Not so much l33t quickscopes or whatever.
Although I'm starting to care less for rocket runs tbh. sub8 group hasn't done very many no rocket runs and I'd rather play PUGs.

So a noob can learn to speed run effectively with just a few games??

You need
- knowledge of the map and spawns
- how to use soft cover
- know when to push or when to hang back
- be able to communicate with a team

if you are going for a record you need to know how to handle tight situations and hit a phantom in the head.
that reminds me we havent attempt to get sub 12 in jade no rockets in a while.

Yup.
This was proven when people were speed-farming before Reckoning (I know... I taught several lobbies full of them). If you can follow instructions and be self-less... you can speedrun. Epeeners struggle with it more than n00bs IMO.
Developing the speed-run strategy takes skill and know-how... executing it is pretty simple.

I'd say this is true of objective waves... but not the others.

To be a casual speedrunner then it only takes a few games to learn so no.

I agree, I never cared about speedrunning (and thus do not think of myself as a good speedrunner.) but when I joined cowwy for one to "get a taste", it took very little efforts for me to understand what was going on and how to reproduce it.
Coming up with new, faster strategies is probably the only "skillfull" thing about speedrunning. You will never be threatened. Your actual gaming skill will only be needed during objective waves or if something goes wrong.
I'd say this is true of objective waves... but not the others.
Indeed.
Anyone can speed run and get ten minute times fairly consistently. But
if you want sub 9 or even sub 8 times seems like you're going to need a
good manifest, use appropriate builds, and practice/grind quite a bit.
A <8 speedrun can be achieved on a small map with armored compartment and people with rank X URs/optimized builds.
This game remains a PvE grinder, it all boils down to how long you have played.
All in all, It was both an interesting, but yet underwhelming experience which further reinforced my lack of interest for speedrunning even though I understand why people may like it and seek to always find a faster setup.
The thought process behind the creation of new strategies/setup is much more interesting than the actual speedrun.

Agree with megabeast. Formulating the strategy does take skill but really any noob can execute it once you explain it to them.

Is that why solo threads are spammed more than speed run threads???

And only like the 2 good speed running teams from XBox and PC have gone sub 8

Only record speedruns are posted, which get harder and harder to achieve, and these records are by the same group. Anyone can get sub 8/8:30, all you need is missiles, and being told where to shoot them.

The record can only be attained by the blessings of the RNG god.

I think we had a 8:10-8:20 or something speedrun, I was asked to use my GI which was only level 8. This coupled with my own inexperience makes me think that cowwy's team could probably have lowered it below 8 with a level 20, experienced player.
I don't really see the legendary feat behind having one person rocket nuking 3 waves then swapping position with another for the following waves etc.. I'm only talking about AC based speedruns.
But yeah, since I do not bring evidences, you can only have my words, so feel free to disregard what i'm saying.
Speedrunning with such time, on any map, without abusive use of AC/Glacier/missiles, I will totally respect that and recognize the skill needed to achieve it.
