I will take a guess and say that most of the people that don't like the Talon using Cain mines, are playing bronze/silver/gold On those difficulties everything works, there is no need to spam Cains.

Random games on plat, you can usually assume 2 of the people will suck, so using a Talon and spamming Cains is typically necessary, just like using a GI or TGI.

Maybe you can carry gold waves with sh**ty kits, but I wouldn't even want to considering the time it takes. I go into random gold/plat assuming I will have to carry waves, and I am usually not let down.

Why does everyone here talk like the Talon doesn't regenerate grenades? You can get one back... What, every 15 seconds with the right build? They burn a lot less consumables than most grenade-spam classes in G/P play.

fair enough I guess. But there's few things I hate more than a Talon thinking he has to carry everyone by spamming Cain mines when he doesn't. It's the equivalent of someone using a missile launcher on enemies that are almost dead.

I'm constantly getting thrown into games with Talons who just spam their grenades into crowds of enemies and just about everything else, every Talon I have played with has done this and nothing else as a main offensive. An I the only one getting this?

Yeah, the only thing worse is vanguards charging all the time (wtf?), QMEs spamming arc grenades (like the sparklies do ya?), furies running around spamming throw (ever heard of shooting your gun?), krolords smashing only electrical hammer non-stop, and what really really sucks is those HM-less geth troopers, I mean all they do is flame things constantly!

Um, OP, Cain mines are supposed to be spammed by Talons. It's their main damage output.

Even despite his squishiness, I'm starting to really like this character. Those mines are just amazing.

The other classes are not "sh**ty kits." They're just not "hold your hand, cloak/dmg boost, super-crutch, grenade-spammy, lol godmode."

I WISH I could do that. Seems whenever I plant a mine enemies just look at it and walk away shaking their heads.

Again, this is assuming I will have to carry people, which is usually the case in random gold/plat matches. I prefer my games to be around 30 minutes max, so taking one of these "hold your hand" kits just makes sense. Sure, there are plenty of other kits that could be used, but I don't care how good you are, without high DPS, the match is going to drag.

In the unlikely event I ran into a decent lobby, I might make an adjustment, but those are few and far between.

My point is, you see a lot of Talons spamming Cains because they need to. Most random players are not very good at killing things (or not getting sync killed) on gold/plat.

Talon is one of th few kids that does better if your group sucks.  With friends I often find myself stuck mining chokepoints which is kinda hit or miss. Wtih bad tean, you get large clusters of enemies you can just bomb to hell and back.

You gotta give BW credit.  They made an interesting, well balanced kit kit without nerfing the heck out of it for being anywhere close to as good as an infiltrator.

As opposed to trying to legit use Cain Mines on vertical surfaces instead of the ground, where they will inevitably hit a bump, and tilt upward on inward at some god forsaken useless angle.

That's good, you should ALWAYS assume you have to carry people in PUGs. However, that shouldn't prevent you from playing the multitude of wonderful classes in this game. Challenge yourself; have some fun. I would quit today if I felt forced into constantly playing cheesy classes.

Learn the beauty of the Arc pistol Asari Vanguard, the destruction of the FQE, the power of the Kishock TSent, and the ferocity of the Claymore Drellguard. Sure, they may require more finess and output less than the "hold left-click TGI," but they can still dominate the game and carry PUGs. Try "sh**ty kits," they may surprise you, and you may surprise yourself.

That's probably the main thing keeping me playing right now: taking kits or builds I've never played for one reason or another and learning how to play them effectively on Gold.

Yes, that must be it.

You should read slower.

Those arrow powers may not be too powerful, but if you combine the heavy melee and the arc pistol( or any other charge based weapon) with it you can do wonders in terms of damage. Its that autolock, charge your weapon, lock on to the enemy with your heavy melee, and you can fire them both off at the same time. You will barely ever miss, and if your close enough you can get headshots with that lock on. Its very fun.

"Spam Cain mines into groups of enemies."

I'm guessing the group of enemies died.....horribly. You would prefer they take a much slower approach to killing things?

I also thought that the goal was to kill the bad guys as fast as possible.  I must have been playing the wrong game for the last 14 months.

That's what I like to hear, brother. Incase you haven't tried them:

Arc Pistol Asari Vanguard: A charge arc pistol does massive damage. It can one shot a phantom if spec'd correctly. Use statis cheese to make it happen. Plus you have charge to keep you alive and power up your lift-nades. Take an smg secondary and enjoy.

Kishock Turian Sentinal: The Kishock is probably the 2nd best sniper in the game. On host of course.

1) Ignores shield-gate (OSKs anyone?)
2) Ignores armor penalty (can't pierce though)
3) No hip fire penalty
4) Can be fired uncharged
5) Charging causes MASSIVE damage + bleed
6) Extremely lightweight (great for casters)
7) Low power scope (great for CQC)

Weapon spec TSent w/no fitness, extended barrel + ammo capacity and Incendiary rounds (sometime warp).

---Overload: Strip shields and stagger enemies for OSKs. Fire a shot into a crowd, then overload for firesplosions!

----Warp:
Great for weakening armor, detonating fire explosions/biotics, and of
course incendiary DOT cheese! If using warp ammo, it can double up the
damage. Also, can be tossed at phantoms to proc the bubble for headshot
kills....if they still live, overload for a fire explosion!

I work and have a life. I don't have time to master lesser kits so I can "be different" on gold/plat (mostly platinum). My enjoyment is extracting and getting credits. I can pretty much insure that with a Jug, Demo, GI, TGI, AIU or Talon. That's 6 kits I can switch between, which is more than enough diversity for me. Remember, we are talking about the random gold/plat aspect. I also speed run, solo (for challenges) and play silver when I want to screw around with new kits/set-ups.
