It seems to me that it often becomes a question between tanking and mediocre dps (when compared to a rogue) for the warrior.
A few questions come to mind what is the goal of the warrior? Tanking? DpS? Both?
It often seems like if I have a choice between 2 mages a rogue and a warrior or 2 rogues a mage and a warrior or 2 warriors a rogue and a mage i'll never go with the third option. While all 3 options have their perks, the primary perk of 2 warriors seem to be an additional person to absorb damage. But at the same time, unless that warrior has a shield out, he has no damage reduction talents and is relying only on his armor for protection.
It seems to me that the goal of a warrior in any scenario is to take damage. A rogue primarily differs from a warrior for example in that it should be behind the target avoiding damage. In this way, my primary complaint about the warrior is this:
 • Damage style needs to fall in line more with the front line nature of the warrior, although each one shouldn't be a walking tank, this should be reserved for the shield class, I should have no worry about bouncing enemies between warriors instead of JUST my tank (would make disengage a much more viable talent as well).
 • Make the threat levels between heavy armor and massive armor more dramatic.   I should be able to have threaten up on all warriors in the field, and yet still have a way to cause the majority of enemies to congregate in front of my tank while still having 25-40% going towards my dps warriors.   Not only does this improve warrior dps through talents, but also makes them a more viable 4th member option.
 • If tanking abilities are not to be found in 2 of the 3 trees, damage output of those 2 trees need to be comparable in either utility or dps to bows or dw rogues (ie either a cc tree or a dps tree)

# Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

overpowered : dual striking, momentum

underpowered :
bows/crossbows, templar spec
The fact that until you have Death Blow there's no way to have stamina back.
Normal massive armors not really worth it for me as they had a lot to fatigue (powerful only give a -10, should be % based) and armor rating is less useful than defense

constitution : armor should really need const and not str

# What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

favorite : Champion, least favorite : templar

# What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

favorite : dual weapon, least : archery

2h: nicer animations and bether speed would be nice. and wouldent mind a bit more dif efects from abilitys seems most do same thing.

Archer tree is alright but weapons/runes needs some work.

dualweild tree probly best together whit shield tree.

only problem i dont like. is the layers of sustained abilitys specialy when some of them dosent do mutch or worth more then the other but u hafto pick it to get to other stuff in the tree that u want.

rapid fire-supresing fire i never use. powerfull swings dosent give enuff so never use it. dual striking never use and 3dif shield sustained abillitys whit the threaten/perfect striking bloodthirst berzerk its just to many sustained abillitys that takes all the stamina if u wana use em all.

25%passive 60%active 15%sustained abillitys but thats just me =)

specialtions are good exept the reaver spec havent found mutch use for it exept specific fights whit alot of creeps where i used heal and fear. berzerker bit to long cooler and not mutch use for final blow. ahh yes and the rally aura work.

otherwise if u could suce gear before every fight, warrior is defently the strongets char.

favourit spec dw-templar-berzerker or 2h-templar-berzerker.

First of all, I need to say that I instantly decided to play a sword'n'board warrior after seeing the trailers (Sacred Ashes, in particular). To me, the warden in the trailers was The Warden.

And so far, I must say that I don't feel disappointed at all - to the contrary, to me, my warrior feels spot on. Sure, I don't deal huge damage, but I stand in the frontline, I draw fire to me, I get to smash enemies' faces in with my shield. I love it.
I don't think balance plays quite as big a role in a single-player game as it does in a MMOG (especially one that contains PvP), so I don't think "underpowered" or "overpowered" are good metrics. "Fun" or "no fun" and "does the job he's supposed to do" or "doesn't" seem better suited.

And that being said, my warrior is fun and he does his job (keeping the big bad enemies away from my the fragile mages and archers in my group) very well. The only thing I'd really consider putting under the "wish" column is something that was already mentioned earlier in this thread: A way to break out of crowd control abilities, even if it's on a long cooldown.

