I'm also guilty of rage-gelling if I do something stupid.
i think everyone is guilty of this. Also, when taken out by a maurader, then waiting for a revive that does not come, gel, get elbowed to death by said maurader, gel --- it's rocket time for that MF maurader!
I do this to phantoms too sometimes. I hate those guys so much. Every time I line up my headshot they do another backflip. It's terribly satisfying to just drop a rocket on them sometimes.
Yes, that i noticed!![]()
Yesterday you totally ignored the hulking atlas in front of you and nuked the poor phantom backflipping in the other direction...
Phantoms rank much higher on the threat list than an atlas to me. Atlases are slow and not terribly difficult to kill. I can gain some distance on them and take them down pretty easily. Phantoms are a pain in the butt to hit and their sync-kill is much deadlier (in that they can get closer to you quicker and they seem to do it a lot more often). Also atlases can be hacked with sabotage. Fun times.

When I reload cancel as well. If only there was another way...
I always use my tactical cloak to reload cancel on my FQI. Other kits it's gels or w/e else I might have.

When I played mostly Silver I only did randoms and the number of times that I thought
"Well there's only a couple left and there are three of them. They'll be okay. I don't need to waste a Gel." Followed by "Team Member Down" as they died one by one. Leaving me banging my head on the desk "Why don't I learn"
So unless I'm with someone I trust who says "Don't Gel" I won't bleed out deliberately, been stealth/insta-stomped a few times.

Yepp, i totally get that on an intellectual level. It´s just that whenever i rocket something, my instict takes over and yells: "Shoot the big one, ya whimp!" My brain usually takes the back seat at that moment...

Is totally understandable. Generally big things are badder. And I won't lie, rocketing big things is fun. XD When I first started playing, I probably would have rocketed the atlas for that very reason. However, the number of times a phantom has taken me down or straight out sync-killed me has finally managed to bash into my skull that phantoms are nasty and need to die. Nothing more satisfying when they stand still and put up their little shield, leaving their heads nice and still so I can pulverize it with my rifle.

1) About to pass out or be knocked out via bad guy foot/digestive juices
2) In a horrible spot where revive attempts will lead to pain
3) Down wipe, especially if I have the Medi-Gel Transmitter
4) If a nearby ally has been sync-KOed and is still glowing red, and I have the Transmitter - it actually will revive them
5) If soloing, I don't go down, I trip.

If sync kill enemy on top of me, wait
If medigel count more than 3, instagel
If wave is less than 9 and medigel count less than 3, wait for enemies to go away and play defensively
If wave 9+ and medigel count less than 3, instagel, situational
similar to this, but after wave 3, I cannot let myself be stomped, and after Wave 6, I might instagel, before getting piled on by Pyro's or similar stomp happy characters.

^this
.. I tend to avoid using gel in the first 3 waves.. Or when the wave should be almost completed...
But I have lost the count how many times I have seen the others 3 getting killed...
My desk and my head now fits perfectly :-)

2. When I'm about to get curb stomped and the wave budget isn't used up yet.
3. On accident when I get downed when reload-cancelling.
4. When the whole party wipes at almost the same instant.
5. Occasional rage-Gel.
