We had:

Geth vs. Quarians

Krogan vs. Salarians/Turians

But...

If ME had forced you to choose between the Asari and the rest of the galaxy* (or one of its species) who would you save?

*This was meant as hyperbole. I'm asking where you'd draw the line for Asari survival.

They're the oldest/most advanced race. Are they worth saving no matter what? What would compel you to give them up?

No one race (not even humans) are worth all life in the galaxy, so 'sorry Asari'.

However, if it was a 'one to one' measure, like Quarians/Geth, I would not take direct action to end an entire race. If one of the must die, I won't be the one actively killing one of them.

Yeah I thought of the geth and EDI as a sacrifice, as I really did want to save them, but the other options were so hair-brained that this kind of does make their "sacrifice" feel kind of cheap.

Is it still off-topic if we rant about the endings, though?

This is ME3 we're talking about! Anti-ending rants are always on-topic. :D

Depends on the context of the situation. You didn't really provide any reasonable idea or context of what exactly is going down.

I can't make a decision here based on limited context.

I think KaiserShep's suggestion of treating it as "would you sacrifice your favorite race to save the galaxy" instead of Asari, specifically, would lend itself to more discussion.

Still, even that isn't much of a choice - should we stay on Virmire until the bomb goes off in attempts to rescue both Ashley and Kaidan? There really isn't much to discuss.

Favorite race? Quarians. Sacrifice favorite race to save the galaxy (y/n)? *grinds teeth* ...Yes. End of line.

Well,
the Asari are egotistical from my point of view. They kept a Prothean
artefact hidden from the rest of the galaxy in order to maintain their
own superiority. They refused to help the rest of the Galaxy fight the
reapers until they where facing them down themselves.
So? They're still the best chance for winning the war.

Liara could kick a puppy in the balls every time she gets on and off the ship, and I'd still sacrifice anyone else on the crew before her, because she has Singularity and that ability seriously just wrecks everything.

The Asari are not the best chance for winning the war. The Turians probably are. They have the best army, the biggest fleet, and all their civilians have gone through military service. Also, Asari only win wars because of their tactics- hit and run. They can't stand up in a firestorm the way Humans or Krogan or Turians can. Their hit and run tactics are also useless against the Reapers, because the Reapers have no supply lines, they can just ignore any attacks from behind by the Asari and go on attacking. This means the Asari are effectively useless.

The most
experienced soldiers and commanders are probably Turians, or Krogan, not
Asari. The Krogan are biologically built to be soldiers.
No, turians don't live any longer than humans. Your average asari commando has about 300-400 years worth of experience under their belt, whereas a turian would die before hitting 200.

Experienced krogan are rare, like Wrex. Dying species, remember?

Turians are extremely disciplined. They begin bootcamp when they are 15. The Turians have also gone through more wars in their history.
No, experienced Krogan aren't rare. Replacements are rare.
Asari commandos aren't very common themselves. A saying that shows this is "The asari are the finest warriors in the galaxy. Fortunately, there are not many of them."
