If you try to play towers of Hanoi in the arcade he just says "Towers of Hanoi? I don't think so".

Why?

It's BioWare poking fun at themselves since they've had the Towers of Hanoi puzzle in quite a few games. Jade Empire, KOTOR, Mass Effect, and the Old Republic.

On the Citadel DLC. In the arcade. There's a game called towers of Hanoi and he refuses to play it.

It's the puzzle Shepard had to solve to get Mira working in ME1 on Noveria, either that or fix it with 100 medi-gel.

Ok thanks, I never played ME1, only 2 and 3.

David7204 called it. The thing's only in there as an in-joke to Bio fans.

I've been waiting for someone to bring this up.
*ahem*
Towers of Hanoi is a type of puzzle that involves the rearranging of tiered, colored blocks so that they all form homogenous, properly stacked towers. A very tame version of this puzzle was introduced in ME, as a means of reactivating the Noveria VI, Mira (an alternative means of activation required 100 Omni-gel). Apparently, the puzzle is kind of frustrating, and at the time, some players didn't know what to do. It didn't help that the sequence was mandatory and, if encountered early enough in-game, people simply didn't have the omni-gel. So, it was kind of a pain at the time, and that line was a very subtle joke about it.

Edit: MAH THUNDAH, IT WAS STOLENDED!

The puzzle also appears in KotOR, Jade Empire, and TOR. I also recall playing it in NWN1, but that may have been a fan mod

It's in SWTOR too in one of the raids. My friends always have me directing. Heh. It's a pretty easy game. We used to do it back when we were in like.. preschool. Something about purple gorillas. :D

It's a long running joke from way back in the day when Bioware loved using the puzzle.

It does seem like the sort of thing he'd do.

I remember writing a computer program which could solve the Towers of Hanoi puzzle regardless of how many rings are in the stack. It's a pattern. Like tic-tac-toe, once you grasp the rules, it's the same thing every time.

Exactly, it was a p.i.t.a. in ME1, so it's funny, get it, no, oh well.

It's not very hard and it made a change to have a part where you needed to think instead of shoot.
