But...

If ME had forced you to choose between the Asari and the rest of the galaxy* (or one of its species) who would you save?

*This was meant as hyperbole. I'm asking where you'd draw the line for Asari survival. 

They're the oldest/most advanced race. Are they worth saving no matter what? What would compel you to give them up?

It really depends on the situation. Krogan vs. Salarians wasn't an issue of survival for the Salarians, just their participation in the war.

No... I wouldn't sacrifice them, but if it were an option I'd have made sure they lost their council position to either the Quarians/Geth or the Krogan

I would sacrfice the asari.

If there was an option to sacrifice the galaxy to save Humanity I would take it everytime.

Yes. Let's all pretend that no other government would ever keep secrets. Like secretly uplifting the Yahg, for instance. Or secretly burying a bomb on Tuchanka. Or secretly finding a Reaper corpse killed by the Leviathan and denying it's existence.

compared to other races even if just one ASARI survives they'll live again. Particularly hard to kill off. so you can sacrifice there planets and most of there cities. but i doubt you can kill them all.

this actually leads me to a thread im going to post after i think it through about races adapting to the cycle.

THE ASARI BEING ONE RACE THAT IS CLEARLY ADAPTING TO THE REAPER CYCLE.

LIKE THE KROGAN AND THE RACHINI.

What if your no sacrifice conflict solution removed their blue-ness? Dyed them yellow or something. Could you still do it?

I'd take Allers, Kai Leng, and Catalyst over the Asari.

Even without the Reapers on the scene, being home to the three war-faring races of the Humans, Krogan and Turians, the Milky Way galaxy would explode in a horrible cloud of war and savagery within a year of the Asari being wiped out. For the most part what's keeping the galaxy from slaughtering each other is the Asaris' strong economic and political influence, teamed with their wisdom, patience and aversion to warfare.

Yes, they kept the beacon to themselves. And yeah, they used it to give themselves a technological edge. But what they didn't do was use it to keep the rest of the galaxy down. If it'd been the Turians, Humans or Salarians in their place, it'd likely be a very different story.

So yeah, I could be pushed to sacrifice any race (humanity included) to save the galaxy, if the stakes were that high. But if it were the Asari, I really don't think it'd be 'saving' the galaxy for very long.

I don't like Destroy, and I don't pick destroy. However if the only way to save the whole galaxy from immediate destruction and it was the only chance, then I would kill of one species. But seriously! That's a last alternative just as it is with the Geth.
Fortunately I don't have to kill the Geth.

I'd kill the vorcha for the blueness. Yellow just doesn't work

Asari vs all other races in galaxy? That'd be bye bye asari but not because I dislike them... I'd just try to save the greatest number of people as possible.

Eta: Excluding Liara of course. I'd let half the galaxy die to save her:P
