I have to agree, two handed weapons swings are way to slow...I have even given my tanks more dex in various runs trying to see if that helps, but they take two long to swing and even with more dex they still miss more often than not. Same goes for berserker shutting off all the time, it takes too long to recharge and too long to activate, half the time Oghren is still activating the talent while the enemies are already beating up on him.

Sword and board I like, but many of the talents are so similar in the descriptions of what they do, I feel like I'm reading a contract to understand how they are different...the animations are great for the attacks, but I feel like I get bash and pommel strike that hit pretty well, then miss with the sword (at lower levels) until the other two recharge. A sweep attack would be nice too...not to mention, why is it that the overwhelm ability still knocks down my warriors when the they have shield wall activated and they are supposed to be immune to direct knock down attacks? Seems to me that if my shield protects me from being knocked down (by an Ogre) that should easily apply to overwhelm (by a bear, dog, wolf, etc) too.

DW I haven't played much yet but just from reading the descriptions and getting my butt kicked by enemies using it, it's seems to be the most powerful and deadly of the three trees.

I typically like Champion and Templar...least favorite is berserker...haven't played reaver...it's not my style.

This is an excellent question.  I'll get right to it, then.

I should probably start by saying that overall I really don't like the Warrior class, at least not as the PC.  They are useful to have in the party, but I find them to be the least interesting class to play to the point that I deleted all my warrior characters and play strictly Rogue or Mage now.

- The only thing I really enjoy about playing a Warrior is the added durability, particularly very early on in the game.  The Warrior tends to be a good deal less fragile than the other two classes at this point.  This is best appreciated on Nightmare difficulty.  What I don't like is that it pales in comparison to a mage in the endgame in terms of sheer power, while lacking the utility of playing a rogue.

-I certainly would not call the Warrior overpowered in any particular area.  They weren't horribly underpowered either, just not particularly interesting.  It was like playing a beefier rogue that couldn't stealth or pick locks.
- Champion and Templar were by far the most useful in my opinion. Rally and War Cry were quite useful and Holy Smite was a nice consolation prize for not having access to Mana Clash :P.  Berserker was okay, but Oghren's performance with it never impressed me enough to give it to any of the other party members, let alone the PC.  Reaver was my least favorite, hands down.  While it seemed very interesting in the description, in practice the special abilities were forgettable and tended not to find their way into tactics slots.  Frightful presence was neat, if not overly useful.

-My personal favorite is the good ol' sword-and-board weapon/shield tree.  I felt it made for the strongest "Tank" Warrior, which is what I feel the warrior does best.  Played properly you can use this Warrior to get the baddest mothers on the field to pay attention to you, and then keep them off their feet with a good combination of shield bash, war cry, etc.  This build is the reason I put up with Alistair throughout most of the game.  Least favorite?  Archer and Two-Weapon pretty much equally.  Not so much because they were ineffective as much as I felt the rogue did both of those roles better.
Hope that was at least a bit useful, I'd be happy to discuss any particular point in further detail if desired.  Thanks for the distraction from the Title Update thread

Kill animations - bashes with shields :D

Best class for tanking

Dislike:

Apart form Champion spec there arent great specializations, templar should have mana clash - as its devastating for mages :) And there should be a talent tree for 1h weapom fighting only

Fav specialization:

Champ ofc, Reaper is good only for 1 skill which is instant heal, berserker is so/so

Least Fav spec:

Templar - see above

Fav talent trees

I suppose fighting with shield, but they are all good :)

Lest Fav trees

* What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?
My favourite class, fun to play. Dislike? Well maybe they are simple. See darkspawn, hack darkspawn. But man, they are good at it!

* Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?
In many games, they are steady performers from the start to the end, same here. I felt Mage was OP all the way, and Rogue started as easy to die and ended up being a deadly assasin capable of killing a lot of strong foes before the others drawed their weapons.

* What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?
Well Champion is a must have with either Templar or Berserker. Reaver got potential, but pretty useless. Maybe a stacking buff from killing blows fits more into their job description?

* What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?
I haven't enjoyed any of my characters so far as my shield specced tank warrior. Archery tree makes little sense with this crosssbow game mechanics. Haven't tryed it, but I'll never will.

Top of the list #1:

Thank you, oh thank you thank you thank you for making a sword and board option that doesn't suck. First game. EVER in the whole wide history of forever that has done that. I don't have to feel like I'm playing gimped to the freaking nines for using a shield.

