Let's settle this once and for all and see where this forum stands on nudity with a poll.

But, oh well, I -do- understand why it's usually up to gamers to make nudity possible through mods.
As for issues with naked characters of specific gender... well, it can be resolved quite easily, in my opinion. Just make it an option. Trying to pursue gay relationship, but seeing naked man makes you squick? Disable nudity. Same for lesbian and straight relationships. Problem solved. This way those who want nudity can have it and those who don't can avoid it. Everyone happy (or not; probably not).

Depends which mod you use. I never use the more... enthusiastic nude mods for exactly this reason.Xilizhra wrote...
Yeah... I wouldn't really call the Cailan scene more "moving" if he's nude, given that he's also quite clearly happy to see you.

I was ok with fade to black, I was ok with TW2's "nudity", I was ok when there was barely a kiss and I was ok when there weren't romances at all, so whatever is fine.

"Implied nudity" would serve its purpose in the romance scenes and the developers wouldn't ned to texturise the underwear.
.. If that really is a issue at all.
There isn't a need for the most "intimate bits" unless it's actual pornography in my mind.

What irks me sometimes is that this straight male homobic viewpoint gets toted about this forum as if it's the norm. Newsflash, there are loads of progressive straight guys who aren't remotely bothered by seeing two guys together.
I guess they're not afraid they're going to "turn gay" just by seeing two happy and in love guys
Given nature, I don't see at all why it would be hypocritical for a straight male to have (no) 'issues' with seeing (wo)men getting off with each other. However, reflecting this point of view in the poll options is not considered, and I understand why you criticizes this.
What I don't understand is how you can take the moral high ground when you state, multiple times, that having a 'problem' with (the idea of) men being intimate implies being homophobic (maybe there exists a definition for which this is true, but given your 'I don't hate straight people'-reaction on being accused of being a 'straightophobe', it is clearly not the one you use). I have an aversion for needles and the idea of someone using a syringe gives me shivers. This of course does not imply that I have an aversion for people with diabetes. Also, do you really think that all 'non-progressive?' straight males are afraid to "turn gay"??
On topic: I prefer an implementation like in ME1.

That's what mods are for.
Now, to the question at hand, peole who want nudity in games often don't want it for the love scenes at all. I insist that DAO benefitted tremendously from nude mods even if the player never romanced anyone. Finding Cailan's body in Ostagar was a much more moving scene with nude mods, as Cailan's nude form lacks the dignity of his modestly covered form in the unmodded game.
Moreover, the piles of corpses in Fort Drakon appear far more barbarous if those corpses are nude.
I always install nude mods when available because underwears really get on my nerves (esp. when they look like weird diapers for adults). For that matter, Daggerfall had it just right.
And it is true that Cailan's scene and Fort Drakon take a whole other dimension then (with the "not so happy" version of the mod). Not mentioning the scene in Sacred Ashes when you're supposed to walk through the fire after having shed everything material.

Lol, but it's really awkward thinking that they don't use nude models, but they don't have any problem in showing tons of blood and corpses cuted into pieces

Hateful wording in this poll. Nevertheless, I chose "fade to black."
How's it hateful? I tried to include every option I could think off.
You have a 'guy on guy is icky' option.
And? All possible options like I said, believe it or not some people don't want to see homosexuality in the game, the poll is there if anyone wishes to express it anonymously and if you're curious, I voted for option 5.
You did not even say "hetero sexual only, no homosexual." You specifically said "two guys." That is ignoring the fact that there could be two women and also implies that two guys are, as sandal said, "icky."
Just a little bias showing, that's all.
I wrote straight only. Last I checked woman on woman isn't straight.
You are right, however a lot of porn featuring lesbian scenes are there for the male gaze. Yes some of it is created by women with women in mind, but a large amount of it can be considered straight porn. Chances are if lesbian sex shows up in media such as mainstream movies, video games, comics, and TV shows, it's there for the straight (or bisexual) dudes.
Oh I love when the BSN gets going on one of these threads...

From what I've gathered, people want other "experiences" to blend into one pot. Desensitization will give rise to pornography in the deceptive form of videogames. Not saying it's a new thing though, but may become a standard in the future.Dobbysaurus wrote...

Is not Bioware's fault though.. I can buy the animations below for $9 on DAZ3d, but if I wanted to show "cowgirl" sex animations I would have to animate the 3D models myself, there are no ready made sex anims for sale - granted, I don't look for those

Even in Second Life, where there is Kama Sutra work available for free and very - VERY - realistic body models and bits
Any gaming company that wanted to provide realistic nudity and sex in game would have to basically build it from scratch, using time and resources that could be used to make more dungeons or sexier armor / weapons / areas.. To me is a no brainer wherre I want RPG single player devs spending their time: not in sex anim / texturing but in gmae mechanics and story.
