I've only ever used thermal clip packs on a target once because there were only two of us left standing. Maybe not a bad idea though if you get 'em to spare.

I'm not a great speed runner, so not saying I'm particularly skilled myself, but I think I've done enough of it to understand what it takes to get fast times. And you can't get sub 8 unless you really, really know what you're doing. I mean based on what Cricketer said you could probably count the total number of sub 8 speed runs ever on one hand, but there's people coming in here saying sub 8 takes no skill...yeah, okay.

I've been a part of plenty rocket runs where the objectives were good and the spawns weren't even splitting too bad, but very few only one of them even went sub 9.

I remember that yesterday we got an Escort through the basement of Glacier (where all the enemies spawn). We tried to go through the enemies without using missiles, and Ops Packs was pretty much the only way to do it. Remember, you don't only get full health/shields, but also one second of invulnerability. Still, in the end I think only one or two of us actually made it through.

If you get Targets and don't use missiles, Thermal Clip Packs is the way to go. Instant reload + 100% stackable additive weapon damage bonus shreds bosses like butter. Sometimes I use two Thermal Clip Packs in a row so I can shoot my Javelin three times in a row, second shot with 100% damage bonus and third shot with 200%.

I'm used to forcing the spawns upstairs on objectives, there not really a lot to work with in the basement. I bet I coulda made it through lol, I'm pretty slippery as it so happens

Also I abhore speedrunning. Its only true purpose is to horde credits and I see no point in that either. My stuff will unlock in time, no need to rush through things. If I did that then what would be the point in playing?

No need to rush things? The BW MP team has moved on, what do you thnk is next?

I remember I watched one of those "record breaking video"...and all I saw was a rocket spawn nuking festival, when one of those speedrunners faced the enemies without a rocket in his hands he died like 2 times in 10 seconds...an amusing level of skill...

It takes skill to develop the spawn controlling technique, but the rest is just cobra spamming festival and luck.

Yeah, I watched one of those videos as well. Dude missed like 5 shots in a row once. What a ****ing noob - I don't miss or die ever, especially not when 2 platinum phantoms on host spawn in front of me while I'm using a sniper rifle.

Speedrunning glacier in 12 minutes is the equivalent of your kroguard geth solo.

Recently I did a speedrun with a high profile bsner and a couple friends of his. A couple of them are mentioned multiple times in the greatest player thread and the result was slower than our no rocket runs.

Even spectre x guys have had trouble when things became any more complicated than just stand here while I rocket. As soon as moving and coordination were involved the run went to hell.

Bad speedruns don't take a lot of skill. Doing it right is a different story.

Ask him how that wall feels on London? It was nuked by him at least three or four times on our epic Geth London speedrun.

I really want to see one person take 3 bronze/silver players into Glacier and do a speed run and finish in less than 14 minutes (a very generous time), if "any scrub can speed run."

Yes, it does take a level of skill and knowledge to be efficient. Do you need to be elite, no.
