PUG minions are of poor quality indeed, that said I've found that running around with a Talon to be a very good idea, trying not to nuking everything and make it a 15min game at the risk of Trolling every1 is becoming harder and harder to resist

The gun or character?

Character
Spamming Mines non-stop and destroying everything cause those PUGs are depleting my Gels and Thermal Packs are more plentiful than Gels

Talon has become one of my favorte characthers for this reason. With a bad team you tend to get large clusters of enemies that it' easy to hit wit cain mines. I'm not sure how many teams I've bailed out in the last few weeks by doing that.  Not really caring about the money to much anymore helps.

Makes me wonder why people think the Talon is bad. I love him, and loved him before the update.

I only pug. There is a large number of new players and a lot of vets are leaving. This means less talent. I am good enough to solo gold with ease. Instead, I'll hand out free creds to the needy. If u r confident. You should too.

This. I also only PUG. I wouldn't say I can solo gold with ease, as I'm still working on it, but if I'm playing a preferred class I usually come in first on gold matches.

I got much better because when I was a crap newbie, when I bled-out, I paid attention to how the people who were still up and kicking ass did it.

I now make sure to try and do the same for newbies I play with.

Also, the PUGs have gotten downright terrifying lately.

I suspect the main reason the new-to-Gold players aren't using equipment items is, they feel it's a waste. They're finding mostly games with other newbies and when they all die on wave 2, they waste the equipment.

I've noticed a lot of Silver matches seem to have gone down too. I play Silver, it's where I'm comfortable, but yesterday and the day before I kept finding matches that were just awful. Today for example, I was playing a game as a Geth Scanner Smashdept. One person kept running off to solo the other end of the map and dying, and I was the only one trying to help them.
On the couple of occasions I died (Stupid Pyros,) it was crazy. Nobody would help anybody. I died literally at the feet of a Juggernaut and a human engineer. They'd gotten pushed back into one corner of the map by swarms of Geth Bombers and Hunters during an assassination wave. The other guy ran off and died, leaving us three. I was going out and hunting the targets and the other two were just camping. Well I killed all four targets and turned around and came back to them to keep Smashing things, and I got downed.
I would have bled out standing literally at the feet of both remaining teammates. The Juggernaut just kept dropping his shield and meleeing things. There was no way he could have missed 'Press X', I was that close.
And none of them would gel or even press X to slow their deaths, they bled out seconds after dying each time.
And on the couple of occasions I tried Gold on my Juggernaut... Ohohohoho NO. That was so awful it was traumatizing. I mean I know I wasn't going a good job, I suck at Gold. But these guys sucked worse than me, and when Cerberus backed us into a corner of the map... Three of us went down, one of us would revive another, then die. They'd revive another, then die. They've revive another, then die. And then the Engineers set up two Turrets overlooking our pile of corpses and that was that, nobody could get back up without dying before they could stumble out of line of sight.

Of course, it didn't help that I was thinking 'Told you so.' It was gold, and one of those people was a level 1 Destroyer with a GPRII and no gear or equipment. In fact me and another Jugg were the only ones WITH gear on. But when I tried to vote the Destroyer off the island, everybody else just readied up.

And it was a waste. Doesn't mean I'd ever go into Gold without gear, but I now acknowledge that anything I take into a Gold match nowadays is gonna be wasted on a pre-wave-3 wipe.

Yeah. The biggest drop off was right at the end of weekend ops... Looks like lots of people were just playing for a free gun each weekend :P

The new blood is fine, but they're all jumping onto Gold too fast. I bet there are plenty of Silver people who never moved up in difficulty either.

This.

I don't mind new players at all, but Gold is no cake walk when you're fairly new to the game.

Platinum is quite awful, had to kick 4-5 people with Darwin award loadouts or just plain newbies who went into higher difficulties.

Gold I think remains the same, usually games go smoothly.

I waited quite some time before going to silver, and even longer before going to gold. I had the N7 achievement completed before I regularly started playing gold.