My favourite spec is Champion (simply because it's most similar to what I envision my warrior should be).

I can't comment on how a warrior performs as DPS or how fun that way of playing a warrior would be. As a tank, again, I love the class.

Just a quick note on the rogue vs. warrior similarities that people have been mentioning. It seems strange to me that the rogue gets one of the more powerful talent trees, DW, completely intact. Since rogues are less about combat and more about being stealthy & subtle, it would make more sense if their weapon combat trees only had 2 lines rather than three. For example, dual wielding would lose punisher, dual striking, whirlwind and the Mastery ability to use an offhand main weapon. I think an alternate, unique 2-tier talent for rogues, single bladed, would also be a good replacement for the rogue's entire DW tree. Similarly, archery might lose some of its more formidable abilities, like shattering shot, AoS and Critical shot. This would also free up some talent points for more rogue abilities.

The backstab, lethality and combat stealth abilities more than make up for the loss of those weapon talents, IMO, and further separate the warrior from the rogue.

It would be nice to see a single blade tree, but I disagree on removing the bottom ones...., and how could you want to remove a line of achery for rogues.... thatruins the point of being a ranger no? having less then a warrior, the way I see it, warrior can choose from 4 styles, while rogues can only have 2

Well, I simply think that consolidating some of the more useful talents in Archery and making it a 2 tier tree would make it more interesting. As it stands, it's rather bland, and AoS seems like it was thrown in to make up for that fact (I dislike AoS's incredible ranged damage). Warriors would probably benefit from a trimmed down archery tree, perhaps with different talents selected from the ones currently there. I agree it's a controversial view, I'm not even 100% behind it :)

#1 When a shield is equipped I want to see more blocking and parry animations rather than dodge or miss. This will look way cooler and make me feel like I am holding back the onslaught.

#2 The different defensive modes need to be more clear and give feedback so that you feel you are making a difference in that mode. It seems so minimal now that it's not all that dramatic to get into any defensive mode. Maybe a simple sound that goes off when your hit and shield wall blocks damage, or when your +Def saves you from taking damage.

#3 The Templar mana drain gives no indication how much you are hurting them. When they are still casting after several hits I start to wonder if it did anything. Seems very weak.

I like the templar abilities but most of the time when I fight to a yellow or red enemy, they resist all. That's frustrating.

Best thing is to fight through enemies with 2 swords and make a hurricane(cyclone?). It's really fun to see.
I never played a warrior before, I don't like playing tanks but the DW is fun, really

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

I really like Warriors because I can just wade in and start swinging, rather than worry about positioning for a backstab or managing spells (even though that's also fun if I'm in the mood).

I dislike the fact that Warriors don't seem to get rune bonuses on activated attacks (although I can understand why the shield attacks don't get bonuses).

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

I think the Dual Wielding tree is a little overpowered (maybe momentum and haste should not stack?)
And I think the Two Handed warrior should have a slight increase to attack speed (sometimes the target I'm attacking will be dead even before my first blow hits)

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

My favorite specialization is the Champion (except for losing Rally constantly when entering new areas).
Reaver is my least favorite (I don't care for self-damaging abilities).
Berserker is also a good one although I would like it better if Berserk had a much shorter cooldown time. Also I don't care for Final Blow, just doesn't seem to do enough damage for the stamina lost.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

My favorite tree is the 2 Handed Tree. I really like most of the Passive and Sustainable talents and the activated abilities are also pretty good.

I don't like the Archery talent for Warriors, but I really like it for Rogues (almost all of my rogues are archers).

[*]What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?
 • I like the finishing moves a lot.
 • Rune system is great (since you can get the rune back you don't have to wait to put the perfect one in)
 • Not enough variety in the shields
 • On my current playthroughs,  I've never tried the Champion and Reaper yet,  I guess i'll find them later on
[*]Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?
 • the Shield tree (especially attacks) "feel" overly  weak compared to two handed and dual
 • Bow tree is just so-so
[*]What are your favorite Warrior specializations? Like I said did not have chance to try them all, but I like berserker
[*] What are your least favorite? My guess is Reaper
[*]What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? the one that starts with mighty blow
[*]What are your least favorite? the one with sunder armor and stuff for the 2handed (middle one)
warriors are a lot of fun to play, I think they get the best loot too.