Two-handers are too slow. All the attacks that involve trading all your stamina for a little extra damage have little if any value. By the time you level up to get them you're fighting opponents that have techniques that require you to maintain counter-effects (indomidable for example) to avoid getting smote. A relatively minor bonus to damage on one hit in return for no special moves for the rest of the fight? Make it 5x your remaining stamina and maybe.

I'll agree that warriors and rogues have too much in common. Trade the double-up on taunt/threaten for something that dramatically increases either stamina total or stamina regeneration, or reduces stamina cost. That would compensate for a warriors lack of lockpick/steal.

[*]What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I like that there are 3 different builds, the DW; 2H and Sword+Shield.

However, I think that the DW build should be different for rogues and warriors, since I feel a little like "been there done that" now when I'm doing a DW warrior, after having a DW rogue.
Maybe some minor changes to both builds.

Also I would love a couple of attack talents that work like the AoE (for example cone of cold) attacks. As it is now, It can sometimes be hard to know who will be affected of some talents that can affect more than one enemy. This would also make it possible to direct a sweeping attack to make it more effective.

[*]Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

no, not really, but I haven't played enough with all 3 builds to say for sure

[*]What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

I like them all, although it would be great with a little difference between rogue DW and warrior DW

[*]What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?
I like all talent trees, though I think the 2H talent tree is the one I find least interesting.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

Warrior is by far my least favorite of the three classes, quite frankly I think I would have preferred this class combined with Rogue.  It's not so much that I dislike any particular thing, it's mostly that I liked other things more.  That said, I usually start most CRPGs as a Warrior because the are also the easiest to use and hence the easiest with which to learn game mechanics.  While less versatile than other classes, I think this is appropriate and I approve of this.

Both a plus and a minus is that Warriors tend to get the best variety of equipment.  The like part is that that gives them more power and more varied looks.  The minus side is that weapons are ridiculously large, helms are mostly ugly (and too often aren't removed in cut scenes), and the armor looks...um...wrong.  I know this is a game and not reality, but why are so many of the heavy/massive armors asymmetric?  How many suits of armors in museums look this way?  And do we really need those huge, encumbering pauldrons that are shaped to guide overhand strikes to the wearers necks?  I know this is fantasy art, but for my money, a little more realism would help the immersion of the game.

I wrote most of all of this post before I read the others, but then I went back and read them all.  I see lot of people asking for more aggro talents or more AoE talents for the Warrior.  IMO, this is already fine the way it is.  These concepts are too far from reality or traditional fantasy, they smack of game mechanics from MMOs and seem totally inappropriate for the role of a Warrior.  For years I did SCA and martial arts, and if you give us more AoE, CC, aggro talents, etc. - then please put them into some sort of magical type specializations for Warriors.  As it is, I never use Taunt or Threaten, and have no problems with the game (playing on Hard or Normal anyway).  I realize these sorts of skills have tactical use, but one of the great things that DA:O has done is make it so you can successfully play with a variety of talent selections.

Actually, despite the fact I think Warrior is the most boring of the three classes, I am quite impressed that BW has done so well at making the Warrior so interesting, without making things feel cheap with talents added merely for "balance."

One other thing I dislike about Warriors is their inability to break open doors or chests, but I use a mod to change that.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

Personally, I like the idea of a 2H Warrior.  But starting out with one can be a bit frustrating for me.  I like to get the kills with my PC, but while the 2H Warrior ends up doing good DPS, I find at the beginning that my companions will often finish off many of my opponents (I do most the work whittling them down, but the faster attacks of the others gets the last little bit of health to kill my opponent).  But really there is nothing that seems particularly underpowered or overpowered to me, though some of the abilities are a lot more useful than others.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

I like Berserker best because of the concept and general usefulness.  But Champion is a very close second.  These two are definitely my favorites.  I like Templar too, but it's kind of a lukewarm sort of like as I dislike the Chantry plus Templars are best against an uncommon type of enemy.  Least favorite for me is Reaver, I dislike it.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Honestly, I like all the talent trees.  Some talents are better than others, but the overall I am impressed with variety and usefulness of the talents.  However, I wish there was a little better balancing.

While I really enjoy the unrealistic DW tree, I believe the 2H should be better for DPS.  If you would speed up 2H a little and maybe add something more for a bonus to damage and armor piercing, that probably would help a lot.
1H+S is very well done as far a making a classic useful and interesting.  But I hate to choose it for my PC because it does far too little damage.  Plus the optimum build would means you do best wielding a dagger instead of a larger 1H weapon.  I don't have any easy way to "fix" this, except for something like combo talents (see below).