I was doing a Silver challenge match the other day and a newbie joined in (his username was literally newbie) joined in rocking a Locust 1 and told me to change it Gold. He then proceeded to get thoroughly wrecked in the following Silver game.

I've been having more difficulty finding a decent pug group. Some days are great, but today...man...

I spent almost three hours trying to find a group that could get past wave 7. I left several groups for lousy setups. Other groups just couldn't do it.

They kept scattering and not concentrating fire. I remember one match on wave 7 I was running a volus engineer (forget name), one guy was running around getting murdered. One guy was a jugg who seemed to have just walked away from his character because he stopped doing anything but never disconnected. The other was a krolord who got downed.

I'm surrounded, nowhere to go. I would rocket, but before I can react I start getting stunlocked. The krolord was down right next to me. He kept saying "Roll volus...Roll away!"

"SHUT---UP! Use a f------ medigel!" I yelled into the muted mic. He just bled out. I kept trying to medigel but the stunlock was too much.

That's my rant for the day.

:o

I don't think you need to go THAT far.   Of course, the game was quite a bit easier when I made the silver-gold jump.

Honestly,  it's not THAT hard a jump to make.  Play a caster, try to not die to often and you should be ok. You may not score a whole lot, but you can manage to not be a burden either.

I've noticed a decrease as well, but it's more to do with a lot of new ill equipped players .

I dropped into a lobby with two such players with level 1 common weapons (without mods) and no permanent gear readied up in a gold lobby. We got joined by another new player just as ill equipped. I'd normally leave at this stage, but I was curious to find out exactly how they'd fare.

It ended up being Cerberus on Dagger hazard, and they all got downed and stomped instantly just as expected.

I am also noticing this. Before this last DLC was released, I maybe had to carry once every 4-5 games, which I was okay with, sometimes it's fine. Now it's much more frequent, every 1-3 games.
It grows rather tiresome when it seems your teammates are not even trying anymore, I notice alot are low leveled and under equipped players going in straight for gold. Another painful thing about this is it really restricts what classes I can play, because I know I'm probably going to have to carry.

I remember when I first started out, we were all terrified of gold, silver was the normal and gold was suicide, never played it because we all died early and it was really boring watching someone flail around for 5 minutes trying to finish the wave.

Player-quality in gold+ is an all-time low as far as I can tell (I'm on the PS3) and there are too many new players going straight into gold matches without any consumables whatsoever including gels and rockets. Its downright hilarious and depressing at the same time.
Not worrying about credits is probably my most cherished perk of having a maxed out manifest. Sometimes I'd join a godawful gold lobby just out of morbid curiosity and its funny how badass sounding ("I've completed SP in insanity noob!") some of these players are when you politely suggest to them that maybe they should try silver first. Not suprisingly, most of them couldn't even stay alive for more than 20 seconds in the early gold waves.

I only play with PUGs and i am the reason why the overall skill has decreased. I am an inept player and there is nothing you can do about it for as long you will play with PUGs.

I have really no shame and do not have less fun playing the game even when everything goes fubar and the mission fails.

I play with anyone and i am not picky, if i was, i would not play with PUGs you see? As soon as you decide to join a PUG, you have no ground to complain. You see it as an extra challenge to play with me or you quit. Fun fun.

Platinum is even worse. People don't use any equipment or consumables, and rage quit before wave 3.

And then their spot most likely never gets filled because usually no one wants to play games that are already on wave 4 or 5.

Generally seems to be the case at the moment. I've been scrubbing it up in Silver to grind out challenges faster lately. Spent yesterday PUGing it and... some of those rooms, just. Wow. I went to Silver for a nice, quick game, not to drag a room to glory kicking and screaming with a squishy character I'm not great with but need 200 waves for.

My back hurts. I go into Gold expecting to probably carry, but not Silver.

Good gold pugs are becoming very rare for me. Often time it's just noobs with bad equipment and quitters that bleed out.
