 Hey Guys,
so heres the problem, My pc crashed pretty hard ( i needed to replace my motherboard among other things) but i saved my progress on my module on a flash drive as well as all the hacks and what not, Well i replaced all my hacks now that my pc is fixed, but when i try to open the movie clip file (what my module saved as which is 99,000 kb), my toolset starts to load it then instantly opens a temp file instead (Temp1, 2... depening how many times i try to open the file). I've tried to manualy copy and past the module into the temp folder and save it, then try to reopen this file but there is nothing inside even though it says its taking up 99,000kb.  Any ideas?

well - it isnt a movie clip file as windows thinks it is, for one - it is a NWN2 toolset module file

for two, if your not opening it from the toolset - it isnt going to work

for three, havent you been tuning up you knowledge base by reading the vast amount of info relating to crashed files? "SAVE IN DIRECTORY MODE"

lastly, if you saved your .mod file since saving it, it is a corrupted save now

search the forums for threads about recovering corrupt .mod files - i read somewhere that tanita's packer can extract the data squished together in there - or something like that....

All of the above that Morbane said is true.  Always save NWN2 modules in directory format, turn off the evil autosave "feature", and make tons of backups of your work.

You can try to recover your work by unpacking the .mod file using the NWN2 Packer Tool available on the vault.  Open it with that tool and extract them into a new folder you have created in your NWN2 MyDocs directory.  Then in the toolset, open the newly created directory and see if all the areas open.  Then from then on, save the module in directory mode.

Yes, do what Mokah says. That method has worked for me. For clarification, put the extracted files in a newly created folder in the MODULES folder of your NWN2 MyDocs. And choose "open directory" (or words to that effect) from within the toolset.
