What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I like the visceral feel of the class. You can feel like a hero when jumping into combat, and going toe to toe with the darkspawn. The finishing moves add a great touch, and seem to trigger more often for the Warrior rather than the Rogue. I still remember the end of the battle with the first Ogre you encounter. It was an epic feeling.

The class operates well as a "tank" archetype, and while utilitarian, the role is needed and done well. I enjoy the fact that there are talents that allow flexibility in the balance between damage/threat/survivability.

That being said, I find the Warrior class to be the most pigeonholed of the three. The Mage has way more talents to choose from, while the Rogue seems to have more leeway in their choices. Having to hyper specialize to be effective leaves the Warrior feeling like he has fewer options.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

Not horribly so, but like the Rogue, it seems to fill a minor niche to help bolster the Mage, who in turn carries the team.

My one big issue is that the class can be dull when you have to pile on the Sustained abilities to be an effective tank, and constantly run out of stamina.

I haven't noticed anything overpowered about the Warrior.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

My favorite specialization, which came as a surprise, was the Templar. It isn't the most effective, or the most needed for any particular role, but it has a ton of style, and is heavily entrenched in the game. I like the "Holy Warrior" archetype, and the Templar is the closest you get in this game.

My least favorite is the Berserker. I like the premise, I'm not a huge fan of the execution. It's mechanically fine, I just find that it lacks the "style" of a Berserker. I don't get the feeling that this is a character unleashing primal rage. I find it lacking in some way. It lacks a certain... brutality.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Sword and Shield feels just about right. Nice mix of abilities. My one issue is that it has quite a few Sustained abilities, which can limit choice.

Two Handed seems too slow by and large. The swings take forever, and you end up with a ton of wasted animation as you wind up for the swing, only to have a team mate finish that enemy off. A lack of AoE ability is something that seems odd as well, especially considering the size of the weapons.

Two Weapon Fighting seems about right to me. It's stat reliant, but I like the way it feels out.

Archery seems like the red headed stepchild of the warrior trees. It's not that it isn't effective, it's just that it doesn't seem to fit as well as it does with the Rogue. Building a Rogue that dabbles between melee and ranged seems workable. It doesn't feel the same way with a Warrior.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I've always loved playing the Warrior class in various RPG's.  I just love getting a new set of armor, and watching your character's physical strength grow as she cleaves the heads off enemies.

In DA:O, I particulaly liked the Sword and Shield school.  I liked that the Shield was not a purely defensive item like in many other games, but the talents actually used the shield as an offensive weapon.  I liked that the Warrior had a fairly large selection of armor and weapons to choose from, and that the Warrior could get some "mage-like" abilities by pursuing the specializations.

I did not like that there was little to make the Warrior distinct from the Rogue (and to some extent the Mage) classes.  Aside from the weapon talents, the Warrior gets very few class talents, and the talents that she does get are very geared towards a defender-style role.  I would have liked more variety in the talents, similar to what the Rogue has.  As for the mage, I felt like the Arcane Warrior specialization detracted from the uniqueness of the Warrior further.

Now you have Rogues running around with the same weapons and more talents, and the mage running around wearing the same armor.  All the Warriors got were Shields, and two-handed weapons (which were underpowered).

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

The Constitution stat seemed like a completely wasted stat.  While all the other statistics do something for your character, Consitution just gives a few hitpoints.  This stat was underpowered, and meant that the best Warriors tended to go for Strength and Dexterity, which is also not very different from a Rogue.

Two-handed weapons also seemed underpowered, and dual-wielding seemed quite overpowered (especially in the hands of a Rogue, but also with the Warrior).  You could deal much more damage with a few daggers and a ton of enchantment runes than you could with a massive hammer and a ton of strength.  That just doesn't seem right to me.  Big smashy thing > tiny pointy thing.  This game had it backwards.

