Then again there is the real problem, the OP really kind of sucks :D

I did host two Silver matches that ended in full extractions, one was even the acid rain Benning one (I hate that rain). I was pretty liberal with the rockets though during the final waves when the bosses were out. I had one Pretorian chase me in a circle through the trailers twice, while I was trying to take it out using soft cover (another thing I'm *trying* to practice, when I get a rare chance).

1. People are trying not to be dicks here because we understand that for newer players less familiar with the game mechanics, things won't be easy early on.
2. If you're struggling with a damned Silver match of any sort, Benning included, then you're in the same boat. For any decent player with decent experience, there's no situation in which extracting on Silver should be an issue (except maybe if you solo).

*chuckle* I'm the OP, so I'm allowed to acknoledge that I kinda suck ;)

And I am very thankful that people have been kind enough not to point that out.  But I am also a realist.  I strive to get better, but I know there will always be limitations in my game play.  My reaction time isn't fast enough.

It's just experience, man. Just play this game over and over again and you'll get so good that you'll watch at this post and smile, thinking how much of a noob you were ;)

I remember that!

This is a game where you never stop learning and getting better.

Damn, some time ago someone asked me for some vanguard vids on gold, so I provided my old Drellguard solo which dates back in november I think and man... Did I shudder at it. I was such a noob

I was almost ashamed of posting that thing. And I was already good enough to solo Gold with a Drellguard, clearly. I don't want to know how much I'd laugh if I could watch at my first matches

Cyonan's page mentions it, and I've seen it plenty of times in-game. I don't really want to spend a bunch of time sorting through videos, but it's absolutely a fact of the game.

Actually, **** it, just look at the May 16th balance changes.

Okay, I gotta be honest, I have my doubts for a second. Just came back from a Gold Geth solo. You will never guess how many Primes on the Wave 10. I'll give you a hint: it's more than 1, but less than 3. As I said before  - Cyonan's page is outdated. And balance changes since May 2012 has, well, changed. If you don't believe me, let's go into Gold Geth match. Just 2 of us. You'll be hosting and will have complete freedom do to anything to make a third simultaneous Prime appear on the objective Wave.

Edit: typos

Yeah I'm under the fairly strong impression that there are 2, too. Don't quote me on that though... I don't play Geth nearly enough to be sure about it

Often I read things like "Oh I'll go play Silver to relax", and I'll watch videos where people just breeze through Gold matches while chatting away talking about other things.

Last night I'm hosting a silver match against Geth on Hydra, and it is the wave 10 objective.  I'm carrying the pizza and trying to go a different route, because I just ran past a Prime to get to the objective.  Anyway, ended up trapped by two other Primes and a pile of Pyros and bombers.  I ended up using all of my gels and all of my rockets trying to get out of that corner.  We all bled out and failed the mission.

Afterwards I'm staring at the red screen thinking, "and this was a Silver match O.o"

It's a practice thing.  Really.

Honestly, I used to have Silver games like that.  Still do, occasionally, when I play U/U/S and come into a Collectors match with two players already down, which seems to be a curiously common occurence for some reason.

But I kept on playing at Silver, and I got better.  I'm still not at a level where I can treat a Gold game in a similar way, but I'm playing it more and more often, and no doubt I'll improve on that level too (or the player base will dry up first. One or the other).

You'll find yourself adjusting for the greater firepower, health and size of spawns with enough games under your belt.  It might be best to go into Silver with one of your powerful unlocked classes first (Kroguard, TGI, AIU...something like that) and, as you find the game getting easier with them, adjust downwards.  Maybe use some level one consumables too, to start with.  If you're anything like me, you probably have a ton of them and never use them. And they're cheap as hell to replace.

Keep in mind, a lot of the posters on this board have been playing Gold for a long time. Some have moved on to routinely playing Platinum and regard even Gold as laughingly easy now (I'm still stuck firmly in Gold, personally).

We're running around in the most powerful Kits, wielding powerful Level X Rare/UR weapons loaded with the Level V Mods, and wearing the Level III/IV Equipment and Level V Gears.

And most importantly, on top of that we have hundreds of hours more experience than you. We know all the tricks: reload cancel, reload hiding, right hand advantage, cloak cooldown override, rolling weapon switch, running with pizza, OPS Pack synch kill denial, Warp + Incendiary, forcing Phantom bubble and so on. We know the maps, Wave composition, enemy weaknesses, sounds, behaviour and spawn points.

