What is the best or at least really good kit and strategy for getting the staggering one million points needed for the melee portion of Combat Mastery?

1M points is a lot but its not as daunting as it seems.  The krogan sentinel or warlord are good classes as is the kroguard.  The Shadow can work as well.

However, it takes a little adjusting but a GI specced for melee damage is one of (if not the) strongest melee kit in the game.

Drell Adept for Grenades criteria , N7 Shadow or AIU for everything else.

Just run Krolord or Kroguard solo against geth. The higher the difficulty, the faster you'll complete it.

Kroguard all the way. Pick a light shotgun such as the Disciple and put an omniblade on. Spec Rage for melee damage and use your melee consumables/gear. A cyclonic modulator helps a lot, you can do it solely on gold against geth or against any faction on silver. Soloing silver with this build will be no problem and you can get around 80k points per match this way.

Krosent, GI and Shadow are good options too but Kroguard's charge and tankiness will keep you alive in tight situations.

Jugger will get you there in no time, and couldn't be easier to do it with.

1 million melee points is not that hard to achieve. I'm on my third DoW and the only thing that kept me from getting it in February was the grabs.

Krogans, vorcha, armiger turians, most infiltrators, PhoGuard, BatGuard, and the list goes on.

Kroguard is probably the easiest. Here's a build that will maximize your changes of getting melee kills (vs. gun or power damage kills).

I always use the Kroguard, geth/silver/solo...almost over 100k melee points per game and about 20+ grabs easily. So works for both melee points as well as grabs, I prefer the Vancouver map for this. :)

Gold/Glacier Melee GI or GTFO. If it's too hard find a buddy to shield boost you.

Did mine with Krosoldier/sentinel, but now we have the KroLord so that's probably your best bet for pure melee. U/U/G will grant you more points than playing saay Geth/Glacier EZ mode.

Talon Merc specced for max Omni-Bow damage. No, really.

Nevermind, you'll get melee medals but damage doesn't go toward combat mastery.

In that case I'd use the Asari Huntress melee build and Asari-gasm everything to death.

First time, I started with a Krogan, but finished with a GI. Now, I'd recommend a Juggy in Plat. You'll have it done in no time...

Except for the dying part.  Good kit, crazy build but requires a certain level of player skill.  I.e. ymmv.

I am tempted in trying a Huntress melee build. I can say using a Havoc for meleeing is pretty fun as well. Havoc strike then heavy melee all non sync killers.

Sounds amusing, but is it effective? Why give up AOE heavy melee for a slow, single-target punch?

I can't recommend it enough. It's a lot of fun and it's very effective and she's versatile enough to deal non-Melee damage when it's unsafe to melee.

Cloak, warp, crazy melee.  Pretty fun, if a little dangerous at times.

There is the quarian female infiltrator sabotage cheese as well.  I forget who posted the original breakdown, but tech vulnerability was working with her melee.  This was several months ago, so not sure if it is still working this way.

Kroguard and BatGuard are good, Charge let's you get into melee range fast rather than having to run around after the enemies. Juggernaut is also good, already got Melee Damage 1 & 2 thanks to him and melee was always the last to be completed for my previous DoW completions