A lot of the imbalance stems from Momentum, which claims to use up fatigue quickly, but really has no noticeable effect other than to make your character attack at lightning speed.  Momentum should either have a very limited time where it can be activated, where you can see your stamina bar dropping rapidly with each attack, or the two-handed weapon school should have gotten a similar talent, making a two-handed Warrior with a large amount of strength able to swing the two-handed sword with the same ease as someone wielding a longsword.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

I thought Champion was a perfect fit for the noble defender style of character.  Good abilities, and it fits in well with the role-playing aspects of the game.

I found Templar was rather annoying, as you would constantly strip beneficial effects from your own party members, reducing its usefulness.  There also aren't enough places where the Templar abilities are really all that helpful.  Enemy mages tend to die so quickly that attacking their mana reserves or stripping their beneficial effects doesn't really help.  Just poke them a few times with your sword and move on.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Sword and Shield was my favourite, because it was the only useful talent set that was unique to the warrior class.  It also had a good mix of offensive and defensive abilities, and the defensive abilities had good trade-offs (do I reduce attack or damage?), and good counters for the abilities of other classes (no flanking, no knock-down).

Two-Handed weapons were my least favourite.  Mainly because they felt very underpowered, considering that you're using the strongest character with the largest weapon and getting out-damaged by everyone else, and the abilities seemed to focus more on crowd control and reducing the enemy's effectiveness, rather than pure smashy-smashy fun, which is what I would have expected from this set of talents.  Some of the talents (bonuses against golems and constructs?) also seemed out-of-place when you consider how few of these enemies you face, and how early you get those talents.

I was also quite disappointed that the warriors have such great weapon selection, but the game basically forces you to use Alistair if you want a shield, and to not have any Warriors that specialize in Dual Wield or Two-Handed weapons.  I thought Oghren would have been better suited to Sword and Shield or Dual Wield, rather than having both Sten and Oghren specialize in the two-handers.

Warrior's never been my favourite class, mainly because it's not as involving as playing a Mage or Rogue, there's less micromanagement in the class. A Warrior's general job is to take the hits and walk around swinging his weapon, and while he's good at this it's not very interesting being involved in him doing this. When I went a Dwarven Warrior I ended up controlling Morrigan most of the time simply because she had more varied and interesting combat options.

More combat animations (especially death blows) would go a long way towards making sword/axe/hammer play more interesting to be involved in, and abilities like Two-Handed Sweep/Shield Bash/Fully Boosted War Cry make his presence on the battlefield more felt (ie. it makes playing him a bit more than just running between enemies hacking bits off).

But the main reason I don't enjoy Warrior is that there's little more tactics to him than sending him in and using some abilities once he starts swinging. With Rogue and Mage you have to worry about positioning, where to attack from to get a backstab, placement of AoE spells, Spell Combinations, etc. Their relative vulnerability also means you have to be careful about how you execute your intended course of action. It makes them much more involving and interesting to play. While you might want to control a Warrior to make the most out of him, there's usually not much you can do that tactics can't.

Of all the Warrior characters, I'd say the most interesting is Shale, simply because her size and lore loosens up some of the restrictions you might have put on yourself in the name of realism, and allowed her to have some very interesting abilities. The changing of 'modes', which alters your stats and allows use of a select few powers, gives her a refreshing feel and makes her a very versatile tool on the battlefield. Also her abilities just scream "power", and that's the kind of thing people expect of Warriors, but as it is all that seems to differentiate between the effect of a normal Warrior's blow and that of a Rogue's currently is the numbers popping up above their heads.

# What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

====================================

- Next to a mage, its my second favorite.

- I love being able to wear the different types of armor, weapons, and shields.

- Warrior's appeal to me is the ability for me to play the warrior anyway I want, such as shield and sword, two hander, dual wield, and ranged.

- i dislike not getting enough talents to be able to tap into this versatility without cheating. Mind you I dont want to have maxed out all 4 styles by level 14 but we should get enough talents to allow us to strongly focus in two styles without neglecting our specializations by level 14.