I don't know if it's overpowered, but the scattershot archer ability is quite annoying. Not on the PC, where it's at best a moderate ability (one use per fight generally, with low damage and an extremely short stun effect). It's really aggravating when a group of AI archers hit you with this effect, one after another. I really feel that this ability should have been designed with a miss chance and the ability to be blocked by obstacle, like, well, every other warrior ability.

In general, I feel like the aim times on all of the archer abilities are too long. Melee fighters can fire off their abiltiies pretty much instantaniously, but the archer has to stand their aiming for a small eternity to use their ability. For the lethal shot ability, sure, the aim time is appropriate, but for most everything else I usually find that my archer is better off just whittling away at enemies with rapid shot rather than trying anything clever. This isn't really a balance issue, but it does make the character a little less interesting to play.

I find the great weapon talent tree to be the most enjoyable. Not really sure why, but the combination of abilities feels "right". Two weapons are also fun. I find sword and shield to be rather dull, but that's probably just personal preference. I know others who love that play style. I do like the sword and shield animitions.

Champion is the only specialization for any class I've bother to take all the way to level 4. It gives the character a rather nice support role, and the level 4 war cry is quite fun (level 4 abilties should have a big effect). Templar abilities are handy for dealing with mages. I've never tried bezerker, and never particularly liked the abilities on Oghren. I just unlocked reaver a couple days back, and haven't tried it. From reading about the abilties online, I doubt I will. Personally, I don't find any of the specializations I've tried in Dragon Age to be all that exciting. They add a couple of extra abilities, but don't really change the playstyle of the class much (could you even tell the difference between a bezerker and a regular figher if you didn't see him trigger the ability?). They're not even a mark of accomplishment, as most of them are unlocked rather easily, and once unlocked any character can just use them.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

Durable! When I'm playing I like to stick to my MC and let the AI and the orders I gave them do their thing. It's really frusterating when the MC dies.

What do I dislike? Too many warriors on the dancefloor. It's hardly worth it for he MC to be one while you can easily pad the rest of your party with warriors. Even Dog and Shale are basically warriors. In comparison, having the MC be a mage is like easy mode(with friendly fire off). Not that I would change that.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

Hmmm. Should be able to keep aggro better. You would figure they'd attack the warrior with an axe on fire and a blade in flames before the half naked witch. Damage felt gimpy until I got to use two full size weapons in each hand.

I kinda wish there was an "O Heck NO!" moment other than the beginning with the toll bandits. Because, seriously, when there's warriors going towards you with rediculous flaming and electrified weapons and some sort of insane aura, who wouldn't run? (Other than darkspawn, undead, and people backed up by mages.)

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

Reaver. Thank goodness for an ability that allows for healing while the mage is recharging.

Didn't get much use out of Beserker. The 'you beserk better' skills were nice, but not as interesting or versitile in combat.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Once you can have two large weapons, dual wielding is pretty Boss. Shield is nice for aggro and can stun some people. Two handed weapon's redeming feature is the large amount of stunning abilities. Dual wielding definitly looks and feels the coolest though.

Like:

The animations!

Sten just spun around, turning his back on his enemy, thrust his sword in a backward move right through his enemy. Very nicely animated that :)

The shield bash animations: awesome

I like the Shield skill tree. It feels right, looks right and has a theme to it that works and comes across right.

Dislike:

The lack of more generic warrior stuff:

Single handed weapon attacks to be useable with both shield and dual-wield trees.

