The Turian Sabo and venom shotgun are generally regarded as subpar (or a pathetic excuse, to quote on of the BSNers), however if you are like me (or perhaps DullahansX) and love stylishly impractical builds, then this is the build for you.

Build

0/6/6/6/6

Sentry turret - it's garbage. completely useless

Sabotage -backfire, explosive hack, tech vul (this is important)

Homing grenades - radius. fire. twin nades (important too)

Turian passives. Power. Power. Stability and damage

Fitness. Health. Melee. Melee.

Weapons.

Venom Shotgun with barrel and OMNI BLADE (HECK YES. MWAR CHOPPA POINTEH BITZ)
Hurricane for piew pew dakka.

Gear (must have)
Grenade capacity 5
Disruptor ammo

How to play:
1. vs spawns - charge up venom shotgun. shoot into spawn, prime EVERYTHING for a tech burst.  cast sabotage. if they are organic, backfire will do tons of damage and prime a lvl 6 tech burst as well. If they are geth, explosive hack will cause massive luzly explosions when they die. shoot twin homing grenades in.
Result = 1.5X DAMAGE TWIN TECH BURSTS. repeat until spawn is dead. if you want more style points, heavy melee with shotgun omniblade + tech vul to do over 4k melee damage in a AoE. F yes

2. vs phantoms (or any infantry like enemy)
Shoot charged venom at her face. this will absolutely destroy ALL her shields on gold.
Sabotage.
Heavy melee.
And she's dead.

3. vs bosses. whip out that hurricane and piew piew it to death.

You get extra style points for doing 1. and then turning about and walking away as the spawn dies behind you, because cool hipster turian engineers don't look at explosions that annihilate spawns.

this build gets more and more powerful the more techs there are on your team. if there is a paladin, tech vulnerability + twin homing nades detonating TWIN (+50% more damage) cryo explosions causes absolutely lulzy amounts of damage. works fine too if you have someone with overload or arc grenades or anything that primes elemental combos.

This build is generally strongest vs Cerberus and geth. okay against reapers. found somewhat wanting against collectors.

but it's stylish, and that's all that matters.

Never let practicality get in the way of manliness.

tldr: tech vulnerability will boost the saboteur's melee damage. twin homing nades + disruptor ammo + tech vul => 2 1.5x damage tech bursts

^ it does. I think Cyonan or Pedro calculated that he can do up to 4.2k damage (Melee TGI can do max of 4.3k melee damage) if he is geared up for full melee. although even with the omniblade + melee specialist you can pretty much murder any infantry unit with a heavy melee.

I prefer the Havoc melee cancel. Much fun, and you get stim packs - plus, you can use cryo blast first and a fire effect on your havoc strike for tech bursts.

However, thank you for a great variation on a less than popular build. I don't have grenade capacity gear, or a venom though *sadface*.

I actually like using the Saboteur, he only faults are that compared to the TGI he doesnt look so good, and everyone hates the sentry. I actually really like the sentry, and I love homing grenades. I used to love sabotage too, but sadly it is a shadow of what it was..I used to take my quarian female and outscore everyone with a turret build, granted the turret alone doesn't do so much damage but bear in mind that you don't waste time waiting for any cooldowns and the whole time it is attacking you are also firing your own gun and you have some pretty good overall damage going on. Its never going to be amazing but its not as bad as everyone makes out.

the striker is only good on the destroyer with an arc pistol secondary for different defenses

yes the falcon works well too. venom has a bit of a learning curve to it and behaves oddly off host so there are cases when the falcon can outpreform it. I mainly use the venom because I can stick the omni blade on it and it serves largely the same function as the falcon (with the advantage of being able to fire while sprinting like other charge up weapons)

I've been going back and forth about the turret and homing grenades on a melee build. Neither power has seemed very useful: the turret operates on its own schedule and the grenades are always late to the party. As a result I've been putting four ranks in each, figuring that the turret's shock evolution might come in handy and some grenades are better than none.

But, you've got good points about the tech bursts from the split evolution. I'll give it a spin next time I play him. My venom is only level one, and I'm thinking that the scorpion w/ power&stunner might be a fun setup as well. (Though only 3500 or so melee damage vs 4200 with the SG-OB.)

Do you mind if I link to your post in my turian melee thread?

This sounds fantastic. I've been trying to make this guy work for a while, but came up with nothing much beyond using the skills as a secondary. Not something I'm fond of in a non-soldier/infiltrator character.

Also, you put the venom to work. My hat is completely off to you. Will definitely give this a try.

I would just bring any gun that's good for spreading ammo and has some good stopping power to it, scorpion, pirahna (<--- this one sounds good, light, good at close quarters, multiple rounds, etc.) arc pistol, and others come to mind

Played two Geth/Gold game with about the same build and liked him quite a bit.  Weapons were the piranha (choke/SGOB) and locust for no particular reason.  Even withouth the Venom's AoE stagger I was able to destroy the occasional spawn with a sabo/nade/melee combo.  I had the advantage of a competent kroguard on the team, allowing me to co-tank primes and groups of pyros pretty easily.  Got the silver melee medal by wave seven despite frequent use of the locust and many 'accidental' kills with my piranha. :o

The split grenade is definitely helpful.

FYI, Sabotage still primes tech bursts on hacked targets (despite no backfire).

Once my Venom hits V or VI I'll probably opt for it. 

Overall, I'm much happier with this than the 4/6/4/6/6 melee build I was running before.

I approve of this video... even though OBVIOUSLY there are PC hax goin' on. No way the Sabotuer can kill that quickly ; )

What shield gear/adrenaline/power amp do you take with him?
