I still have much to learn about playing on insanity. I was thinking about setting up overload chains, and then incapacitating like two or three guys at once, then letting my turret or drone get a couple extra shots in.

How do you spec your Drone, Turret and Overload?

Combat Drone: Rank 4b(Detonate), Rank 5a(Shock), Rank 6b(Chain Lightning)

Sentry Turret: Rank 4b(Shock), Rank 5b(Armor Piercing Ammo), Rank 6b(Flamethrower)

Overload: Rank 4a(Chain Overload), Rank 5a(Neural Shock)(Rank 5b for Story Mode), Rank 6a(Chain Overload)

The best reason for choosing Neural Shock though isn't even on the ability description. Without that evolution Neural Shock only does half damage against Organics.

can you clarify that for me? Which evolution do you mean, neural shock itself?

Neural Shock does a bit more damage towards organic targets as well as incapacitating them. It also ragdolls....

After a little experimentation -- and several thousand credits spent in the medbay *ahem* -- that's exactly what I ended up with, except for 5b on overload.

I liked the inferno armor on my last playthrough for my engineer, for the power cooldown and damage bonuses. If you couldn't take the helmet off like in ME2, I wouldn't wear it.

You can take the helmets off? How did I not know this? Now I'll get to use some those armors. I like to see the faces of the characters I spent so long creating, so I come up with reasons why they don't wear them most of the time - Yosef being a crazy Vanguard who thinks he needs no helmet, etc. (But when he had to throw around a bunch of gas grenades on Feros, he wore his helmet.)

Speaking of Feros, just finished it up today. My Shep's back on his ship now, so the next mission summary will be from his POV.

For combat drone, never use Rank 5b and Rank 6a together.....

In ME3 only (not ME2)  you can have it set in the game options, to have the helmets off in dialogue. That works for the full suit armors as well. They're back on by default when you're in combat, though

I think I've seen that option before, but didn't know it could also be used for the full suits. That's good. Dialogue is the most important time to see their faces anyway.

Yeah in combat you're only gonna see the back of shep's head anyway, heh. Doesn't work in ME2, you're stuck with the full suit of full suit armors all the time.

How come?

Rank 5a involves the Drone getting closer, which means the evolution will make the Combat Drone move in closer to enemies to shock them. Rank 6a will cause the combat drone to move farther from the enemies to shoot rockets. This will cause of both of those evolution ranks to compete, causing the drone to not be as helpful as it would be. You can say it puts the drone in a dilemma of what to do.

I don't think this applies to missions where the helmet must stay on.

You know, I actually noticed that when I was trying out the rockets. I hated the rockets because of that, my drone was always trying to get into a better spot. Jeez, maybe when Legion was handing out reaper code upgrades left, right and center I should have thrown a drone at him.

While on the subject of combat drones, would Synthesis grant them sentience? If so I would gladly give my life so that Dribbles and Shoots would be free to live their own lives.

I love shep's expression there, he's like: psst, Nyxeris... cue up some romantic music too.

No no no, I'm with Ashley this time around :P

And aside from calling me a God, she wasn't that nice at Horizon :(

No you're right, but there's not too too many of those in ME3.

We were talking a bit about the VS in the romance garrus thread, and how they treat shep in ME2 and 3.

Meh, I'm dealing with it this game since Tianshi is fiercely anti-Cerberus and I'm sticking up for the Alliance any chance I get. All other Sheps that romanced Ashley pretty much ended the relationship on Horizon, but Tianshi won't, so far.

Ahh oklay, that's cool. That's usually how I play it too. Not this time though, Ash is in for a rude awakening.

Garrus doing his own stand-in work on mars, heh. And shep's expression there is absolutely perfect. What kind of gun is that Grunt is carrying? it looks deadly.

The actual N7 logo on the armor looks pretty crappy and blurry with the actual textures. I use an N7 armor texture mod which makes it look 10x better! I like using it when I'm not feeling lazy to load some textures for the game.

Ahh okay, I've never gotten into texture modding. I wanted to for ME1, but the download size for the texture files is too much for a guy on bandwidth limits.
