anderson. The order of dialogue options I chose, anger about the lack of intel that caused their mission failure and then remorse about Jenkins, made it seem like one lead to the other - Shepard briefly losing his temper because of what happened to Jenkins. It was a nice touch. 

 

Then the whole gang went to the Citadel. Shepard met Garrus, but they didn't get to talk long before the Council meeting. Still, it left a good first impression that Garrus is one of the few people on his side, especially for an Earthborn who's usually not too fond of cops. 

 

I played the Council meeting a few different ways, not sure I'm happy with it though. I tried to keep Yosef mostly serious and collected during the trial and it started off that way, but when Saren makes a comment about humans there's only two ways to respond - saying that he attacked Eden Prime because he hates humans (and I'd rather have this Shepard think he did it just because he wanted the beacon and didn't care about destroying an entire colony to cover it up), or threatening to kill him right in front of the Council. I did notice that the Paragon responses seem to address the Council more, while the Renegade responses are mostly directed at Saren. I'll replay this again tomorrow after I decide which lines best fit the character I'm trying to portray. 

 

In the conversation with Anderson afterwards, I got to express some of Shepard's opinions about Saren so far. Yosef can be a well-intentioned extremist himself at times, and even sounded a little defensive when Anderson spoke against Saren's methods in the past because he can actually relate to that line of thought. Throughout the game, he does respect Saren as a worthy opponent and understands some of his views even though he doesn't always agree with them, so I tried to show that in the dialogue, particularly when they speak about humanity getting a seat on the Council because Saren just brought that up during his trial.

Watched my boyfriend play my sentinel on the xbox to Flaming Lips. This summer, I'll be back in places with fast internet... I should download the trilogy on the new computer and very possibly fraps. I've always wanted to make one of them new fangled Shepard music videos.

 

Anyway, Yoshimi is currently breaking into the Shadow Broker's ship. And the boytoy's kicking booty, considering he doesn't LIKE to play on hardcore much.

I finished me2 last week and I guess I'm a strange person because I went back to me1. I created a custom male shepard. I used the default on in my me2 run and like the va enough that I went back. I am almost to Saren on the citadel and I am not sure who if anyone he will romance in 2. The last one did Jack not sure if this one will replace that playthrough or if I should branch out and try a different one.

I always just assume Kaidan is in the back explaining its a human thing for women to be bad drivers. I don't think thats true but I get told that a lot.

I've always paragon'ed it, so I dunno how it plays out if you're renegading, but it's poignant in its own way, like Jack's. I find Tali's LM adds to it -- no different content or anything but what there is fits better.

I think I will try hers. Maybe I will get a better appreciation for the Quarians. I am being very open minded in this playthrough compared to normal.

I'm doing the same thing only opposite...if you see my meaning. I'm being open-minded about a strictly renegade playthrough.

Argh, i had a few paragraphs written and edited and all shiny and nice to update my renegade playthrough, and I accidentally refreshed the page and lost it all. One of these days I'm going to learn to copy/paste. Been meaning to for years.

 

Crap. 

 

To sum up, I've taken the crew and my new ship on a magical mystery tour of every mass relay we could reach on our way to Feros, hopefully still hot on Saren's trail. Feros isn't exactly a vacation spot. I can't imagine he spent too much time there. But we were in luck; after collecting dozens of mineral samples, old asari writings. old turian insignias, old salarian medallions and old old old prothean data disks, and after killing dozens of geth and aliens and even a few space monkeys, we arrived at Feros and killed some more geth... and a giant plant that was mind-controlling everyone on the planet. I killed it. Hey, I'm the butcher of Torfan, of course I killed it. I also decided I couldn't risk anyone who had been under its influence becoming a danger to anyone else so I purged the planet. I wonder if ExoGeni will give me Jeong's paycheck for that. 

 

Told the council about it afterwards. Hung up on them when the turian started insulting humanity. Jeez, anyone who thinks humans hold a grudge over Shanxi hasn't met a turian yet. 

 

Next we're off to Noveria to hopefully catch up to Saren's right-hand asari matriarch. Some of the crew is suggesting we go pick up her daughter first, but I don't have time for that. She can wait.

You just do whatever you want until the decision chamber, then you refuse. All females killed? CHECK.
