Eh, I make full use of both. I use the AI until someone does something stupid...*thinks back to Baldur's Gate 2* "Korgan, stop staring at the wall and attack the enemy that is RIGHT BEHIND YOU!"

...Eheh, hopefully the AI is better this time. ;P

If the game is indeed as difficult as most reviewers sofar have claimed, then puppet mode seems a must for me.

I don't enjoy micro managing my team, but apparently I'll have to. Me telling them to go for cover means duck behind whatever I 'pointed' at for a second or two, then rush the enemy to blast them point blank range...You know because that's what sniper rifles are for I guess. Way to go Garrus.

In the PS3 version, you pretty much have no choice but to use tactics.

Depends on the difficulty of the game. If you win no matter what you or your party members do, then AI is just fine. The AI tends to be unreliable in other cases.

This. I only take a hands on approach when a combat is significant enough to warrant it. If my party is facing mooks they can kill blind in melee, I let AI take over.

That.

More so on Rouge as i'm too busy geting behind enemies to babysit my nublet team mates

Micromanagement of the entire party is the only way to beat this game. AI is incredibly stupid. Sure, enemy AI as well, but enemies have the advantage of numbers, so you need the advantage of a human brain controlling the battlefield. I disabled tactics for all party members, setting their AI to "cautious" and "wait on any enemy", so basically all party members are in puppet mode. It's difficult to control an entire party, so I recommend you use just one character to fight, while all others just take the support roles (casting buffs and other supplementary spells).

lol errr for you sure, i and i'm certin many others have beaten the game numerious times use'n the companion AI and the tactics system, but then again i'm more familar with the tactics system from FF12 (bland game but still same exact system, works just as well as DA)

I always set up Tactics carefully then just control my character directly. The Companions follow their tactics. With some characters, I'll create a second set of Tactics for boss fights and switch them over when I need to. Works fine.