- I dislike mismatched and badly colored armor. Why can't vendors always sell full sets of armor and in different colors? I mean, as a hero, I should not look like Pippi Longstocking or a rusted tin man while saving the world from dark spawn. We need more in game coloring/tinting options. What good are blacksmiths if all they can do is make dragon scale armor? Why not allow them to tint or recolor a set of armor for a fair price? Yes there are mods, but I don't want to scour all of Ferelden to change the color of my armor or risk messing the game up. Maybe add smithing/tinting as an additional skill we can put points into besides poison making.

- I dislike using helms and seeing them in cut scenes. Wish they only appear when combat starts. I currently don't use helms. Mods for this don't work well.

- I dislike Sten not getting a specialization (he's a warrior so he's valid for this topic)

- Fun play styles for me have been two hander sword and sword/shield.

# Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

=============================================================

- Dual wield is way overpowered. Needs a nerf for warriors (rogues in general should be better at it but playing both, there isn't much difference)

- Two hander weapon style needs a slight boost. It needs more instant attacks (add some extra talents) . A dual wield warrior can take down a whole group before a two hander even kills one monster. Maybe throw in another AOE attack where he spins around and damages all enemies around him several times. Or allow us to impale a monster and then swing the monster around hitting 2-3 additional targets or toss it into the distance hitting another target at range.

- Ranged also needs a boost. Always feels like I can never do enough damage to warrant to focus on this as a play style. So ranged weapons find little use with me. I also think the miss rate can be too high at lower levels. Only thing crossbows are good for are keeping the campfire going all night.

# What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

========================================================

- Favorite specialization is templar and second is champion. lots of utility.

- Least favorite is reaver. Way too much effort for little utility. Reaver specialization makes me think of Revenants which are bad ass monsters when you think about it, but the reaver specialization feels more like being a nug. I suggest overhaul the reaver specialization. Make it similar to Arcane Warrior specialization for mages in that it allows the warrior to use health to cast magic spells from the Entropy school of spells only (they have to spend talent points on the spells of course). I chose Entropy as it has a more dark feel to it (you did desecrate some holy ashes after all). This would make reaver specialization more exciting and worth the effort to get.

# What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

======================================================

- Favorite is weapon and shield talent tree as its well balanced and lots of shield bashing fun!

- Least favorite is ranged. needs some special attacks early on.

======================================================

Overall, warriors are a fun class to play but can use some polish.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

Warrior has always been a nice standby to get you into the game with a low learning curve (and easy survivability), so I tend to like them for that. What I dislike about them is that there are so few talents to activate when compared to mages (spells); even rogues have more interesting talents to use. In other words, warriors are rather...dull in what they can do.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

Nothing that I noticed while playing on Normal.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

Favorites in order from most to least favorite: Beserker, Champion, Templar, Reaver.

The Beserker line has a lot of benefit for the warrior himself, while the Champion would benefit the group. Since I've not taken Templar except for what Alistair has had, I've not focussed much on it but it doesn't appeal to me. Reaver seems to fit a certain type of character that I've yet to develop aside from with Sten/Oghren as a late specialization (which means it doesn't get any talents chosen from it).

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Definitely, the weapon and shield tree is my favorite for the Warrior. Two-handed is too slow (so I let Sten/Oghren remain the only two-handed warriors) and I save dual-wielding for my rogues. It's one of the reasons why the warrior class seems rather dull for me; it only has one really useful tree.

I'll add that I find the Warrior tree itself half great (the top line) and half blah (the bottom line).

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

My favorite thing I liked about the warrior was the tank aspect and archery tree, my least favorite was the 2h warrior felt it was to slow for combat.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

I kind out felt the tank tree was underpowered not enough cc abilities and taunt should be at a lot less of a cool down timer, 2h warriors felt really slow thous being underpowered on the dps department all going into a berserk mode didn't last long enough and had way too long of a cooldown. I really didn't find warriors overpowered at all.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

Favorite warrior specializations were Templer/Champion it reminded me of being a paladin. Least favorite was berserker and reaver didn't really feel there was anything to them expect stats.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Favorite warrior talent tree was shield and archery, just wish the shield tree had a charge move so you could get agro quicker and rush a mob also wish that the shield tree would produce more agro with its talents. My least favorite tree was the 2h because it had too many talents that we worthless and not used fully. Wish for warrior that stamina was generated based off damage received and taken, felt it ran out to fast for warriors so really couldn't do as good of a job as it should have.
All classes should have AOE talents. Warriors going the Shield path do not have AOE talents. I think you should change one of the Shield Bash -> Assault talents to one AOE. An example would be the AOE knockback effect of the Blood Fury.

