Only record speedruns are posted, which get harder and harder to achieve, and these records are by the same group. Anyone can get sub 8/8:30, all you need is missiles, and being told where to shoot them.

I will repeat myself, because I get the feeling that people start to misinterpret what I'm saying.

The work required to create strategies and setups that allow always faster speedruns is what requires skill & knowledge of the game. I can understand why people like to do this and i'm not saying it's rubbish or epeen only.

The execution however is simple, and once someone has seen how to do it, it's not really difficult to duplicate (aka my own experience.).

It's not really that hard to figure out how to speedrun, this is a PvE game with predictable patterns, this means that all notions of "skill" should be carefully weighted.

People who think outside of the box will, however, come up with said techniques first. As always. All competitive speedrunners deserve credits for that. But I will not regard them like a PvP pro player.

Yes, it is that hard. First, you need to be lucky with the objectives, and then you need near perfect execution. A couple mistakes here or there and you're back over 8 minutes again. There are a lot of things that can go wrong, you got to know how to manage split spawns and how to control the spawns on objective waves. Just because you witnessed a particularly quick run and it seemed easy isn't saying much other than you were with people who knew what they were doing.

I've never done speed runs with cowwy but I've played with him and he's excellent.

I haven't soloed a full game plat on glacier but I have soloed heaps of waves on it in a PUG match. It's actually fairly easy to kite enemies. But hazard glacier is hard as feck to kite around with the bees on a squishy character

Sorry bra but soloing a partial wave here and there on glacier platinum is nothing. Glacier isnt about kiting as there's very little room for it. If you actually do attempt a plat solo on glacier you will realize how many times yer gonna have to kill quickly and with skill to reach the other side.

I agree, we had a couple other games, one had a split spawn and another had crappy objectives, time immediately bumped up to 10minutes.

But are random objectives determined by luck or skill ? Does your skill affect the odds of enemies spawning away from eachother at the same spawn point (glacier bottom, lower and upper counter), meaning that you end up using more rockets than one ?

A solo isn't all that hard either TBH, all it takes is patience to kite enemies. Formulating and improving strategies for speedruns take skill and a team only goes as far as its weakest link. If you have someone with a small amount of missiles, low level weapons, etc. they aren't going to be able to be much help in a speedrun. That same player could go into Platinum and solo it assuming they know the spawns and have the patience to kite.

I don't think Armored Compartments speedruns take a ton of skill (until you are going for record times), but no missile speedruns or even non Armored Compartments speedruns do (since you have to adjust on the fly and can't rely on missiles as much).

Way to choose the worst possible video I'm in.

I don't recall the times we got so I'm gonna go with Geist's word and say it was 8:10 or 8:20. That was when we were first trying out our new strategy and we discovered it works pretty damn well. We definitely had issues in that session though that cost us some potential sub 8 runs because of splits and things like that.

That being said I am an honorary member of the sub 8 club with a 7:54 time.

Try kiting on glacier on plat solo. You'll see how much skills you really have
