Ah Mario Party. A terrible memory just came back to me, though from MP5 on the GameCube, not the first one. It was the last turn of the game, and I was in the lead by quite a lot, getting me a guaranteed win. Albeit only by being a clever (and lucky) douche and stealing and getting stars first from my brother and friend at every opportunity I could. My brother was pissed because he was losing pretty badly. Cue my final turn where I land on a Chance Time space and well... I shouldn't really have to say what happened next. Just that it was the single most crushing defeat I've ever felt in a multiplayer game.

Man, I hate chance time.  Although to be honest it's only really tripped me up once, in MP2.  Had 10 stars (a 5-star lead on second place) in a 50-turn game.  Somewhere in the last five turns, the guy in forth lands on chance time and switches out his 2 stars for my 10.  He won, but I managed to get second by picking up an extra star and the coin and mini-game bonus stars.  Still hurt.

Ogre Battle 64. An ok game but not on par with March of the Black Queen. So I was a little disappointed.

How has no one mentioned this gem?

Dat soundtrack.

I actually found out about the BK soundtrack going up on Bandcamp the other day while watching the Game Grumps guest episode that had Grant Kirkhope. Just forgot to mention it, my bad.

I remember it as the last good console I that Iplayed before the dark times. Before the X-Box 360. Not that I dislike what cambetween the N54 and X-Box, it's just that after the N64 I got into PC gaming and never went back.

On topic: Nintendo are just lucky that they and their friends (Rareware and other first party devs) were ****ing incredible at game development because if every single one of their few games weren't gold Nintendo most likely would have failed spectacularly.

I was five when I got my one and only chance to play the N64.

I got to play Mario 64 for about 10 minutes.

I couldn't figure out the controls and it was basicly the camera going weird and me running Mario face first into walls.

Then the neighbours kid took the controller back and I watched as he played it.

It was only 10 minutes... but I still remember it.
