Now looking back at it, I think FBWGG was good place for new players to learn about team synergy and cooperation.. and build confidence.
I started my gold games with FBWGG / GI.

Definitely, yeah. My friends and I did it all the time, and not even for the credits or anything. We just enjoyed the idea of bunkering down and holding off a slowly advancing, overwhelming force. We thought it was enjoyable. Nobody I know was happy with the map changes that came with Retaliation.

The only thing I miss about the "FBWGG days" was that Decoy was useful and you had quite a few Salarian Engineers playing.

This should be good.

If I weren't able to PUG Gold with a high success rate, my answer might be different, but right now, it would be entirely pointless for me to do that. It wasn't particularly fun for me, and when I did it, it was only for the credits and because I wasn't good enough to play Gold at the time.

I certainly don't miss FBWGG - they were the first platforms I entered when I moved up to gold for the first time. To be honest, I found farming stressful; I would've liked to play 'normally' - being up the top of the map by the stairs and ammo box and running round as and when - you know, just normal and doing your thing.

Farming just doesn't really teach you any useful skills. If you're just here to grind here for credits, well, then, you're doing it wrong...

doing the bottom room thing often took longer than moving around as a team or in pairs and killing stuff faster.
but that's how i was introduced to gold so who am i to criticize.
there is still a spot ..if it works for extraction, it can work for the whole game i'd think.. ammo can be a small prob.

Actually I think I would, at least for a few games. That's how I started with gold. It didn't take that much time and it was easy. It's still possible actually, just a little harder.
Also I want my Lancer, but I'm not going to use the box of shame...

Being unable to find a U/U/G game was annyoing though.

Reapers/Giant/Platinum with 2-3 flamer users is just as easy, but it hasn't caught on for some reason.

I used to do it...wouldn't do it now...BORING. You can be just as effective against the Geth with the right kits. 3 Quarians, (Male & Female Infiltrators, Male Engi) and any other class can steamroll the Geth pretty easy

Uninstall the retaliation DLC. I did a few days ago to see what it was like, and it was super nostalgic. Played with a few buddies. It felt way cramped being on the old one.

Just go to giant instead. Wherever you camp you at least have long sight lines. Hydras fine too but certain angles are a bit exposed. Reactors nice to camp too but you have to be a bit more mobile at times and the team does need to have a bit more experience.

Uninstall Retaliation? Works if Reckoning is still installed? Sounds like fun. Old Glacier with a Juggy could be new/old box of shame.

I enjoyed the certain defense type of game play myself.

It was nothing like what I play now.. but just another way of enjoying game.
Enemies constantly coming.. and the team staying in one spot defending it was funny.

Shooting my Revanant with my Turian sentinel, my engineer using drone / overload to full extent, satisfying energy drain -> widow headshot...

I personally did enjoy defense style game.

When I played pre-nerf GI built for proximity mine / GPS, I ripped apart everything instead of camping though. Stun everything !

Incidently to those who are really familar with FBWGG; is it really different now that you can't grab geth pyros over cover, and also with the addition of geth bombers?
