Steve Cortez is the sorriest excuse for a character to ever grace the Mass Effect series, brought ME3's story down a lot...

Fair enough. Though I do like Joker, I can see where you're coming from.

Are you sure you're not confusing him with Jamie Kennedy? They both had the same 'short, nerdy loser' niche in the 90's and early aughts, and while I don't know much about Seth Green, I do know that Kennedy is said to have that attitude problem.Dude_in_the_Room wrote...
I remember seeing a story on TV...some filmography about something....I forget it was a while back. Anyway, it said how Seth Green complained and whined and threatened to quit the movie or something along those lines "Enemy of the State" b/c he wanted his character to have more backstory and more lines and all that.
His character was short of a friggin extra or something. He had not proven himself yet...still hasn't, but in any case....you don't do that without proving yourself to be worhty of that sort of thing.

@Dude in the room
So is it seth you don't like, joker, or both?
I like the concept of jokers character. Was well directed in ME1, pretty decent in ME2 with some leak from green himself, and a valiant attempt at expanding the character in 3 with a lot of green takeover.
I agree, I don't care for green myself, but I do like the character concept of joker.
The concept of Joker is fine. But it's Seth Green and his type of comedy and voice acting that just gets under my skin. It doesn't fit the ME series.
It's like:
Shepard - "Take us in closer Joker...this is gonna be a one way ticket" Triumphant music....DAH DA!!!
Joker - "Yeah....I'm counting pi b/c I let lose the evil robot...I'm a tool."
WTF? "Tool"? Next they'll have Ashely going arond saying "Hey Shep...that outfit is hawt" like Paris HIlton.

- I was on eggshells with him at first. I didn't want a ninjamance. However, after accepting his invitation to Purgatory, I saw that his romance is easy to avoid. Now he's a bro.

No it was him....the guy who does robot chicken.
I actually used to like Robot Chicken....but you don't bring Robot Chicken humor in ME.

I think he (and Vega and Traynor and even, perhaps, Javik) suffered because they're introduced in the last game. Less time for their characters to deepen and develop, less time for players to know them or care. Especially when there are already a host of characters from two whole games that are already known, loved, anticipated, and already alternating through the spotlight.
Like I said, I liked Steve and the others, but I did have a sense of "God not more people" when he appeared on the scene.

And I love that in the future, the whole gay issue isn't really an issue anymore. Makes me feel a lot more comfortable playing because there's always that pressure there in the back of my mind when it's mentioned. Humans aren't yelling racial slurs at one another anymore.. it's barely mentioned at all. Though, I kinda wish they didn't wuss out and kept the planned same sex romances in ME1 and ME2.. since they didn't, I wish there was a little bit more of a "coming out" conversation with Kaidan.
Although the future is not as hung up on it, I'm from here and now. I guess I'd have liked to see that dawning on Shepard's face and the eventual, "I've always felt he same way." with a warm smile.

"Your 'husband' died? Get over it."
Basically. Then he goes "The downtime gets to me sometimes, you know. I'm lonely."
Dude, we're trying to save the galaxy. Who cares!

Uh. Well, even when you're nice to him, you don't get locked in to his "gay" romance.
Watched my fiance do it on his male Shep. Besides, by then, you could always lock in to another romance and not have the option open at all.

Sensing homophobia....
All I heard is that your afraid if your nice to a gay man you'll somehow magically be dating him.
It's pretty much impossible to accidentally romance him. It would actually be easier to go to the store and accidnetally grab oranges instead of apples....

Like other characters in the game, you can only lock in a romance during one particular scene, and they usually make it pretty obvious. It's funny how often I see guys meta-gaming Steve's conversations.Adoramei wrote...

Yeah. Especially with the specific mention of Steve's "gay" romance. Why couldn't he just say romance?

Steve was put there to appease gay gamers, cause they b!tch and moan about how in ME2 Male Shep couldn't hook up with anyone- cause Kaysauce was so over Shepard in ME2. So yeah, it was just there to be there, like a lot of things in ME3. Just they're to appeal to a larger audience and make everyone happy. They did this with traynor too. Gotta have a lesbian in your game if you are gonna have a gay dude. just the nature of the beast. Expect more of the same in future BioWare products.

Seriously, that was pretty harsh. Sounds like more gay-hating.
Also, I just noticed that in syn's post he/she said "You lost your 'husband'?..."
Why is husband in quotation?
Wiat, don't answer that. I think I know the answer. I don't much care for it.

Garrus would have made a great gay alien LI, if only because hes probably the only one with a truly ambiguous sexuality, not including meta gaming with writers intent in mind.