Archery is good, but seems out of place in that it's ranged versus the others being melee.  There are some good talents, and they are fairly well balanced.  But as I play Warriors as front line characters, I usually let Rogues handle archery.  One thing that bothers me about them is the talent Scattershot.  Great to use, but oh so nasty when spammed on the party (not to mention it's one of the least realistic talents).  I think at least a slight toning down of this skill would be good.

Not in any particular order, some of my favorite talents are: Momentum, Indomitable, Stunning Blows, Two-Handed Sweep, Shield Bash, Shield Pummel, Overpower, Rapid Shot, and Arrow of Slaying.

The question you didn't ask, but wish you would have, is how to improve the class.  So, what should be improved in the Warrior class?

I already mentioned it before, but it's worth saying again.  Make 2H weapons a little faster and/or do slightly more damage plus better armor piercing.

The Berserker mode automatic turn off and long cool down is annoying since there's usually another group to fight just a room (or a few seconds) away.  So no automatic turn off or a much shorter cool down would make this specialization much more enjoyable.

To actively play a Warrior, stamina is needed.  With sustainables and actives, the stamina drain means long battles become more boring.  The addition for stamina potions to the game would alleviate that.

Rune slots shouldn't just be for melee weapons and 2H weapons should get at least one extra rune slot.  Various resistance runes seem very appropriate for shields - as well as pieces of armor.  Of course runes for bows as well.  This would help equalize things, IMO.

While I know some things make more sense for various origin stories (in particular I am thinking about what's optimum for a Human Noble Warrior), but I would prefer it if we would choose all our own weapon talents and then get starting gear based on our choices.  While eventually we can max out any weapon talent tree, in the beginning I dislike wasting a talent on something I may never use - plus being given weapons I want to replace ASAP because that's not how I want to play my character.

I'd also like another branch in the generic Warrior tree.  In particular I'd like something that included another sustainable similar to Momentum (but less of a bonus and NOT stackable with Momentum).  A tier four passive talent similar to Powerful, and one that stacks with Powerful (and requires around 42 strength).  Then two others and maybe a reconfiguring of the current basic Warrior tree to group things more logically based on the new additions.

If you want to make Warriors more unique, something to think about may be adding of two more sets of weapons for Warriors.  (I recall this sort of thing is some CRPG I used to play, but I can't recall which one as I write this.)  If you combined this with giving the Warrior a slightly accelerated number of talents, then it would become more viable for the Warrior to go into multiple trees and make for more interesting combinations of talents.

Right now, arrows are really best used as vendor trash.  They do little extra damage, they're too expensive to be worth buying, they run out too soon, etc.  Perhaps you could take a page from DA:J and instead of us getting a limited number of magic arrows, give us a magic arrow/quiver.  You'd have to balance this with making them more rare to find and more costly to buy, but right now all I ever do with arrows and bolts is sell them.  It just seems sad to me that the best use for magical ammunition is to sell it for the cash.

For those who want Warriors to be more special, perhaps you can code some talent combos similar to the spell combos.  Like if you follow up a Sunder Arms with a Sunder Armor it has a possible stun effect as well.

While not generic topics for Warriors, I think the NPCs, especially Sten and maybe Dog as well, could use some improving.  First off, the game's auto leveling scheme is pretty bad.  I see talents selected without high enough attributes, too many attribute points into less essential stats, etc.  I use a mod to fix these, but I really think this is something that should be fixed and patched by BW.  But Sten really gets the short end as not only does he miss a the first specialization, he also is missing four attribute points (I assume for lack of an origin).  This really, really should be fixed by BW.  Dog has a problem in getting too many talent points at high level (unless on the 360 where some people also get the basic Warrior tree on Dog).  Dog is great, but either another line of talents or something that stops him from getting too many points would be great.

Likes / Dislikes :

2h speed is definitely a little too slow.  I rarely take Sten or Oghren with me because by the time they swing, things are already dead (playing on nightmare : Alistair / Wynne / Zevran / myself (rogue)).  It'd be nice to see the speed increased slightly.

1h / Shield seems pretty basic and straightforward. To me, the talents all seem a little too simliar.  It'd be nice to see a little more variety in the tree.

