On a side note I never really considered until now how in love the ME1 devs were with damsels in distress. Every female squadmate is recruited after having to be rescued.

Ouch. I never noticed that either. Nice catch.

Yeah but I would just laugh at that and shake it off.

Again, it needs to have substance and some base in reality.

A lion does not concern himself with the opinions of a sheep.

Being what I do, I take comedy very seriously. Kind of backwards-sounding when I put it that way.

That would be like walking up to a professional (gridiron) football player and saying "lol f*g rolling around on top of guys". It's just malicious and spiteful, on top of being flat-out juvenile and devoid of any real thought.

They're just characters from a game. Not really reality in the first place.

Life's too short to hardly take anything seriously these days.
When you're old and dying, you're going to wish that you had been more laid back and enjoyed life for what it was. Rather than what it wasn't.

In the case of Ashley, Tali, and Liara, their first encounters with Shepard also with having their lives saved by him or her. Considering they owe their lives to Shepard, being a little a bit in awe is understandable.

Good catch, I didn't notice that until now either, that most LI females are recruited in one kind of rescue mission or another. The more the reason to call this Trilogy a "romantic story" because its (or it used to be) the average romantic-minded guy's dream come true; to find his bride by first rescuing her.

One of the thing I loved about Jack was that she wasn't worshiping Shepard like all the other LIs do. She'll call you a **** on the very first encounter whereas the others will just gloss over him. Her romance always felt more natural to me as she loves Shepard the human being, not Shepard the first Human Spectre and Saviour of the Citadel.

I wouldn't say all the other LIs worship Shep.

Miranda, for one, pretty much says **** off without the exact words and then doesn't show much interest til after Shepard proves himself.

As far as Tali, Liara, Ash, and Kaidan, they're a bit more star-struck it's true, but they fought along Shepard before he was the Savior, so I give them more slack for adoring a hero they worked with rather than a title "Savior of the Citadel" they had never met before. I wouldn't say Steve worships Shep immediately either...

Shepard freed Jack, saved her life from the guard that was behind her and by offering her a way out of Purgatory as it was breaking down.

Miranda still had admiration for Shepard before even meeting him, she was just keeping her Ice Queen persona. Listen at the beginning and around 13:45, she sounds a bit in awe by Shepard.
I also feel that she is possesive of Shepard considering the whole Lazarus Project although that might be too many FanFictions influencing my judgement.

People whine that Jacob's romance scene is like a cheap porno yet I don't see how Miranda's is much better.

The Jack and Tali romances are so beyond f*cked up in concept and execution that it's not even funny.

I mean, all ME romances are messed up to some degree (and most BioWare romances in general), but special award goes to those two right there.

Shout out to everyone about to get mad at me for this post.

Jack was overall irritating for me in ME2. I play femshep so a romance perspective doesn't really apply to me, though the tats bothered me more than the shaved head. Personal opinion there. That being said, Jack's turn-around for ME3 was a pleasant surprise. Jack still had the spunk, but losing the over the top rage and hostility was wonderful.

Her rage and hostility weren't "over-the-top." If anything they were unrealistically minimal.

That didn't take long either. She's not that different from everyone else.

People who get mad when someone voices their opinion via the internet shouldn't be on the internet.

Indeed. I'm not a fan of unwarranted insults, although it is hilarious how people react to different opinions.

More like depends on the person and how they take things. Humans often let their emotions get in the way of conversations or "debates".
And I put that in quotations because the vast majority of debates on the internet are meagerly done.

Nah, son. It definitely depends on the "opinion." The Internet isn't divorced from our offline reality (a fact often obscured by terms like "real life"), so whereas it's silly to get angry over trivial matters, having an emotional response to ideas that are expressed, or the manner in which they are being expressed, is to be expected. If someone says some wild, horrible bullsh*t (as people are wont to do), that's a reflection of that particular individual, not the person getting angry. Suffice it to say that if your basic sense of empathy and propriety are entirely contingent upon whether or not you experience consequences, you're probably wasting air.

But I'm going to stop derailing now, because I'm not trying to get banned. Again again

Son? Female here.

All I'm saying is that it is completely pointless to get angry at a person via the net. Humans get angry differently. Some people ought to grow some tough skin and learn to not take things so damn seriously all the time. They can voice all the opinions they want, and I'll continue to shrug it off. They're just people behind a screen, judging a life they cannot change.

"Son" is gender neutral in this context. Like "girl" or "dude."

That depends on what's done with the anger. And for reference, I'm not talking about the sort of opinions concerning fictional characters.

People easily confuse me as male thus I went ahead and corrected for just in case.

I'm not talking opinions of fictional characters either. I mean in general. From what I've seen, most people that get cantankerous via the net usually say/type things that are direct insults. Trying to push their anger upon another. Or they'll entirely drop the "debate" or whatnot and just leave because they become immersed in discomfiture.

I've been on the internet for a long time. And over time I've learned that most people who try and start exiguous arguments are just bored and have nothing else better to do. Or maybe they're just insecure and want to feel like a big boss. Whatever the reason is, don't get petulant. What are they to that being?

They shouldn't let them get to them.

Iv'e always liked women with short hair. Shaved hair works just as fine.
