Read the f.ucking windows that appears in the middle of the screen... ALWAYS! IT'S IMPORTANT INFORMATION, FOR SOME REASON IT APPEARS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN, FOR YOU TO READ IT AND COMPREHEND IT.
Oh yeah, and the windows says that the post-campagin saves allows you to play DLC content.

Yes, you can play this using your end of game save. That being said, chronologically speaking DLCs are occuring during the time of the Blight. Expansions, such as Awakening, occur after the initial campaign, thus continuing the story.
