I was under the impression everyone loved Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story fans were the scum of the galaxy from what I've read from N64 fans. I liked Yoshi's Story but have never played a SNES game, so have nothing to compare it too.

The N64 is easily the best console ever. It is the greatest because it didn't try to be PCLite, it tried to be a great console and succeeded greatly. I hope that Nintendo manages to create a console with a library half as good as the N64 someday.

So you think the N64 had a better library of games then the SNES or NES?

No, I know it did.

I know it's cliched to say this but I'm going to anyways.  "May I have what you're smoking?"

Nintendo 64 was great. GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, Ocarina of Time (the best game ever), Star Fox 64, Shadows of the Empire and it goes on and on and on. Rogue Squadron was darn hard, and a host of other great and memorable games from my third generation of gaming. Still have it, and still fire up GoldenEye and Perfect Dark now and then.

I must be having some kind of stroke because I KNOW you people aren't talking about the Nintendo 64 without mentioning Mystical Ninja Goemon!

Or Megaman Legends!
Seriously!
It's all Ocarina of Time this, Perfect Dark that

Ah - the N64 era...many good memories!

My favorite games from the N64 would include:

- Majora's Mask
- Ocarina of Time
- Banjo Kazooie
- Donkey Kong 64
- Conker's Bad Fur Day
- Goldeneye
- Perfect Dark
- Duke Nukem: Zero Hour
- Mario Party (ruined all of my controllers!)

So many classics - almost entirely produced by 2 studios (Nintendo's internal studio and Rare)!

Doesn't hold a candle to the SNES though in my books...what is really missing from the above list? RPGs!

I WAS THINKING ABOUT THAT GAME THE OTHER DAY AND I COULDNT REMEMBER THE NAME!!!

I actually prefer Goemon's Great Adventure >.> I have fond memories playing the multiplayer.

In all honesty, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon was boss on so many levels. The quirky humour was great too. Too bad not many played that game. I played as Goemon and Yae the most, until I got Sasuke, then I replaced Goemon with him. I never actually got to play the sequel unfortunately, it was rare as hell to find.

No one else thought Starcraft 64 was good?

I spent many, many hours playing that game with my brothers.

Yeah, yeah the controls, but think about it. The N64 had a SPLIT SCREEN RTS, something that current gen consoles don't even have.

I always role my eyes when console RTS developers say they can't make the game split screen; Nintendo did it over a DECADE ago!

Sorry. Rant over.

Mario Kart 64 was the best game ever. Period.

I just have to think about all those little joysticks in the middle of the N64 controller I ruined with this game... good times.

I was 10 years old at the time N64 came out. I remember really wanting WCW vs. NWO: Would Tour. Mario Kart and Ocarina of Time. I grew up playing the NES and SNES, so the N64 and 3D games (not the wearing glasses type of 3D) was a big deal.

Real talk? Dayum. That's largely from where my anger issues come from. I threw the controller at my brother's head, actually.

I still consider Banjo-Tooie to be an example of how to do a perfect sequel.

Ahhh, Banjo-Tooie.  I 100%-ed that.  Well except for racing that damn canary the second time.  Must have tried that thing 200 times and always got smoked.

My favourite memories of the N64:

-Goldeneye
-Ocarina of Time
-Quest 64  (Yes, Quest.  Leave me alone!)
-Smash Bros
-Mario Kart 64  (Still think it's the best Mario Kart)
-Banjo Kazooie
-Star Fox
-Pilot Wings  (Got so close to all perfect scores!)
-WWF: No Mercy  (Only wrestling game I ever played or will ever need to play)

I'm sure I'm missing a ton.

Yoshi's Island blows Yoshi's Story out of the galaxy.  I think people were expecting a true sequel to the SNES game, and were blindsided by what they got.

I got some anger issues from Mario Party 7 in college at game night last year, we ended up calling Toadette a 'goddamn ****' because she (as an NPC) was constantly kicking our asses.

Ah Mario Party. A terrible memory just came back to me, though from MP5 on the GameCube, not the first one. It was the last turn of the game, and I was in the lead by quite a lot, getting me a guaranteed win. Albeit only by being a clever (and lucky) douche and stealing and getting stars first from my brother and friend at every opportunity I could. My brother was pissed because he was losing pretty badly. Cue my final turn where I land on a Chance Time space and well... I shouldn't really have to say what happened next. Just that it was the single most crushing defeat I've ever felt in a multiplayer game.

I've always played it moderately safe in Mario Party games since then, and nothing really bad on that level has happened. Oh god, imagine if Mario Party 10 gets online play. The horror, the horror!