Too many shield modes.
Statistics with fully researched Weapon and Shield tree:
Shield Wall: +5 armor, +10 Defense, +15 miss def
Shield Defense: +15 Defense, +20 miss def
Shield Cover: +20 miss def

As you can see Shield Wall makes Shield Defense (+Shield Balance) and Shield Cover obsolete. +5 armor is way more powerful than the minor +5 def and +5 miss def of the other 2 talents. Shield Cover is the obvious LOL of this tree.

Basically, talents shouldn't make other talents obsolete. Just make them upgrades of the previous ones.

That's all for now.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

Liked: The possibilities of skill tree and talents (?)

Dislike: I would like to have seen some decapitating with the shield you know? that would have been really badass

I didn't like too much the thing of the sustained abilities, I don't remember the name of one, but was almost useless...

* What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

Like:

-- They do what they do well. Warriors have a nice simple straightforwardness about them.

-- Really like the shield warriors and they way they fight.

-- Good set of talents for the weapons can create some interest tactics.

Dislike:

--As always, grossly underpowered compared to the Mages.

-- Don't feel like you can do any build other than a STR/DEX build, STR/CON true tanks just get torn up.

--Non-shield wielders get eaten alive by the flanking attacks and really have little way to counter it.

--Most of the specializations other than Champion are not that useful.

--Can only be a melee fighter since there aren't enough points to be effective at all as an archer and melee.

--Can't bash locks.

* Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

--Their basic melee attacks are underpowered.

--Two handed in particular just doesn't seem to do enough damage to justify their glacial attack speed.

--Their reliance on sustained powers hurts their ability to do their special attacks.

--They can't replenish stamina. Mages can "reload" and keep throwing their horrible arsenal of spells but warriors run out of juice through any sustained combat/boss monster.

* What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

Champion is the best given the AoE of War Cry and then the stacking bonuses of the other powers.

Templar is very weak and not too useful.

* What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Dual Wield, Shield are the best 2 alojng with the powerful->Death Blow line.

2 handed is bad and the Precise Striking line is weak because at some point you have to suck it up and take Disengage,

I've never played a warrior (I don't find them as tactically interesting as rogues and mages) so this is based on working with Alistair, Sten and Oghren. Mainly I think they need something that would make them more unique, interesting, and versatile to play. You can tank with a high-dex rogue or an Arcane Warrior mage but the converse is never true.

Additional passive abilities might help this class, to reduce the time/costs of using abilities. But really what's missing for me is some special characteristic that makes me want to play a warrior ... or even have one along; now that I understand the game mechanics better (playthrough 3 in progress) I have a warrior in the party only when the game gives me no choice.

In my latest playthrough I've been thinking about how much I wish there were more opportunities to settle things with single combat, which is a natural for warrior-types. Maybe giving them a "throw down gauntlet" ability might make them more interesting. Or module designers could give warriors options to challenge the enemy leader in cut-scene dialogue.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I like that you can let Warriors run and do their thing, or that you can play them with a little more eye towards tactics with their abilities.  I like that they have a fair amount of options for single-enemy control; knockdown, etc.  Also, I like a lot of the graphics and animations.

My least favorite thing about Warriors is their poor aggro control.  This comes from two aspects.  First, they don't do as much damage as Rogues or Mages, so they lose aggro to them very quickly.  Second, their aggro skills are very weak; I often find it better to Force Field my mage or run around with my Rogue to distract enemies.  It defeats the purpose of them being tanks.

Aside from that, I'm also discontent with the number of active skills they get, and the paucity of opportunities to use them once battle has gone on.  There really needs to be some sort of Stamina version of the Lyrium Potion, like there was in DA:J.  I would appreciate the active skills they have more if I could actually make use of them more.