(for example a couple of lunges with the main hand followed by a spinning attack with the off-hand - with the secondary effect of the last attack depending on wether a shield or weapon is wielded in it: stun or crit. Or a grab with the main hand followed by two automatic hits with whatever the offhand has equipped)

To be honest I would not hav minded archery beeing taken out of the warrior class alltogether and some single hand and brawling skills added. And maybe a charge or leap skill to be able to closs]e the distance a bit easier.

As others have already mentioned: Templars could be a bit more useful against mages.

That seems like an odd question.  That something is perceived as underpowered or overpowered is irrelevant to whether it is underpowered or overpowered, and you guys whold know that better than we do.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

Similarly, if the vast majority of people prefer specialisation A to specialisation B, what would you do with that information?  Does that mean the people who strongly prefer B to A (in opposition to the majority) aren't going to be served by future developments?

Make a good balanced game so we'll all find parts in it we'll like.  If you cater to the majority's preference then those people at the fringes of your audience will be pushed aside.

Of course, there's the possibility that this seeking of input is just PR.  Perhaps the goal here is to convince us (as a group, which is impossible because we don't exist as a group) that we're being listened to and our input is important, so then we'll more readily accept whatever it is you do next.  Ralph Klein used to do this all the time (and he did it very well).  If you first ask people what they think, they're then more willing to accept your decision on that issue regadless of what your decision (because they feel like they had their say, even if you never had any intention of listening to them).

I'm hoping that you're not going to make any big decisions based on the responses to these threads.  Small decisions, sure, but don't discard features just because they're not widely liked.  They might be important to some people's gameplay, or maybe even the majority's gameplay in ways they don't realise.

The general public is lousy at assessing their own preferences.

1) I like Warriors effectiveness at tanking. I dislike having to wait for targets to stop moving so I can actually engage them. Moving and attacking is a must.

2) 2H swings too slow and all attack animations are too wonky and dull.

3) Champion is by far the favorite as it provides the most benefit buff-wise as well as a handy knockdown. Reaver is probably the most useless. I believe the poll is an accurate indication.

4) Favorite warrior talents: Sword & board and DW. Refer to #2 for least favorite.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?
Very fun hybrid of tank and dps. Needed unique talent trees instead of stealing two of rogue's. Probably one of the more difficult classes to play to its full potential. Really only two talent trees are worthwhile in comparison to using another class for archery/dw.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?
Shield spec could use an aoe skill, or a different attack based on the 1h wep. Shield defense vs Shield Wall needs to be changed. Weakest part of the shield spec is that if other chr's are CC capable the tank is not very useful in comparison to another dps or support chr (mage). Only exception is probably some of the bigger bosses that are easier to fight if they're directly tanked.

2H could use some small tweaks (like making sunder arms/armor different attacks). Critical Strike is completely weak in comparison to mighty blow. Rest of 2h skills are very good flesh out the role of a frontline melee. 2H sweep and indomitable are amazing.

Disengage/Perfect striking I've never ever used. Precise I always use, and taunt only on tanks.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?
Reaver, Champ, Temp, Zerker - in that order.

Champ is probably the most well rounded. Reaver has two of the best abilities by far for harder difficulties (devour/fear). Temp has cleanse area and mental fort which are damn nice in Nightmare. Zerker just felt underpowered for how much the abilities cost to use.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

2h hands down. With good gear and spec'd into reaver/temp it's a beast. Lots of synergy with any other class. Shield is decent but it's mostly only good against bosses. DW/Archery I've never played with because I don't see why I'd use those over a bard/* rogue who can bring Song of Courage to the party on top of their personal dps.

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

Talents spaced to far out over levels. Champion vs Bezerker for example.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

2- Handed, as noted mant times now, is to slow. Perhaps Constitution could be used a "speed" modifier

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

Champion. Seems to fit the Sword & Board theme though by the end Talent the game nears conclusion and the best talents are all but a second thought.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees?

Weapon and Shield + Archery ( please add a Tool Tip that states that purchased Arrows are Special and an Archer does NOT need Arrows loaded in the Quiver Slott to fire basic Arrows.
Sadly, It took me 8 Levels to figure that out FCOL. Teh bought ones are outrageously priced as well.
I will check the manual about that just in case I should have RYFM'd :)

What are your least favorite?