You're 170 hrs in, you don't have your weapon mods at max, only a few Gears at low level, no high level Rare guns and only 2 max Uncommons (though you do have two useable URs: Harrier II and Hurricane III). In short you have a Silver level Manifest. You're SUPPOSED to find Silver a challenge. It's where you're meant to be.

I commend you for playing at where your manifest and your experience level suggest you should be, instead of jumping into Gold with something ridiculous like a Carnifex VI, PHB I, Combatives I and no consumables equipped. That makes you officially a better person than roughly 50% of the folks I see in Gold PUG lobbies these days.

Just keep buying Veteran Packs until Uncommon Weapon Mods are maxed and you've got a few max Uncommon Gears, then start on Spectre/Arsenal Packs until you have some high level Rare guns. Preferably Spectre IMO, as it gives you more equipment, Gear and Mods. By the time you've managed that, you'll have the manifest and probably have the experience to try for Gold.

Good luck and have fun!

You'll get there eventually. Every good player was a noob once. Just keep playing, watch some of the videos on BSN and you'll get there.

Well you did conveniently link it in your sig.

Also, did you remember to use your Ops Packs? Or did you just not have any left by then?

Yeah, I used them.  Didn't use them all up, but I was trying to gel, then use a pack to get some distance, then rocket the crazy spawn with all the bodies lying under the dancing Geth.  I'm sure I hit the wrong keys there on occasion.

In retrospect what I should have done first is use an ops pack and run like hell.  Rocket the spawn from a distance, then go back and get the pizza.  But it is easy to think of what you could have done better 36 hours later. :D

Gold didn't start to feel easy until probably around 400 hours for me.

I spent a long time playing silver though, didn't start playing Gold regularly until I had about 250 hours logged.

And once again, having maxed rares, level IV consumables, and maxed mods and gear makes a huge, huge difference.

i'd understand if it had been a silver collectors match. Those guys are vicious.

Try doing silver duos with a good friend.

Can't. You're PC, I'm Xbox. Find a balance change that undoes the one I linked, or at least find some legitimate, externally verifiable source of information. My experience, including recent experience, is that there are 3 primes on wave 10 of Gold/Geth. That's what the devs say. That's what Cyonan says. That's what my personal experience says. Why should I believe what you say?

Devs does not say that. You just found an almost one year change note, that has been changed just like many other entries.

Cyonan does not say that. You just saw that false entry in Cyonan's outdated sheet .

Your personal experience is not much of a proof either. I can say that I saw 4 Banshees on unicycles, juggling with Warp balls. But that does not make it true.

Anyway, forget it. Prooving anything to you is just not worth the time. Maybe some of our glorious BSN celebrities will confirm it to you. Hope that'll be enough for you.

It's less about reaction time and more about understanding game mechanics. Learning to use soft cover and right hand advantage is a big boon. So is reload cancelling. So is a decent manifest with good weapon/gear/character unlocks, and a greater understanding about combo damage. Really, a lot of stuff is just knowing the game a bit better. My reaction time is ****, and I do alright.

The devs absolutely do say it. Balance changes don't get outdated. Future changes can undo them, but that isn't the case with the number of primes on wave 10. Look over the balance changes. Find where they changed the number of primes from 3 to 2. Find SOME actual evidence for your claim, like I have, instead of just making an arbitrary claim.

There are 8 enemies on the field until the objective is done. Tell me what exact composition there is for the 8 of them. Cyonan's sheet says it should be 3 primes, 3 pyros, and 2 hunters. Be very specific; what 8 enemies are on the field, according to you?

Lol. C'mon man, be serious now. I'm 95% sure that each and every single Geth game I've played in the last moths there have been 2 Primes on wave 10. I'm sure lots of other people here have the same idea...

I can't say for sure, but it's either 1 Rocket Trooper instead of 1 Prime, or 2 Rocket Troopers instead of 1 Prime and 1 Pyro.

So, it's either 2 Primes, 2 Pyros, 2 hunters, 2 Rocket Troopers or 2 Primes, 3 Pyros, 2 Hunters and 1 Rocket Trooper.

I guess poor Rocket Troopers just doesn't know Cyonan hasn't add them in his doc. As well as Guardinas for Cerberus/Silver, as well as 2 less Primes for Sliver/Geth. And the list goes on.
