Synthesis doesn't make much sense from a role-playing perspective. Why would my Shepard choose to "fix" all life in the galaxy if his original long term goal was to save them?
Synthesis saves them and more. It advances everyone in the galaxy to a stage three civilization.
We don't know if Synthesis is even necessary. The cycle just got broken.
It is necessary if you believe it is necessary. If you don't, then there are three other options. That's why they gave us choice.
I meant necessary for advancement. Breaking the cycle alone would be a step forward for the galaxy.

Two other options. Refuse doesn't break the cycle.
HA! You are wrong! Refuse does break the cycle! I've got you now!
The next cycle eliminates the Reapers. They destroy them. We fought a terrible war so they don't have to.

Many arguments are ignored here. Pointing it out won't change anything. You're probably wrong in some way anyway.

It was just winning the argument on principle. He said refuse doesn't break the cycle. He was incorrect. I MEHEM now. I used to Destroy.

...I'm not going to trek back through twenty pages and try to figure out which argument he considered valid. I don't know which point he is refering to. He posts here rather frequently. The goal was to goad him into clarifying.
Note the word "probably." Fantastic little thing. Lets me rattle a reaction out of people while still being able to say "Okay, that was actually a pretty good point." if it happens to be so.
Settle down a bit.

It does break the cycle, but, wait for it, you have no idea at all if the end scene is the NEXT cycle.
You assume, but that scene could have been 10 cycles down the road. Or more.

You died. You lost. Game over. You failed.
The next round broke the cycle. With Glyph's help, of course, but the fact remains that you had the chance and failed to capitalize, leaving someone else to pick up the slack. They did it, not you. If you consider that victory, that's your game, but I can't.
