Who is Gaider and why is he important?

Dragon Age's lead writer.

So why is this important?

Well, I'm a huge fan of the Dragon Age series, and it was interesting to discover that the lead writer chose an ending that is reviled by many. I was motivated to discuss the "grayness" of the endings.

sorry but what is dragon age

He's not a paragon of taste all the time or anything. Or one of nature's gifts to writers and man.

But not everyone has my fabulous SPECIFIC PREFERENCES, so I guess that's ok. *stroke imaginary mustache*

We're not toxic...
The overwhelmingly positive reaction to the Citadel DLC proved it...

The ending is toxic...
It turns the player into a complete monster no matter what you do, with Synthesis being by far the worst offender...

The fact that he was upset that Shepard can save both makes me a little less inclined to become interested in Dragon Age. From what I've heard, that Templer vs. Mage decision didn't fly so well for him.

Or is it a fact? He's spoken quite a bit about how people have quoted him out of context and whatnot.

QFT.

Though I hesitate to call any given ending the "worst"  They're all really bad.

Yeah. It does. There's a very big problem if all the writers find Synthesis great and players find it either stupid or repulsive. This is not a choice between strawberry or vanilla, it's a choice that concerns very important themes of the story.

I understand Gaider isn't part of the Mass Effect team, but it would be foolish to think that influence isn't going to be passed between the two teams.

As I said earlier:

As long as he doesn't decide to optimal solution to solve the mage-templar conflict is to forcibly turn everyone on Thedas into abominations, does his preference in ME3 really matter?

He's a game dev. I'm curious as to why he would choose synthesis when there was no reason to do so especially when one considers that it is not restricted only to advanced organics and EDI since the Geth were dead in his game. It would affect creatures like that eagle in that picture I posted. It would become part synthetic. His choice made no sense.

Yep. Guess he's evil?

See, that's the biggest failing of these endings. No matter what you pick, someone will think you're evil. That does not help the fanbase.
