Which makes one wonder why Bioware set ME3 up like that in the first place.

Probably because the ME series has had a persistent trend of incentivising/rewarding players for completionism in a way that Dragon Age does not?

If you import a Shepard who completed the various collection sidequests in ME1, reached the level cap, and earned a lot of money, you get starting bonuses in ME2 and also unlock specific extra content (minor though it might be) in both ME2 and ME3.

ME2 rewards you for doing a lot of missions that aren't acutally required to complete the game, by giving you a wealth of extra content in the form of new companions and their subsequent loyalty quests, compeltion of which in turn rewards you with the chance to acheive the "best" ending possible, assuming you measure your success by how many characters survive.

Multiplayer is just another feature, like planet scanning and loyalty quests. And like those features, it incentivizes players to try it by offering a tangible story benefit.

I wouldn't mind if the MP added additional/optional content to the SP part of the game as long as it makes sense in context to the setting. Say if you can only recruit a companion that you saved in MP would be perfectly fine with me, however, the way ME3 did it was deplorable. The MP added absolutely nothing to the SP experience and was in essence just a grind so you can get better ending.

Nope. Should be kept entirely separate.

No I don't think it should have any influence on SP. However I wouldn't mind if the MP gave bonuses that ARE NOT REQUIRED to get the best results in the story, they just give you extra reward for playing MP.

You are just creating more headaches for us moddders.. First thing every one on BSN will want is the "imba gun / sword you get with MP" to be added to SP without having to play the darn thing. -.-

If it affects the SP game in any kind of way, I won`t buy the game. Simple as that. MP screwed up ME3 for me, and I had invested alot of time into that series.

It should definitely not affect the sp game at all. Hopefully they learned this from the ME problem. ME3 mp is a lot of fun and it's merits can stand on it's own without any stealthy inducement.

It was a bad idea in ME3 to link SP and MP.
Repeating that mistake would not be a good idea.
