Given that DA and ME games are rated mature, I have to assume that most people posting here are adults.  I'm continuously surprised when they act like teenagers when it comes to discussing the issue.  There is nothing wrong with sex and nudity with an adult audience.  If we want more realistic and compelling characters, sex and/or nudity will come up occasionally.  I don't think anyone is asking for gratuitous sex.  Like I said, I think the Witcher 2 pulled it off the best with that great scene of Triss and Geralt in the bath.

Agreed. I admit to feeling annoyed with the fade to black fans. That wish makes no sense to me. Maybe they should't be playing rated M for mature games and would be more comfortable with the G rated stuff.

I don't get the options that says I don't want to see M/M romance scenes or F/F romance scenes. Wouldn't the people who didn't want to see those types of situations just play through the game as a straight PC?

Now, to the question at hand, peole who want nudity in games often don't want it for the love scenes at all.  I insist that DAO benefitted tremendously from nude mods even if the player never romanced anyone.  Finding Cailan's body in Ostagar was a much more moving scene with nude mods, as Cailan's nude form lacks the dignity of his modestly covered form in the unmodded game.

Moreover, the piles of corpses in Fort Drakon appear far more barbarous if those corpses are nude.

That's an excellent point that's often overlooked - nudity can be a very effective story device even in a non-sexual context.

Yeah... I wouldn't really call the Cailan scene more "moving" if he's nude, given that he's also quite clearly happy to see you. Until certain difficulties with animation are resolved, either sex scenes with men or non-sex scenes with men are going to look absurd with nudity on.

Haha, that's also true - I admit that I use the "clothed prisoners" mod with the "natural bodies" nude mod for that reason! XD

Haha, not exactly what I was saying.  I meant why are we as adults looking at things from the perspective of teenagers?  Yes, young guys can often think of little else besides the fact that the girl sitting next to him in class would look great in her birthday suit....  And they may not realize (at the time) there's a lot more to dealings with girls than that.  They're just looking for a lay.

That, of course, is not what I'm looking for in video games.  The point I was making is that why does everyone assume wanting sex and nudity in games expressly confirms the above is what we're looking for?!  I think most would agree that the prostitutes in TW2 are far less compelling characters than Triss.  Yet those scenes with Geralt add a more realistic depth to her character.

It has little to do with the morality police and even in their own words about "taste" showing out and out nudity can be a bit distasteful and probably won't be done.

I am surprised it is so split with a slight lean towards less nudity than more.

I'm guessing you think Geralt to be rather shallow then, since the man never takes off his pants.

It honestly makes my day when people hold up TW2 (a game that I thoroughly enjoyed) as a mature example of how to do nudity in games. The whole "boobies are great, wee-wee's are gross"-vibe in that game can really only be called mature by anyone who is... Um.. Well, whom I don't agree with.

But now that I have you guys here, how does that work?? Did you not notice that she's naked and he's wearing pants? Is it a practical issue, where you reckon it's at least easier for the poor guy to grind a hole in one pair of pants rather than two sets of underware? I'm honestly curious because I see this all the time in this discussion, and I don't get it.

On topic, just fade to black. Sex in games can probably be awesome if done right, but I'm betting it won't be and doing it wrong just makes the whole thing look silly.

Anyone saying full on nudity during sex scenes is silly, that would make the game AO and Bioware would never do that.I think maybe some butts and boobies is enough as long as it's done in a mature fashion. The way you phrased your poll is gonna have people crying to "check your privilege" etc. etc. For better or for worse Bioware is clearly going to continue with their (personally) overbearingly gay romances and with that the same nudity levels will be included for them (rightfully so).
