Indeed. I'm so sick of people always seeing nudity as inherently sexual. Sex is sex, nudity is nudity. They are not related unless you want them to be. Is it sexual for a parent to change a baby's diaper because there's nudity involved? Absolutely not. How about your sister taking her top off at a beach, is that sexual? It shouldn't be. What about a 7 year old boy with nothing on blow the waist, is that sexual? No. Can nudity be sexual? Yes. Is it ALWAYS? No.
People need to stop seeing sex within nudity.

Let's settle this once and for all and see where this FORUM stands on nudity with a poll.
The FORUM, since that's what is always debated about.
You're not even going to get a statistically significant amount of the forum to vote.
Do you know how many people are registered on these forums? Thousands and thousands.
And even the ones that debate the subject in THIS forum alone, your numbers very likely won't be significant.
Add that to what some are claiming is a biased poll and your data has very very little use.

I, for one, am pleased to finally see this settled once and for all with a poll.
People who get off on digital characters having sex, I guess. They care more about this stuff than gameplay. I was talking to another member on here the other day and she said she wouldn't buy the game if romances were dropped. Personally, I think Bioware should stop making RPG's and just do digital interactive soap operas. It seems like that's what they want to do, anyway.Darth Brotarian wrote...

Please don't give them any ideas. I think one of the writers got into a huge **** storm cause she actually wanted that.

For me, and this is my personal opinion and not BioWare's opinion, I have never seen the need for nudity in video games, especially BioWare's video games.
I do understand the argument that "if you are going to show someone in a situation where they should be naked, then they SHOULD be naked" and I actually agree with this. It drives me nuts in a movie or TV when someone walks out of a shower and they are, say, conveniently wearing a bathing suit for some reason. It is jarring and, more importantly, makes no sense.
However, there are all sorts of ways that a game can be written where you don't have to show naked bodies. I have always been more tantelized by the suggestion of nudity and a wish that I could see what was "behind the curtain" rather than having it thrownat me directly in my face (so to speak). If you want to take off someone's armor it makes sense to me that they have underwear on under it (even leather armor chafes somethign terrible). Now, if you want to take off the underwear for whatever reason, well... I don't think that is a feature we would include. There is plenty of nudity on the internet if you want to find it. We can find better ways to make our games interesting without needing to have to rely on this.
Was she the writer who said if it was up to her she'd remove all gamplay and just have story and romance? If so, I don't think she should be in the GAMES industry, you know... where they make GAMES.TheBlackAdder13 wrote...

That would be like becoming a movie writer when you don't like movies. It's just stupid and you'll probably end up ruining some poor guy's movie with your uninspired writing.

Well Mr. Priestly has spoken. We're not worthy. I am afraid that Bioware opened a huge can of worms when they decided to put sex in ME and DA . It's really too late to backpeddle without seriously disenchanting a large portion of the fanbase and I believe it would kill the franchise and might even kill Bioware . The romances are important to what seems to me to be a large section of fans, see the ME romance thread that was shut down to see what I mean. I feel it's a mistake to say those fans can just watch porn .Porn can be pretty nasty and offensive and it lacks the subtlties of true romance . So Bioware opened the door to this and to shut the door imperils the success of DAI imo.
Sylvius the Mad wrote...
Much of DAO's design suggests that there was supposed to be nudity in it, but then the nudity was covered at the last. The first released clip of a desire demon showed her with exposed nipples. When asked about that, David Gaider said "it's not like we don't show nipples elsewhere, so whatever." (I'd link to that post if the old BioBoards were still up).
So I'd hardly say that BioWare has traditionally aimed to avoid it - I think they aimed directly for it with DAO, and then took it out at the last minute.
Chris's comments apply neatly to romantic scenes, but I still think corpses can be more affecting set decorations if they are naked. Again, I point to Cailan in Ostagar, and the heaps of bodies in Fort Drakon.
But, in the end, if BioWare doesn't include these features, that's what mods are for.
