Didn't bother me either, though Khalisah could have been even more fun, least she has some spirit and knows how to bite Posted Image

But really if they wanted her to be aboard the ship they should have done more... Perhaps have an event where she's sneaking around outside Liara's Cabin? Trying to investigate this great mystery! Perhaps interview the crew. Give her more character to justify her presense.

Agreed.

I don't even think it's Jessica Chobot's fault that Diana Allers isn't a great character. The interviews were a good idea and I thought her voice acting was OK (of course she isn't the best voice actress either ^_^). The writers simply didn't give her much to work with. Even with Khalisah Al-Jilani, you get a paragon interrupt and she shows a vulnerable and emotional side. Allers doesn't have a single emotional moment in the game. Bioware didn't put much effort into the interviews (some short and generic lines), and her romance arc is also completely shallow.

The ruined face-scan and her absence in the EC/citadel DLC (that would have been a opportunity to improve the character) didn't help either.

I didn't regret taking Allers on the Normandy. Kicking her off again was priceless and totally worth it.

I don't regret it, but I would've preferred Emily Wong.

Emily Wong was an extremely minor quest-giver in ME1. al-Jilani is a running joke.

Yet both of them are included in both ME1 and ME2. And they both do the job that the Chobot-character is given.

If you're angry that they used Allers instead of an established reporter, realize that the Allers role was invented specifically for Jessica Chobot. They didn't have that role designed for Wong and then swap out at the last minute. Wong would not have been aboard the Normandy under any circumstances, because she's not worth the resources. Ultimately, Allers wasn't worth the resources either, but they were hoping it would grant some extra exposure and/or making a famous-ish Mass Effect fan a part of the game.

That's...kind of the thing. It was pretty obviously designed around Jessica Chobot. But it doesn't convey any of the appeal of Jessica Chobot, while it does compromise the integrity of the narrative in which pseudo-Chobot appears.

I had to look up who this Chobot is, and I have no idea how they thought the in-game face look anything like the real person, who is actually an attractive woman.

Oh, god no. Shes not attractive at all.

The character could have worked if it was a large Krogan instead of a human woman.

But with the same voice and outfit.

I only have her for her war asset interviews; she adds assets to the Krogan, Quarians, and Geth.

Even though in the end, it really doesn't matter :P

I didn't hate her, I just never found her exciting, but yeah I always visit her since I need to go and see Javik in that level anyway. The only character I don't like at all is Kai Leng even his name sounds out of place.

No. I felt bad for her she seems so lonely in that room with her camera she's like hiding out the whole game with her and her thoughts with the occasional big story to break the monotony.

 agree with the bold .

as i stated ealier i had no problem with "Diana"  either in any way  (including her  outfit )  very nice

nope I liked the character and thought Jessica did a good job. I was surprised Emily Wong was not there but just becase she wasn't  it didn't change my opinion of Diana. Some people dont like Diana simply becase shes not  Emily Wong.

I think they could have done more with her but as wiith ME3 in general you can sum of one of its main faults in 2 words.

 Missed Potential
. Alot of it.

I wouldn't say that there's no resemblance whatsoever, but the in-game version really looks like they took a scanned face, mapped it rather haphazardly onto a constructed body, and decided it was good to go. Which is odd, because I gather they did something similar with Mark Meer and Yvonne Strahovsky, with less jarring results.

I've yet to take her along in a playthrough. I don't even really have a problem with Chobot/Allers. Well, I think her outfit in game looks trashy. But that aside, it just doesn't make sense for me to take her along. My Shepard's disillusioned with the Alliance, and he hates the press. Furthermore, he needs to stay focused on fighting the war, not on how to best publicize it. It seems disrespectful, to me.

Lastly, I don't think my Shepard really wants to be remembered or be a public hero. He's fighting the war for the people he cares about, and because it's necessary for survival. I think he'd prefer to disappear after the Reapers are gone.

Even if Emily Wong or anyone else was in Allers' place, I still wouldn't take them on board. They have no place on my ship, way I see it.

I didn't care much for her, but I'd never be so insane that I'd wish her dead.

Come on, she's not real. Haven't you ever wanted to see a fictional character fictionally die?

No, only villains or cynical characters who kill people just for the hell of it. Jack got close first time I played through ME2, but even her I had no wish for to die.

Still, "insane" is a pretty strong word to use for someone who wants to see a minor video game character die in a video game.

She didn't bother me. The only time I ever interacted with her was when she wanted the interviews.

Not sure.
One hand it is like you don't have someone giving you irrelevant interviews that are somewhat interesting but on the other hand you don't have to see her ugly annoying ass.

That wasn't my reason. I listened for a moment while she harassed one of my crew and decided that b**** will never set foot on the Normandy.

Oh you mean when one of your crewmembers tries to intimadate a member of the free press and an Alliance citizen into changing her editorial just because he gets butt-hurt by something she said?

Nope. Right when you reach the Citadel the first time. One of the Normandy crew is sitting trying to collect his thoughts and she's standing there grilling him. He asks her to leave him alone and she only does because Shepard shows up. I don't want that b**** having access to any of my crew.

I loved Diana Allers' character and face palm every time I see ANOTHER thread whining about her.  It's really simple, if you hate her character just don't let her on the Normandy.  She ends up helping with the war effort by drumming up support via positive news stories on curing the Genophage, repelling the Cerberus coup and ending the Geth/Quarian war.  What exactly is the harm in that?  It's amazing the parts of ME3 that people find to obsesively whine about.  Tali's face photo fail, the lack of back story on new characters like James, and of course the Deus Ex-like endings among other things are what bothered me about ME3 but I can't understand the still constant outrage over Allers.  Anyway, I Posted Image Jessica Chobot.

I don't mind her.

She helped the war effort with her interviews.

Also, her big butt would probably be an excellent meatshield in case someone tried to board the Normandy again.

You mean Mark van der Loo right? He was the face of Shepard. Mark Meer only did the voice of Shepard.

And I wouldn't say Miranda looked less jarring than Diana Allers. To me, Miranda looks more like a female version of Michael Jackson than anything else. She doesn't look like the real Yvonne at all. Yvonne is much prettier than that ugly Miranda.

I'll be honest; Allers didn't upset me that much. I still remember Chobot being on the first Sci vs Fi for Mass Effect 1, so it kind of fit for me. I'm not saying she was the best character in the world, but it did kind of take me back to 2007/2008 hearing the voice.

I wasn't aware we could do this.  Time to do some internet searching for when I do another playthrough.  I assume we get our fish back first right?