Also, I'd love to see them get more unique skills, compared to the Rogue.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

Nothing overpowered.

The Warrior-only abilities are fairly underpowered, especially aggro control as mentioned.  Their specializations are also fairly weak, especially compared to the Rogue.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

I'd say Champion is my favorite specialization.  Not only do I like the aesthetics of the class, but the skills are fairly useful.

My least favorite would be Reaver and Barbarian.  Neither really feels like it adds anything to class to make it worth while.  They're good concepts, but meh execution.

By that virtue, Templar falls towards the lower end of the middle.  It's a very neat concept, but it's often much faster to have my Rogue or Mage deal with the enemy mages.  Holy Smite did see a fair bit of use as an opening move though, especially with multiple mages.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

I wouldn't say I have a favorite talent tree.  I'd say my least favorite is the Warrior tree, by virtue of it being the weakest.

I like their ability to deal decent damage even while tanking (stuns/knockdowns help keep combat active, too).

I don't like that there's really no customization. You pick your weapon type and max it. And max the basic warrior talents. Then you're done. There's no point in agonizing over talents; you'll get them all.

Similarly, you might only get 5 or 6 active abilities. Combat isn't as interactive as it is with the mage, who has a wide arsenal to choose from at any given moment.

My favorite specialization would probably be the Reaver, because their abilities are so unusual, yet useful

My least favorite would be Berserker, because they get 1 modal ability, 2 buffs to it and one ability of questionable use (Final Blow, though I admit I haven't given it much chance). I crave more interactivity.

My favorite talent tree is probably Dual Wield, for the area effect strikes. Though I like the array of abilities in Two-Handed as well. I haven't given Archery much thought.

The Sword & Board tree needs fleshing out. Like, how many modal abilities that make your shield better do you need? And oh, you only get to use one at a time? Why not just have one, and everything else can improve it (rather than be abilities you'll dump later on?). Or better yet, different attacks?

Honestly, the armor and weapon asthetics are the high point.  Role-wise, I feel that there is no need for a tank in DAO.  So warriors seems to me to be nothing more than armored rogues.  If anything seems to need work, I think Taunt seems weak.  If warriors had a better ability to draw mobs, then their armor and role would seem more important.

[*]What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

I like a little Batman-esque Boom! and Pow! from my warriors, so my favorite is Champion, totally for the AoE knockback.  Holy hell is that fun.  I would like to see some kind of "Inspire Bystander" sort of effect where a Champion might inspire neutral parties to join on the side of the character.  In general:  More knockbacks, including the kind where one or more mobs go flying over the heads of their companions.

I've never used Templar and never expect to do so.  There something about the chain's skills that seem dull to me.  Maybe it is too defensive.  Templar does not inspire me to go through the chain.  The most useful seems to be their dispell ability, which I can get more easily from a mage character.  Holy Smite seem too weak.

[*]What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?
Two handed is great.  Great animations.  It does need more AoE/arc effects though.  Maybe a "Flourish" manuver where you can crank up aggro or distract multiple mobs with a 40 pound ax whipping in all directions.
Sword and board is nice... but not really amazing as tanks don't seem all that useful, so meh on the shield.
Archery and Dual Wielding are good.  Both does what they needs to and have a couple fun abilities.  Pinning shot, scatter shot, and Whirlwind come to mind.  I like most of the abilities there.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I like how balanced the class overall is, it feels right regardless off weapon choice.
what i kind of dislike though is the fact that you can get away with focusing pretty much on 1 stat (str or dex) besides getting the required amount of str/dex for the weapon tree off choice.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

the archer tree really feels off, skill animation takes forever an lack cohesion all togheter, kinda feels like some random skills thrown in wich don't support eachother.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

beserker defently, mainly cause it's usefull in any situation though reaver is on a close 2nd.
champion is my least favorite, it feels like a permanent stamina drain without a real benefit and the aoe knockdown is nice but not a must, as you have mages for CC and it actually works against you if your a DW or 2H warrior.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

my favorite trees are DW and 2H, as they mostly give the warrior vibe, sword and board is fine aswell though it feels like the skills don't really give you the tankish touch.