DW seems to be able to do it all : tank / DPS / OT.  I'm not saying nerf it, not at all (nerfs are bad) but there does seem to be a disparity between DW / 2h specs - and I compare the two because they are the two DPS specs.

To me, the warrior is a very 'set-it and forget-it' class, especially 1h / shield build.  I usually set Alistair's tactics up and let him do his thing with little to no micromanagement from me.  It's both good and bad.  Easy for someone to pick up and play, but also a little boring.

Overpowered / Underpowered :

Constitution seems to be a wasted stat.  On my first playthrough I put points into const for all my warriors.  On my second, I loaded up on str / dex.  The str / dex seemed to be the better way to go.  No one ever got hit so their low const never mattered.  (Again, playing through on nightmare.)

Favorite / Least Favorite Specs :

Templar / Champion is my favorite, no question.  I love holy smite and can't get enough of it.  I really like the concept of the Templar tree and thought it was implemented very well.

Bezerker / Reaver isn't my cup of tea.  To be fair I can't critique either very well because I have limited experience with the specs.  Zerker just sems to have rather limited talents in the tree.

Favorite / Least Favorite Talent Trees :

1h / Shield is probably my favorite.  If I'm going to DW, then I'll play a rogue.  2h is almost painful for me to play.

As I said, I like the Templar concept and I have alot of fun with it.

I've never played an archery warrior.

I feel as if the all the 2h abilitys use wayy too much stamina... even without using some ability with a stamina debuff for each swing.. ( I`m forgetting all their names.. ) I always find myself without stamina and not ever able to use any of my skills.. I use pots all the time but it just keeps disappearing again... But I still <3 the warrior class aside from mage.

I like the warrior class but there are a few things that could use a brush up. As many have already commented on the 2H speed could be increased. My DPS 2 handed warrior is dishing out more damage per hit than zevran but not even close to damage per second.

Also, if I intend to taunt a mob heading for my healer/mage I'm rarely able to beacuse of the need to stop for such a long time whilst taunting. I think the taunt should be more instant (shorter animation, faster shockwave) and perhaps not require stopping.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?
Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?
What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?
What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

1) I like pretty much everything except archery and the fact that there isn't any ranged spec for warriors. Templar, Berserker, Champion and Reaver specs are all focused on melee. If i could choose, i would remove the Champion spec and add some Siege Archer spec or something like this, empowering ranged/melee attack/damage, and with some other ranged focused attacks.

2) Being an old player of RPGs, i find pretty much everything a little bit too overpowered, or .. maybe, most likely, encounters are too easy (even at hard/nightmare), with the only real challenge in the game is trying to solo it at nightmare difficulty. Also, while a 2H warrior or a DW warrior can solo (ie: when your entire party is wiped and you're the only survivor) pretty much everything, a Sword and Shield warrior can't because of low damage output. But i think it's the way it should work.

3) My favorite is the dual wield warrior, the least favourite is the two handed warrior. But i only actively played a dual wield warrior, my experience on sword and shield and 2H weapons is relative to Alistair/Secret companion and Sten/Oghren. Archery warriors... i wonder if someone ever made one :)

4) Favourite talents again are the dual wielding ones, with sword and shield close second (great control). 2H is good at high levels... the real pain is archery talent tree (for warriors, for rogues it's ok). Mostly because all spec talents for warriors are designed for melee weapons or for close combat, rather than ranged combat. And magical crossbows selection is really narrower than longbows.
To me archery talents for warriors should be different than archery talents for rogues. Rogues should be focused on more utility and warriors on damage.

I love my 2 handed berserker/templer. My guy was a beast.

   * What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I like swinging 2 handed weapons, though there are really slow.

    * Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

Not really thought it was pretty balanced

    * What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

I like damage output of Beserkers, and the buffs of champion. Templers could be given a bit more of an edge against mages, but i found holy smite to be really useful. Reaver just sucks.

    * What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

I found indomitable, mighty blow, and two handed swings very useful. Critical strike is good, but it seems a bit broke. I was drove off a bit by sword and shield because it seem to all about the shield and not really about the sword. I mean there were no real damaging sword attacks beside the regular attack.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I dislike the fact that you miss out on some of the content, which can only be accessed as a rogue, while there is no corresponding 'warrior-only' content. What do I like... huh, guess there was a reason I never finished those play-throughts. There are so many warrior playable NPCs that there's pretty much no point making your own.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior? Sword-and-board is tanking and thus not very high on DPS, but it DOES make for a very good tank. I have never given a warrior the dual-weapon skills. As for the One-Handed skills, while they hit really hard, they are slow enough that it's only really noticable on boss fights - it's nearly useless on trash.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

Favorite would be Templar, because it's effective defence against spellcasters. I guess 'least favorite' would have to go to Berserker and Reaver as I have never used either (never even unlocked Reaver).

