Woops, forgot to actually write the question.

Anyway, when Balak kills Kate's brother, why didn't she say that it was Shepard shutting down the torches? I don't see any reason not to.

Because she knows that her brother's life and her life aren't worth as much as the 4.4 million people on Terra Nova. People that will die if Shepard doesn't succeed at shutting down the torches.

Sure but it still is a good question. What difference would it have made? ME1 Shepard wasn't that well known yet and even if he was, she might have even scared them. In any event, it wouldn't have given the Batarians any advantage to know who it is. And Shep's plan was clear to the Batarians already anyway, it's not like it involved a lot of finesse.

Well every batarian probably knows shepard, at least any batarian worth their salt.

Plus he was the first human specter so.

Colonist Ruthless Shepard was probably as infamous with the Batarians as Saren. She already knew ahead of time that Colonist Ruthless Shepard was not going to let Balak get away.

By not telling Balak who was doing the work probably bought Shepard time. If Balak knew it was Colonist Ruthless Shepard, he'd have known right then he was toast, and probably just killed Kate and the others on the spot and tried to escape immediately. But figuring it might be just an Alliance patrol, he figured he might stand a chance. He was wrong. Dead wrong.

"'Cheaper labor.' he said. A bunch of goddamned terrorists, I said." -- Zaeed.

"Sounds like Vido has to die." Shepard said.
"Glad you see it my way." Zaeed said.

No wonder Zaeed and Shepard got along so well.
