solo threads are spammed more because anyone can solo, silver solo, gold solo, platinum solo. its all personal.

I haven't soloed a full game plat on glacier but I have soloed heaps of waves on it in a PUG match. It's actually fairly easy to kite enemies. But hazard glacier is hard as feck to kite around with the bees on a squishy character

Sorry bra but soloing a partial wave here and there on glacier platinum is nothing. Glacier isnt about kiting as there's very little room for it. If you actually do attempt a plat solo on glacier you will realize how many times yer gonna have to kill quickly and with skill to reach the other side.

Not even close. Redjohn will agree on that.
A full plat solo on glacier is where the true test is. It made me grow hair on my chest;)

I wonder how many times sub 8 runs have even been accomplished. The run that broke the 8:?? record only happened maybe 5-6 week ago right? I bet the 8 minute barrier has only ever broken maybe a couple dozen times, if even that.

Those who solo platinum knows that it takes a few tries. That stream was behind the scences. I did a live stream with my valkyrie on glacier on my first attempt. I think you missed that one.

Takes about as much skill as pulling up your zipper, shaking twice when done peeing (males, although I guess females can too), drawing an uberleet map of spawn points, and reload cancelling.

So easy. Even a caveman can do it.

The execution however was not THAT hard at all and even a speedrunning "rookie" like me could follow, duplicate and contribute.

AFAIK only twice on PC have a sub 8 been done, was really close today on goddess, but was trolled on wave 1 4 and 9 lolz and wave 3 objective was meh that would have been sub 8 not sure on xbox i know they have 1 though

You can't speedrun if you're below a certain level of skill. But once you're there, you can speedrun while half-asleep, half-drunk, and playing with one hand.

as a speedrunner, i can tell you that your original comment on sub 8 is easy to get is false.

I mean if I do it sideways a few drops could hit the wall, but if shake up/downwards my pants might get messy.

I can only speedrun for so long because after a while the bs and RNG starts getting on my nerves. I usually last about an hour and a half to two hours max. I understand why some people don't find it fun, especially because you waste a lot of good consumables that could be better spent PuGging.

Also ITT: speedruns take no skill, but soloing is where all the skill is at. Just get a Kroguard and a lolreegar and you already have more skill then most people.

Well that depends what you mean my speedrunning, if, by speedrunning you mean piecing together a strategy on Goddess that allows you to actually break a record and complete Platinum in 7.22 and also allow you to consistently complete 7 Plat Games in 1 hour then yes. If by speedrun you mean rip off all of Invader's strategy guides and just shoot lotsa missiles then no.

That being said I believe speedrunning has becoming much easier. You no longer need to piece together a good strategy for two different waves (Spam Waves and Rocket Waves) because everyone has enough missiles to not give a ****. You also don't need to force secondary spawns anymore because everyone has enough missiles to not give a ****. It still takes skill to get a good 7-10 minute strategy (depending on map) but BioWare has made speedrunning so much more about objective grinding now more then anything.

Where did I say I had skill there? Sorry, but I don't have the patience to solo (I did enough for my banner back when challenges came out and it bored the heck out of me). When I play a co-op game, I am doing that to play with others.

Anyways, I know you have always disliked speedruns and that is fine by me. I personally dislike a solo and of the ones that I have done it really wasn't all that hard either. You telling me to solo Glacier is like me telling you to get a sub 11 minute Rio Platinum game. Can either of us do it? Probably. My guess is that neither of us have interest in doing what the other would enjoy, the difference is that I am not going to make a thread on BSN asking if doing a solo takes any skill.