Thanks for the great response to our last question about the tactics system. We're continuing to look to the community to make the Dragon Age franchise the very best that it can be. This week, we are interested in learning about the different classes in Dragon Age: Origins in threads dedicated to each.

In this thread, we'd like to ask your opinions of the Warrior class. Upcoming threads next week will cover the Rogue and the Mage.

 • What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

 • Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

 • What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

 • What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Be sure to answer the poll on Warrior specializations as well!

[*]What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?  I like the customization options you have with the warrior.  For example, right now I have a dwarven warrior that can act like a pseudo ranger that uses bombs.  The sub-classes are good as well that compliment the classes' skills.  The issue I see is the warrior class is pretty dull in it's abilities.  The rogue and mage have something unique to define them that no other class can access Iike improved tools or feign death.  These are unique to rogues only and mages have their spells.  The warrior class has weapon specific moves but they are so dull.  I mean, how about add a speed bonus to wearing heavy armor or or a combo mechanic  that would really define that class.
A warrior is about strength, strategy, with combat prowess.  It seems the rogue got more of everything than the warrior.  The only thing separating warriors from everyone else is their ability to become sitting ducks while the other classes pick away the bad people.

[*]Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?  Because the class has no defining talent they are somewhat underpowered.  One thing that really defines them is their health.  Other than that, they lack a definitive talent.

[*]What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?  My favorite specialization is the reaver.  It's like a Necromancer but in a melee form.  I don't have a least favorite except.  Like someone suggested, Warriors do not have any ranged specific specialization.  Is it possible to add a hand-to-hand warrior type monk specialization?  That would be awsome.

[*]What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?  Firstly, I wish there was a 1 handed weapon talent tree.  My favorite so far is the sword and shield.  I like that the best because it's really unique and really defines my character.  I mean, there are a lot of cool animations and moves that come with that tree.  The 2 handed sword should really have some power behind those moves.  I mean, If I'm pounding someone, with a 2 handed weapon there should be some knock back.

Devour, on a Reaver, is pointless, IMO, because the times you'd really want it, against a boss, there are often no other corpses around to devour.  Aura of Pain doesn't really do any noteworthy damage, so the only useful thing about Reaver is Frightening Appearance, if you've got a tank who's sustaining Threaten.

Berserker would be better if we could sustain it, but since it turns itself off all the time, I only give it to other party members and only have them turn it on when the enemy is elite or higher.  Final Blow is pointless IMO, especially if using a 2H weapon, because if you are fighting a group of enemies, using all your Stam to kill one target leaves you swinging painfully slowly with no special attacks for the remainder of the fight, and if you save it for later in the fight, your Stam is often so low from having used other special attacks that Final Blow does almost no extra damage, but instead just drains all your Stam.

Templar would be better if the AI Tactics worked correctly, as far as 'target using magic attack' or 'nearest visible mage'...  What I mean is, I've set Alistair's AI to 'Target using magic attack' or 'Nearest visible mage' and have seen him waste Holy Smite on something as pointless as a 'white' skeleton archer, or less, even when there's a mage around...

Champion is the only one I can say I tend to choose almost all the time for other party members, and even for my own characters.  War cry w/Superiority is awesome, and Rally stacks, meaning I want to have two or three Champions in my party at the same time.  Would be nice if the Rally bug was fixed though (not sure if this is known, or being worked on, but if you have Rally sustained and zone to another area, the bonuses go up another 10 points, and keep going up  - so you either have to turn it off before leaving an area and re-activate it when you get to the next area, for realism and fairness' sake, or leave it on all the time and end up with ridiculously high levels of defense (and attack?) which would mean that nothing could touch you - which means you might as well play on Casual, and/or create your own DLC to give yourself 10,000 Sovereigns and top notch armor at level 1...

Don't get me started on the totally pointless Ranger skills (who's idea was it to have the summoned creature disappear when you leave an area, AND have a inordinately long cooldown timers on them!?)  Talk about completely useless and pointless skills...