No real dislikes other than Pommel Strike would be so SWEET! in the S&S talent pool as well. ;)

I like warriors, it's great just running in head first and taking a ton of hits and just walking on and the armour/weapons look badass. But my problem is I always feel more active using a mage or rogue constantly casting spells or moving to backstab and so going back to warrior feels a bit slow and uninvolved.

My favourite spec. is beserker, but the cooldown on the main sustainable is annoying.

My least favourite spec. is reaver, I like the idea but I just didn't find it very useful.

Favourite tree is 2handed because its awesome!

Least favoutie is sword/shield since I get bored of the slow combat quickly, but hey thats why I love rogue!

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?
I like warriors because they're the meatwall that stands between enemies and mages ;-) seriously speaking, their ability to attract enemies and leaving mages and rouges do their job undisturbed is a great improvement from the other cRPGs.  DA: O Warriors do have more active abilities than their D&D counterparts and this makes them more interesting to play. Some talents can incapacitate enemies, therefore serving as a sort of crowd-control; I like that shield bash can shatter frozen enemies and free companions from monster clutches (though I've never tried it myself).

I like to let the AI manage warriors while I can focus on mages: I love mages because of the tactical depth of spellcasting, therefore I think playing warrior or rogue is a bit boring. I mean, playing warrior means *attack* *talent* *healing potion* *talent* *healing potion* *no more stamina* *attack* *potion* *attack* *potion*...
On the other hand, if I had to micromanage warriors too, battles would become too chaotic.

If I really have to say what I dislike about warriors... I miss the stamina potions from Dragon Age Journeys!

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?
The warrior is underpowered compared to mages because there are no stamina potions. On the other hand, I think this counterbalances the mages' weakness to melee attacks.
If you want to build a good warrior, you need to focus on a talent tree and forget the others, I don't think that a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none warrior can fight well. It's a pity, especially when you find *that awesome* 2 handed weapon if you're a sword and shield specialist - or if you find that bad ass shortsword and you're a 2 handed weapon specialist. Mages, on the other hand, can be effective even if they spend points in more than one talent tree.
One last word: as someone has already said, it's preposterous that warriors can't bash locks open! I know that if everyone could open locks, then nobody would bring rogues in the party... then why not adding more unique abilities to rogues?

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?
The champion is good beause his talents have positive effects on the other companions. The berserker is a real damage dealer. The templar has good anti-wizard talents, however by the time I need to use them, I've already ran out of stamina.... I haven't tried the reaver yet.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?
I think warriors should stand in the front lines, therefore archery is not for them. Warriors should carry a bow as a secondary weapon, but not rely on it. I don't have much to say about the other talent trees, each one has its strenghts and weaknesses, it depends on playing style.

My responses in bold:

Victor Wachter wrote...

Thanks for the great response to our last question about the tactics system. We're continuing to look to the community to make the Dragon Age franchise the very best that it can be. This week, we are interested in learning about the different classes in Dragon Age: Origins in threads dedicated to each.

In this thread, we'd like to ask your opinions of the Warrior class. Upcoming threads next week will cover the Rogue and the Mage.