my least favorite is the archer tree for reasons stated above

Likes:
 • Damage seems solid all-around.
 • Animations look great for both deathblows and talents.
 • Most talents seem effective and useful.
 • Hostility generation sufficient to keep aggro from Mages and Rogues.
Dislikes:
 • Being gear dependent, Warriors suffer early on because enemies refuse to drop the loot they are clearly CARRYING and WEARING.
 • Two-handed swing speed not fast enough. Precise Striking is necessary for accuracy, yet slows things down even further.
 • Not enough AoE for two-handed style.
 • Not enough general Warrior talents. Rogues have a ton of cool stuff.
 • A bonus to damage versus constructs? Who cares? We fight like a dozen of them, max.
 • Threaten and Taunt don't create enough hostility to keep aggro off of other Warriors in massive armor who aren't using Threaten or Taunt.

why, hello, sporkfire. fancy seeing you here. last i heard you were still @ Cryptic Studios
[*]What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I like the various weapon skill trees it can use, because it makes the class more versatile.
I don't like how long it takes for a 2-handed warrior to swing a sword, though. a half-second to a second quicker would be fine and dandy.

[*]Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

Not off the top of my head

[*]What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

I like Champion & berserker. for war cry, berserk, and final blow. templar is alright, too, because of Cleanse area. I don't like reaver because it doesn't allow me to fly or shoot rockets ;)

but srsly i don't like reaver for the same reason i don't like blood mage; some abilities drain health. which can get annoying. but i suppose it's necessary to keep it balanced

[*]What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

i like weapon & shield and 2-handed weapon. Dual wield, while nice, seems redundant, since a rogue can have the same abilities, and it seems like a better fit for a rogue than a warrior, imho.

My first play through was on a warrior on the PS3 version of the game. The warrior's specializations were berserker and champion, but I also had exposure to templar via Alistair.

# What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

On the PS3 they were a fun class to play. The camera view, that some might argue makes the game not as good as the PC version, was perfect for the warrior class.

I felt that the warrior class fit the mold of a hero the most, along with armor and 2-handed weapons it felt that the warrior was epic. I really liked the 2-handed weapon tree. It was full of great abilities such as 2-handed sweep pummel strike, stunning blows and critical strike (for shattering frozen foes).

The archery tree seems like it would only be good with a lot of excess talent points to spend in the event you use a bow to pull enemies.

I really liked the warrior character animations. Although I wished the killing blow animations would trigger more often. I usually miss them due to switching to other characters.

# Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

As mentioned in the following question, there are too many sustained abilities and too many useful active abilities. In the end active abilities feel more useful then sustained abilities. Although two notable exceptions are indomitable and threaten.

# What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

Favourite was Champion (AoE CC from 2 talents)

Most useful was Templar (cleanse area)

Least favourite... was reaver. Although I never used the Reaver specialization, there is one thing that distinguishes it from the other specialization. The other trees offer two triggered abilities, usually 1 action and 1 sustained, with 2 passive abilities (Playing on the PS3 passive abilities were always welcome). Regardless I found that there were many sustained abilities... but the fatigue cost and cost to stamina made using more the one or two sustained abilities. I felt CC abilities were usually more important then having some sustained abilities. In the case of Reaver, the 2 final abilities may not be used.

# What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Favourite: 2-handed. Very epic and fun.

Most useful: 1-handed. Very practical. There is only 1 quick CC. The other two CCs take effect after multiple strikes, which in some cases could be too long.

Least favourite: I felt that if I wanted to play as an archer I would play as a rogue since that talent trees are the same.

Summary:

-Fun to Play

-Useful

-Stamina issues (too many sustained abilities)

-Great Specializations

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?
No way to close the gap! I'd like some ability that gives the warrior a short speed boost so they can close in on those pesky Hurlock Emissaries before they cast chain lightening :P

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?
Nothing really overpowered. They have a good mix of damage and survivability.

