There has been countless theories on Flemeth in the forums I believe by now, Flemeth seems to play a part in the events of dragon age in the games and the books. It seems that the developers foreshadow her as something huge and big.

I am about to share a theory on what flemeth is, do share your thoughts on your opinion.

First off all in this theory, I will not be using any of the lore regarding the chantry, I feel that the chantry is a pile of bull**** but the chantry will pop up in this theory due Justice from dragon age: awakening claiming that spirits do not know whether the maker exist and demons don't practically care about it, and spirits who do believe in the maker only believe in the maker due to them appearing in the dreams of mortals. Furthermore Demons have claimed that the existance of the Golden city and the Maker is false and deemed that the Chant of light is nothing but a pile of steaming ****.

Spirits such as Justice have no point in lying as it goes against their morals, and spirits who believe in the maker, believe only because the maker appears in dreams of the mortals.

In my theory the Maker is a spirit/demon,which will come into play.

Let us start off with what we know about flemeth:
1) She is a powerful being
2) She has connections with the Dalish, Chasind and probably all races in the game
3) She foreshadows the great events that occur: Read the books
4) Connection to the darkspawn
5) Strings the major events: Dragon Age events and Dragon age 2

What we do not know:
1) Flemeth's Age: There are various versions out there and not true one can is either the truth
2) Flemeth's Origins: What she was or who she was.

These videos are important:

So let me begin my theory:

Due to the fact that Flemeth's true origin and age is unknown, I can presume that she was originally a Dalish self before becoming what she is today a human in appears, since elfs are the oldest race in dragon age lore and one of the first people

Flemeth is an Elf who knew magic as magic was practiced in the open before the elves became slaves, during the period of slavery it is possible that Connabar or Osin whoever was her husband at that point and one of the slave master Osin/Connabar saw her and got captivated with her. The slaver murdered flemeth's husband and then married Flemeth who caught wind of the act, wanted revenge, knowing that her magic was not strong enough to overthrow the slavers, Flemeth seeked aid from the fade.

The spirit that came to Flemeth's aid was the Maker, (The first spirit/demon who created it all). The spirit granted Flemeth the power to overthrow the slave masters but at the cost of the elves history and roots as an even trade.

After the slaves were free, Flemeth seperated from them to master her new found powers, years of practice and research she found a way of immortality.

Seeing how Flemeth had become powerful, many decided to learn from her and thus the cult of flemeth was created. Many learned but did not become powerful as her.

The cult seperated into 2 factions later on: 1 wanting to overthrow her in power, 2 those who still supported. Those who wanted to overthrown flemeth created the Old gods in the process, saw how flemeth got her powers from a powerful spirit/demon, assault the fade with the Old gods to destroy the spirit that Flemeth had but failed. The spirit cursed them and the darkspawn were born, and they became more powerful than flemeth in a way. Flemeth turned back to her spirit and disputed with it and subjacated it in a way or fused with it to stop the new forces. In the process flemeth died, those who were loyal created the grey wardens and the dark ritual where the essence of the old gods is transfer to a body, flemeth now a spirit wondering the fade learned knowledge of this and guided the cult in the process. With the first blight now gone, the first old god's power merged with flemeth in her new body. being more powerful then ever.

Seeing that the first blight was over and her cult who betrayed her still had followers, Flemeth took the mantle and became andastre to purge them, the cult who believed in her then created the chantry for the fear of this happening. Flemeth did not like this and pretended to be burned at the stake and transfered to a new body in the process and fled her cult.

Thus flemeth is what she is now something greater than what we imagined, and the cult is why we have the chantry now.

now i don't really agree with the Elf thing it just seems as if you got that made up just for more shock value but the idea of the Maker (or the one first spirit) is actually really cool although I think that spirits and demons predate Flemeth but idk

I was so happy when I saw Flemeth in Dragon Age 2. Just started playing the game today. But what she is.. I have no idea. She's an interesting character indeed.