 • What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?
 • Likes: I feel that warriors can have a lot of different roles in a party: tank, DPS, or even ranged damage.  It's also easy to mix and match a DPS type character with a tank and be pretty effective at both; my sword & board character, for instance, still was one of the top damage dealers in the party when I played as him.
 • Dislikes: Wariors don't have as many class-specific options as rogues and mages.  There isn't much variety outside of what weapon types they use, which is fine, but it would be nice to see another tree maybe for general warrior talents, or two maybe: one that focuses more on boosting combat/adding generic attacks that any weapon style can use and one that focuses on adding defense, armor or dex as inherent bonuses to your character.  The latter tree might help tanks to be more effective earlier on in the game also.
 • Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?
 • Frankly, I haven't run into anything overpowered on warriors in my play experience.  People generally regard them as "worthless" from what I've read on the forums, as even Alistair specced as a tank is considered inferior to Shale.  Personally, I think that if you spec them correctly, they're very effective damage dealers and tanks.  People don't tend to focus on dex much with their warriors (outside of DW), and it's actually more important (especially for a tank) than constitution is.  Which leads me to adding that constitution is greatly underpowered in this game.  It should either add a slight defense bonus per rank as well, or the health increase should be made greater.
 • What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?
 • Personally, my favorite specialization is the Champion.  When the tree is maxed out, not only do the abilities grant defense and attack bonuses, but War Cry is a very useful debuff for tougher enemies and it knocks them down as well.  I've played around with Berserker and Reaver a bit as well, and I especially like Frightening Appearance as it can take an enemy out of the fight for a while and works much like any mage spell that freezes an enemy in place.  However, I'm not a fan of how the Beserk talent shuts off after combat and has a countdown on the talent bar before it can be used again; I think all sustained skills need to work in the same way, and if this is done intentionally, then they shouldn't have a cooldown at all.  Personally, I think this needs to be fixed.  As far as my least favorite specialization, I'd pick Templar.  I don't dislike the class, I just think it's a little too situational, which makes it less effective than the other ones.  Really, only Holy Smite is useful against non-mages, and you have to wait until lvl 14 before you can even think of using it.  While it's not a bad specialization to take on as a secondary one, on my first playthrough I made the mistake of taking it first.
 • What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?
 • I don't really have an answer for favorite as there really aren't that many options and I haven't played anything other than a sword & board extensively on my PC.  I have used other types on my party members though obviously, and I'd say, for the most part, everything works well.  The only tree I haven't really had a use for was the precise striking line, but in all fairness I haven't really played around with it much (and Disengage is useless for a tank when you're trying to be the one to hold aggro in the party.)

What do you like and dislike about the Warrior?

Liked the sword and board spec a lot.  It felt like I was able to both tank AND do a respectable amount of damage.

Disliked sharing the archery and duel wield trees with the rogue.  The warriors need more to set them apart.

Disliked all the sustained abilities (especially for sword&shield).  Would have preferred  more abilities that change/improve the dynamic of a fight for an instant when used.

Is there anything that you feel that is underpowered or overpowered on the Warrior?

Not only is dual wielding ridiculously unrealistic, it is quite overpowered when compared to the other specs.

Twohand, on the other hand, is very lackluster and quite underpowered...especially at early levels.  The swings take absolutely too long...a lot of them end up being completely wasted because the thing is already dead halfway into the swing.

Archery is pretty bad altogether.

What are your favorite Warrior specializations? What are your least favorite?

Champion and Berserker seemed worthwhile, the others not so much.

What are your favorite Warrior talent trees? What are your least favorite?

Sword and Shield would be great is there werent so many sustainables.  Dual weild is great but overpowered.  Twohand isnt any good until later levels.

I liked this post back on Page 2:

In DA:O, I particulaly liked the Sword and Shield school.  I liked that the Shield was not a purely defensive item like in many other games, but the talents actually used the shield as an offensive weapon.  I liked that the Warrior had a fairly large selection of armor and weapons to choose from, and that the Warrior could get some "mage-like" abilities by pursuing the specializations.
I did not like that there was little to make the Warrior distinct from the Rogue (and to some extent the Mage) classes.  Aside from the weapon talents, the Warrior gets very few class talents, and the talents that she does get are very geared towards a defender-style role.  I would have liked more variety in the talents, similar to what the Rogue has.  As for the mage, I felt like the Arcane Warrior specialization detracted from the uniqueness of the Warrior further.
Now you have Rogues running around with the same weapons and more talents, and the mage running around wearing the same armor.  All the Warriors got were Shields, and two-handed weapons (which were underpowered).

