It's been a year--a year since Shepard's story ended, including all the drama that followed. Now that Shepard's story is over, do you plan on buying the new Mass Effect game that is being developed by Bioware, Montreal? Personally, I know I'm going to be semi-interested just because, well, it's MASS EFFECT; however, I don't know whether I can really find the connection with the new cast, plus I'll always be comparing the new with the old.

I don't know whether I am ready to let go, even with Citadel, because I don't believe that Shepard recieved the appropriate send-off; Citadel, in fact, seemed to reinforce my opinion of just how much wasted potential Mass Effect 3 had. It provided elements that I believed were missing, like more character bonding, but just seemed to beg the horror of the oncoming ending, especially with Jack (her foreshadowing of destroy); I cried inside when Kaidan said that he'd be waiting for me, knowing that I would die in three of the four endings (with much ambiguity as to whether I would be rescued in destroy).

They have a lot of stories to tell in their universe, but I don't know how they could possibly make a continuation (we already know how it ends, so why make a prequel?), given that there were FOUR possible endings; it would be like making four totally different games. I definitely would want to get the new Mass Effect, but all of the DLC and micro-transactions seem really discouraging, especially since MOST of the DLC in Mass Effect 3 was story essential, like Ashes and Leviathan.

In general, I don't really like the direction that the videogame industry is going; It seems like corporate greed/pride seems to more crucial than the opinions of the consumers, but EA/Bioware is a business, so they have to make money; however, a business makes NO profit without the consumer, so I think it is wise for EA to think more about the consumer. I hope that they change their business tactics, given that their CEO just stepped down, so hopefully a more consumer-friendly person heads the corporation. My only hope for the franchise is that they actually WRITE the beginning and end before hand; I don't know about you guys, but I tend to think about how it ends after I start the story so that the plot stays coherent throughout.

So what do you guys think about Mass Effect 4 (I'm calling it ME 4 for now)? Yay/nay?

Like any other game, depends on if it looks like it's going to be any good.

I will wait and see. It might be okay. I'll see how the RPGs go with other offerings but for offering female leads Bioware is one of the few who do so color me interested.

I wont pre-order, and will wait until it's out, perhaps finding it cheaper or even second-hand. Gone are the days when I give any developer money before really having a better idea of quality, but BioWare have put themselves on my watch list.

Taking everything they say before release with a much larger grain of salt sounds like a good idea too.

faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar too early for this kind of question...

ME4 is a long way off.

Any answers will be moot. Even those that have sworn off BioWare and say they now hate Mass Effect might find that ONE hook in the news of ME4 that brings them back..or perhaps enough time will pass that they want another ME game despite not being interested at this time.

the reverse can be said about anyone that says they will.

too soon...answers are pointless

I'll probably check it out. I've loved each Mass Effect game equally so far, so I have no reason to think that I would not enjoy another one.

I've gone from "day 1 buy" to "wait and see" because of the hastily thrown together ending to one of my favorite game trilogies and the interference from corporate overlord EA.

No, until they fix the ending(s) for Mass Effect 3. I'm not holding my breath and definitely not leaving the money lying around to wait.

I plan on seeing what the customer reaction is to it. I highly doubt I'll preorder. If the customer base gives positive reviews, I'll check it out. DA2 and ME3 have changed my habit of giving BW money when they release a game.

They have to earn that trust back.

I probably will, though it won't be the same.... A sequel almost seems impossible with the different endings. A prequel seems more likely.

I don't think anything about it. There isn't enough information available to think about it.

Have they given me any reason to trust them again?

Have they told me why it would be a good idea to get invested in another character or story in this universe?

No.

Reason: ME3 ending and that it is so much "art" and that it was hyped so much, but what you get was a huge letdown.
Furthermore, the release of sim city and the overwhelming negative response concerning the new EA pay model.
You have to be online all time, the new way of distributing content (DLC) to get the full experience (60 € aren´t enough for a full prize game).
Upcoming C&C Generals 2 will be the same, only some online missions, story missions only per DLC.
I am afraid that this will be the future of games, especially those being released under EA banner and I am afraid that I have to buy content to beat the game...

So no more ME for me.

We'll see once something is actually known---time period, writers, even a title---about the game, but I'm still open to a few possibilities. BioWare do need to "sell" me pretty hard on the next installment, though.

Seeing biotic powers do their thing on that frostbite 3 engine and possibly some of the squad again?.. yes.

I would. Though I won't preorder it. Gonna wait for some reviews, and if they are somewhat positive, I will get it. If not, well I will still get it eventually, maybe couple years later, when the price go down xD

No.

The MEU might be more than Shepard & Co, but they were an important part of it, and pretty much what kept me with the series for 5/6 years.

The ending to the trilogy was a hammerblow to my confidence in BW - not to the point of never buying anything from them ever again. I'm more than willing to check out the new IP, but as far as the MEU goes, it ends with ME3 for me. I have no interest in future games in the series.

It's way, way too early to say. The next Mass Effect game hasn't even really gone into development yet, so there's really no possible way to saw if the next Mass Effect game will interest me enough to buy it. Until any at all concrete news of what the next Mass Effect game will be comes out by Bioware themselves, I can only sit here in optimism.
