I don't know whether I am ready to let go, even with Citadel, because I don't believe that Shepard recieved the appropriate send-off; Citadel, in fact, seemed to reinforce my opinion of just how much wasted potential Mass Effect 3 had. It provided elements that I believed were missing, like more character bonding, but just seemed to beg the horror of the oncoming ending, especially with Jack (her foreshadowing of destroy); I cried inside when Kaidan said that he'd be waiting for me, knowing that I would die in three of the four endings (with much ambiguity as to whether I would be rescued in destroy).
They have a lot of stories to tell in their universe, but I don't know how they could possibly make a continuation (we already know how it ends, so why make a prequel?), given that there were FOUR possible endings; it would be like making four totally different games. I definitely would want to get the new Mass Effect, but all of the DLC and micro-transactions seem really discouraging, especially since MOST of the DLC in Mass Effect 3 was story essential, like Ashes and Leviathan.
In general, I don't really like the direction that the videogame industry is going; It seems like corporate greed/pride seems to more crucial than the opinions of the consumers, but EA/Bioware is a business, so they have to make money; however, a business makes NO profit without the consumer, so I think it is wise for EA to think more about the consumer. I hope that they change their business tactics, given that their CEO just stepped down, so hopefully a more consumer-friendly person heads the corporation. My only hope for the franchise is that they actually WRITE the beginning and end before hand; I don't know about you guys, but I tend to think about how it ends after I start the story so that the plot stays coherent throughout.
So what do you guys think about Mass Effect 4 (I'm calling it ME 4 for now)? Yay/nay?