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?
The warrior, when played correctly is fairly well balanced and straight forward, which is nice, however the inability to regain stamina (barring a few items) gets rather annoying sometimes.  I'd like to see more options for stamina regeneration boosts on weapons or armor.

I do like not having stamina potions though, when will a warrior have time to swig a redbull while fighting off darkspawn?

There are more than enough warrior party NPCs in the game, I would prefer to see anything else BUT a warrior if any future companions are added.

I'd also like to see more generic warrior talents, the rogue gets 16 "rogue talents" in addition to weapons specializations, the warrior only gets 8?

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?
The two handed weapons are very aggrivating to play with, I'm constantly skipping playing with Sten or Oghren on the tougher battles because they simply don't have enough damage output in contrast to the agro they draw from wearing heavier armor.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?
I love the Champion specialization, and the Templar one is decent, however I am pretty ambivilant about Reaver and Berserker.

For the most part I just take Champion and spend my skill points elsewhere rather than on a second specialization though.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?
I tend to choose dual weapons for my warriors, although I also like sword and shield on playthroughs when I don't want to take Alistair in my party.  I despise the two handed weapon, for reasons listed above, and warriors have no place standing back and firing arrows on a regular basis imho, so there is no need for me to have them specialize in archery.

I look forward to the next round!

Just a quick note on the rogue vs. warrior similarities that people have been mentioning. It seems strange to me that the rogue gets one of the more powerful talent trees, DW, completely intact. Since rogues are less about combat and more about being stealthy & subtle, it would make more sense if their weapon combat trees only had 2 lines rather than three. For example, dual wielding would lose punisher, dual striking, whirlwind and the Mastery ability to use an offhand main weapon. I think an alternate, unique 2-tier talent for rogues, single bladed, would also be a good replacement for the rogue's entire DW tree. Similarly, archery might lose some of its more formidable abilities, like shattering shot, AoS and Critical shot. This would also free up some talent points for more rogue abilities.

The backstab, lethality and combat stealth abilities more than make up for the loss of those weapon talents, IMO, and further separate the warrior from the rogue.

It would be nice to see a single blade tree, but I disagree on removing the bottom ones...., and how could you want to remove a line of achery for rogues.... thatruins the point of being a ranger no? having less then a warrior, the way I see it, warrior can choose from 4 styles, while rogues can only have 2

# What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I like that they make great tanks. I dislike that its hard to do anything else with them really. It would be nice if they could control the flow of battle better than they do. As it is Mages overshadow warriors for just about everything they could possibly be used for other than tanking.

# Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

Two handed weapons definately feel underpowered. There are a bunch of great activated abilities for them, but none of them have the utility of Mage spells. And due to the fact that the game largely favors high attack speed with static bonuses their damage output doesn't come close to what you can do with dual-wielding.

# What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

Champion is my favorite. However, I'm really not sure what to say about the others. I do have one comment about Templar though. It seems sort of bogus that they are supposed to be mage-hunters, but when it comes to fighting mages in DAO my weapon of choice is invariably Mana Clash. Holy Smite needs a buff, and Mana Clash needs a nerf.

# What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Sword and Shield is my favorite. Mainly because Tanking is the main thing you can do with a warrior that no-one else can. Rogues make better use of DW, and Two-handed weapons seem underwhelming in general. You can do cool things with it, but in the end those cool things don't really seem to do much for you given what a mage can do.

I am ok with the warrior class... but personally i think there could be more improvement but i can't think on one right now...

I think the warrior is balanced but it really depends on the attributes being allocated...

My favorite specializations is the templar... but I wish to see more specializations...

I like the 2-handed weapon but I disagree with what most people say about it being too slow... it is fine as if this characters were real, depending on the strength of the person or the weight of the weapon... The character is able to s

sorry not finish...

the character would be able to swing it faster but if they carried something like a mace... it is understandable that it would be slower... so great swords should be alittle faster compare to swinging gaint maces... I also wish to see more weapon usage... sure as polearms etc...

I only used 2 hander on my first play then gave up on the game and started a new play.

What can I say about it? Boring, boring and more boring.

I use warriors now as dw warriors and they do a very good job, the problem is all the wasted talents, we need to be able to setup each new party member the way we like so please make this happen in the next patch.