Two-handed weapons also seemed underpowered, and dual-wielding seemed quite overpowered (especially in the hands of a Rogue, but also with the Warrior).  You could deal much more damage with a few daggers and a ton of enchantment runes than you could with a massive hammer and a ton of strength.  That just doesn't seem right to me.  Big smashy thing > tiny pointy thing.  This game had it backwards.
A lot of the imbalance stems from Momentum, which claims to use up fatigue quickly, but really has no noticeable effect other than to make your character attack at lightning speed.  Momentum should either have a very limited time where it can be activated, where you can see your stamina bar dropping rapidly with each attack, or the two-handed weapon school should have gotten a similar talent, making a two-handed Warrior with a large amount of strength able to swing the two-handed sword with the same ease as someone wielding a longsword.

Sword and Shield was my favourite, because it was the only useful talent set that was unique to the warrior class.  It also had a good mix of offensive and defensive abilities, and the defensive abilities had good trade-offs (do I reduce attack or damage?), and good counters for the abilities of other classes (no flanking, no knock-down).
Two-Handed weapons were my least favourite.  Mainly because they felt very underpowered, considering that you're using the strongest character with the largest weapon and getting out-damaged by everyone else, and the abilities seemed to focus more on crowd control and reducing the enemy's effectiveness, rather than pure smashy-smashy fun, which is what I would have expected from this set of talents.  Some of the talents (bonuses against golems and constructs?) also seemed out-of-place when you consider how few of these enemies you face, and how early you get those talents.

I feel like the warrior (rogue too) does not have enough choices for abilities for each weapon types. If you stick with one weapon you can max or near max the whole line + the main line and two specializations. There should be more choices for abilities.

For example, you could have a generic weapon line that would work with all melee weapons.

Archers fire basic arrows for free? Good grief!!! Thanks for the tip, Almond Brown. I quickly abandoned archery because it is crazy expensive to buy arrows. I did wonder how so many people were playing archers....

As others have said, I'd like to see more distinction between warriors and rouges. My first character was a dual-wield warrior, and I find that other than the fact that she was stronger, she doesn't play that much differently from my current dual-wield rogue except that my rogue gets extra damage with backstab and I have nifty skills like dirty fighting.

Perhaps a distinction between what weapons rogues and warriors could use would make sense - rogues use high dexterity and smaller weapons i.e. daggers and/or short swords and get access to dual wielding with a longsword and a dagger/short sword at dual wield mastery, while warriors have a little more emphasis on strength and using larger weapons so that mastery allows them to use dual large weapons like the game already does.

I also find two-handed warriors very difficult to use - I've never put one of my PCs through this tree for practicality reasons, and I have a very hard time using Sten and to a lesser degree Oghren effectively.

Of the specializations, Champion is by far my favorite, followed by Templar. I haven't had too much experience with Berserker as of yet, and none with Reaver as all my characters have been "good" so far, but Champion is very useful, especially when you're surrounded.

My kudos to the Dev team for taking an interest in making your game better!

I go Champion and Berseker. Have not messed with the reaver much, and If I need a Templar I have Alistair.

Opinions.

dual wield is nice, maybe adding some parrying specs.

Two-hander, slow start but hit pretty hard at the end with the advanced armor to help, but fragile at the start.

Archer, waste, get rapid fire and drop it. Don't do enogh damage and even with the higher end ablilities they are only real effective in mass. But a mage does it all better, so why bother with it. Needs increased base dps, tough one though because in mass they are effective especially later on with the aoe shot. Add to much dps and the ai will be brutal, maybe add a spec line just for increased dps, add some fancy reasoning to it and keep it out of the ai's hands.

Sword and shield, not bad, lower dps but good interrupts and knock downs.

Far as advanced classes, champion love the auras.
Berserker makes that two hander really work well.
Templar, made for the sword and shield guy, tank with aoe interrupts for messing with enemy casters.
Reaver have not played enough, not much into playing evil characters and thats the reaver, Evil with a capital E, or at least is sounds that way.