Well, let me get specific here:
Champion: Their whole thing revolves sorund rally and war shout. Rally is an incredibly annoying skill to have to mainaintain in conjunction with shield defense/wall/cover and threat. it leaves poor alistair with like 50 points to work with. Change Rally into a buff like Lifeward instead.
Templar: Never use it. Enemy casters have seemingly endless mana pools, so burning thier mana with physical attacks is mostly pointless since one of you will be dead before the mana runs dry on them. Mental fortress is useless sice none of the enemies cast anyhting counterable with lots of mental resistance (sleep, horror, etc). Holy smite is a waste of good stamina. 80 something stamina for a skill that does like 40 damage and might stun something? I'd rather throw a grenade... or 5.
Berserker: For the love of god please make that skill stop turning off after battle or give it a cooldown like rapid fire. also, the damage boost it adds is pretty small. it could do with a boost.
Reaver: Never unlocked it because that crazy andraste zealot pisses me off. and i like the loot the dragon drops /shrug

Archery on a warrior is pointless. You have to be master archer just to do well in heavy armor, and I really really like massive armor, so I still do bad reguardless of how many points I put in archery. No, its much more useful for a rogue, and should be only for rogues. warriors should get some more warrior only skills that do something to boost thier constitution and willpower. make it part of the section with death blow and perfect striking. speaking of perfect striking, the attack speed penalty should be lifted. it took me 5 minutes to kill Loghain because we were both just miss after miss long after the stamina reserves dried up. I had to spam grenades and health poultices like candy on hard mode.

I love the warrior type character in every game but in this one they feel a little weak, I recently started using a mage and found the game is much easier. A couple of dissapointments are that the only class specialization I was interested in was the champion and I would have loved to find more/different armor and weapons then I did. The best talents in my opinion are the weapon and shield category first and third rows. It was very fun to play as a warrior but just a little too hard.

Only glaring flaw of the warriors is the whole stamina issue.Yes its *claimed* to be Working as intended, but the pressence of Lyrium potions and the lack of stamina potions is a HUGE disadvantage.Mages can spam spells like an endless font.Warriors and rogues ...one shot thru the bar and they are done.

But then again I'm sure you guys know all about the negative reaction to that issue.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I'm a big fan of Dungeons & Dragons 4e, and I like how playing a fighter/warrior is more than just auto-attacking. I also like how warriors can't get away with dumping all of their stat gains into one stat, unlike mages who are much more effective if you ignore everything other than Magic.

What I don't like about the warrior is that he has virtually no way to heal himself without using health potions. In D&D 4e, all characters have an ability called Second Wind which is a standard action that allows the character to recover 1/4 of his maximum HP once per encounter. It is vastly inferior to healing magic, but is there in case of emergency, e.g. your cleric is dead.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

Dual-wielding is incredibly powerful when you factor in Grandmaster runes and spells like Flaming Weapon. Because runes and spells do not scale with weapon size or speed, dual-wielding two daggers is very powerful because you get to add the bonus damage more often.

Two-handed fighting is underpowered because of the slow attack speed and the tendency to inflict overkill, basically wasted damage. Also, the slow attack speed means that two-handed weapons benefit much less from runes and spells.

Sword and shield fighting is balanced.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

I don't like any of them, but if I had to choose, it would be the Champion, since it's the closest to my favorite martial class in D&D 4e, the warlord. My first 4e character was a Tactical Warlord/Wizard, by the way.

My least favorite (among four lousy options) is the Templar. His mana burning attack is useless since it doesn't burn enough mana fast enough to matter, and his Cleanse Area power also debuffs the party.

I play with a mod called Combat Tweaks (currently version 2.5) that attempts to rebalance the game. In this mod, Dispel Magic effects only dispel negative magic effects from the party and positive magic effects from the enemy, making them much more useful. Now, Alistair no longer debuffs my Arcane Warrior.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

My favorite talent tree is the one for two-handed fighting. It sucks, but I like two-handed weapons. I don't really have a "least favorite" talent tree since the others are pretty decent.
