I don't know if it is just me but whenever I PUG and wave 11 arrives...I like to sit on the opposite side of the map with some popcorn and watch the endless fail of PUGs camping LZ...icing on the cake for every game I guess

Am I a bad guy? And if not can you relate?

Nah, you're not a bad guy. I do this all the time but sometimes I do go and revive them though

If randoms begin the dreaded LZ camp, at the start of the wave, I run toward them, then sprint away, and usually one begins to follow me, thinking I've seen an enemy they can rush. Then I run back while that first follower is looking around in confusion wondering what I'm doing, and another guy will see that half the party is in the direction I've begun running, and he comes toward me. I immediately run away again, and about half the time they chase me down. The last guy doesn't want to be left alone, so they run along, too. Soon everyone runs after me, convinced I see something I don't, and then I just park on the other side of the map and relax for a moment or two.

I learned this sort of behavior from watching sheep dogs. I'm alarmed and comforted that it works on PUGs more often than not.

Yup. Same here. My favorites are Giant and Reactor. Gives me time to grab a soda and popcorn to munch on for the fireworks about to occur in the LZ.

As usual we have a host of players that should be playing solo if they all don't give a fug about their team mates. By all means do the smart thing and hang back but to relish the rest of the teams wipe is stoopid.

C'mon man, you know that sitting on the LZ during extraction is impossible to do.  If they don't want to listen to my friendly team orient spiel about how this is a bad idea, then that's on them.

Well it's not impossible on every map.  We all know that hanging back is the best thing to do, and we all know that it is indeed on them if they fail.  However these are our team mates we are talking about here for 25 minutes or so anyway.  Don't care about the team?  Think they are all dunder heads that get in the way and are to be mocked if they do not extract?  Play solo, it will suit you better.

I got yelled at by some kid a couple days ago for running away from the extraction zone. I remember this because of the way he spoke, at first it was comprehendible, then slowly devolved into something strange.

“What are you doing? Whatareyoudoing? Wharoodin? Waadin? WHAADONNNNN?”

I usually don't mind wave 11s being treated as a free for all. It's kind of liberating, actually. I'll revive when possible during this wave but I'm not at all inclined to sprint to the LZ with one minute left because some clueless or stubborn player insists on staying at the LZ. Even fledgling Gold players should wise up and see where everyone else is fleeing to rather than attempt to hold the fort.

This is also a fun time to spend whatever missiles you have left, provided your overall inventory is well stocked.

Nah, you are a not a bad guy. I stay far away from the EZ and then move towards it around 25-30 seconds on the clock.

PUGs are on their own if they decide to defend the LZ. More often than not they should be fine with all the missiles and gels they hoarded in previous waves in the match. If not, tough luck.

This.

I used to try to tell folks why it was not good to rush to the LZ but after being told to go 'fun' myself I gave up on that idea.

Now, I find it rare that everyone will rush to the LZ, in a gold match, but there is always one, who, like a moth to a flame, just rushes over.

And in the case of all three PUGmates running into the LZ, well I just end up getting 'lone survivor'

Everything tends to chase after me, so I rarely get to enjoy this luxury. It's like I'm the Frank West of the team.

I get on the mic and tell everyone I'm headed to the other side of the map. If we have a jug, and he does not move, I'll stay and defend if he was a decent player. If I'm in a decent pug and make it to wave 11 they usually know not to go there. My bad pugs don't make it to 11, lol

It depends on the lz and how many decide to stay there for me . I really don't like everyone gathered in lz building a camp fire and singing songs things go wrong quickly but pure exhilaration when successful. .

It's funny... even though I know I shouldn't I feel myself getting sucked into the "Alamo Syndrome" more and more these day. Mainly because I want to see who, if anyone, will be the lone survivor!

well put...also I would like to say that I am not taking shots at PUGs because most of the time the next game we play they would have took the smart route and followed me to the back of the map on wave 11...but I just find it funny to watch them scurry in panic to survive in the LZ

Yeah, it's fun.  Once in a blue moon, you'll get the PUG who goes down, gels, and wisens up, running into your open, nurturing arms.  Even rarer are the times that a PUG will run frantically around the LZ and survive!  Precious moments that sometimes end up making it hell for you to survive extraction, since all the dangerous units are now camping the LZ and the routes to the LZ.  It's like some kind of divine PUG retribution for popcorning it gleefully all those games prior.

Funnier when you can hear them over the mic xD

Though there is the rare occasion where I think "**** it!" and join them, can be quite fun.

I can relate.

Had a horrible game yesterday, the PUGs I were with simply couldn't stay alive. I soloed the last three rounds, essentially, and then, after watching them all immediately rush to the LZ, decided to go to the other side of the map. Had to kill a single dragoon all wave, while they were dancing with Phantoms and Atlases in the LZ.

Thank you team mates, your heroic efforts to ensure my Lone Survivor status were not in vain.

Apart from on Reactor, Rio and Giant, I dont see a lot of LZ zerg rushes nowadays though. Those three maps seem pretty bad for it, though at least Giant's is pretty defensible for the right team, and on Rio it prevents enemies spawning behind you. Seems PUGs are generally learning, when it comes to that particular error.