[*]What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?
The sword and shield tree feels very limited, most of the rest of my thoughts are covered throughout the rest of my responses.
[*]Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?
I think warriors are underpowered because every rpg party slot is performed better by another char.  AW mages out tank, dw rogues outdamage melee, mages and archer rogues are better ranged characters.
[*]What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?
I use champion all the time, but having entire devoted to
a single enemy feels weird to me, so templar isn't that great, and
berserker/revear both force you to risk yourself (not a good thing).
So I feel like the non-champion are less useful[*]What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?DW and Archery are unequivacolly done better by rogues, and arcane warriors sword&shield tank better... so most of the trees have very little utility, and while I'm not a huge fan of two-handers, I like some of the passive skills, I feel they truly change things up

To be honest, I don't really use warriors that much, a better party just always seems to form when I ditch them.  I will use them as tanks occasionally, but that is only if/when wynne and morrigan aren't being built as AWs and when my main char is a rogue, but even then, ranger pets lessen the utitlity of a warrior

i like the warrior class. i really like how dual wielding was handled. two handed weapon leaves a lot to be desired. one thing i'd like to see is higher level warriors less likely to be knocked down by weaker creatures. i find it strange to see my warrior put to the floor by e genlock i can hack to pieces in a handful of hits while he can barely damage me. maybe after a certain level knockdown should be harder. i see many enemies tend to be harder to knock down, but my warrior still does. in my current mage playthrough, i just saw alistair get floored by some dumpy darkspawn he chopped to bits in 3 hits. he's level 14. seems by then a knockdown should be a lot less likely.

I've only got one near-complete playthrough on mage (waiting for RtO before finishing) and just started with Warrior, so I haven't fully gone into depth with the Warrior yet - although there have been times in low-threat encounters where I had Alistair go in while Leliana and my mages just supported via staff and some basic use of tactics (no long-cooldown spells or talents). Assault is...quite satisfying with a top-tier runed-up weapon. Expect me to have a few more opinions when the Mage comes around.

Like: Offensive shield use. Both the effects and the animations of this line are quite satisfying. Unlike some, I don't think this line really needs AoE options - the focus of that weapon combination seems to be focussed on bringing down one opponent before turning on the next, and if a sword-and-boarder wants to affect an area, that seems to me to be what the specialisations are for. An activated talent to shield bash multiple targets in one swing, or to swing with the sword at one target while shield bashing another, may be worth considering, however.

Dislike: Too easy to break aggro. Several times I've had a boss fight break down into having the boss chase around (one of) my mage(s), who's basically forced to just keep running around in circles while other ranged characters whittle away at boss's health (and the Warrior does almost nothing). With enough room to maneouvre, this can actually turn out to be an easier fight to win than if the boss is beating on the tank (since if you don't mess things up you're basically taking no damage yourself) but it doesn't feel as fun, heroic, or even particularly sensible from the enemy's viewpoint when this happens. This is exacerbated as, as Spell Singer says, it's difficult if not impossible to set up a shield wall - even having 2-3 warriors in a chokepoint such as a door will often lead to the enemy pushing between them and making a beeline for your ranged support. While, considering my "door procedure" typically involves throwing multiple big AOEs like Inferno into a room, I don't blame them for wanting to kill the mages if they make it to the door, its frustrating to see them simply dodge past the doorguards all the time. (Like Pocketgb, I'd rather see warriors actually having genuine means to keep the enemy occupied rather than simply having "artificial threat", but I can see that it has its uses as an abstraction - and it's less glaring a problem in a game where you control a team like DA than a game where each player controls a single character like WoW - it is at least theoretically possible that something similar can be used against the player if the player doesn't watch for it, while in WoW artificial threat is a construct that can never be used against the player.)

Lack of a "2H-friendly" origin option - all origins start with a W&S, archery, or DW talent, meaning that a 2H weapon wielder is essentially one talent point down on a warrior of a different weapon type with a matching origin. Possibly one of the dwarves could be given Powerful instead? Also, as has already been stated a few times, the "extra damage versus constructs" ability seems a little lacklustre given how few such enemies are encountered - this functionality seems as if it might have been better used as a rune.

Haven't really tried the specialisations enough yet to really make any informed comments about them, except to reinforce the binary performance of antispellcaster effects in general - Mana Clash is just godly, but I've rarely seen evidence of spellcasters being significantly hindered by mana denial effects (in fact, even victims of a Mana Clash tend to be casting big spells soon enough afterwards if they survived). While this affects Templars, however, it's probably a subject better saved for the Mage thread.
