I'd go out on a limb here and state that there isn't a single squadmember (of those who actually speak about it) who didn't have any traumatic events in their past to some extend. That's what adds the required dramatic depth.

Liara.

And if he counts, then Legion as well.

No, Legion doesn't count ;)

Hmm, you might have got me there with Liara. But I suppose growing up the child of one of the most famous Asari matriarchs and without a father, couldn't have been that much of a breeze as well.

edit: By the way, I agree that Miranda had a rather traumatic childhood. I just don't understand why being fond of one character automatically seems to require trashing all the "competition" as well.

Indeed, I just started this forum because of the surprisingly low support for Jack as an LI. Look at my "Straight Maleshep Romance Ending" poll for details.

Honestly i liked her better in ME2 with her shaved head and all that. I just liked how she was this insecure, but seemingly hard-ass type who had some serious issues. She was a very vulnerable character, but then again, ME3 just shows how she's evolved as a character.

Which-

A). Isn't in Liara's past, and
B). Only applies if a romance is pursued

Jack actually has quite the fanbase. Look at the Jack thread over in the romance boards. It's been shutdown for a while, but I reckon it would be twice or even three times its current size had those boards remained open.

Speakin of which, those boards SHOULD BE reopened. There was no reason at all to shut them down, and groups are a pitiful way to discuss each character in-depth. These threads are technically spam.

It is the turning point in Liara's life, it made her risk her life to recover Shepard's body, she even was willing to give Cerberus a chance out of desperation. It hardened her and turned her into an information broker. I'd even say she has fully grown up between ME1 and ME2.

Whether or not she romanced Shepard is irrelevant, he/she is just as important as friend.

Assuming my Shepard (and others) considers Liara to even be a friend.

Lurking the romance forum was my favourite thing to do on BSN.

Now i just have to take character discussion when and where it arises, bonus if it ends up Jack/Legion/EDI/Morinth related.

Although we are on ME3 now, it is technically in her past.

You know full well what I meant. It's not a part of her backstory.

Not really that Liara has much of a backstory, other than "people didn't take me seriously".

Thats actually what i've thought of her most of the time. Mainly because she is incompetent.

But yes, their life before shepard, she hasn't any obvious traumatic events.

Oh, so Liara should rather have left your Shepard to the collectors then?

I don't see what this even remotely has to do with Liara's lack of a traumatic backstory.

I also don't see the correlation between this and Shepard being Liara's friend.

Liara's Pro(s): She is only 109, when my Shepard is a withered old man, she will still be a young, hot, and ready to "embrace eternity."
Liara's Con(s): The offspring will at most aquire Shepard's abstract traits, but will always be 100% asari.

I loved Jack in me2 and 3! I liked her character progression a lot in me3 it was nice to see her happy. If it wasn't for Miranda she would have been my favorite character. I still wish they would have been squadmates :(

There's always the Armax Arena... Even if their powers are bugged and have no special combat banter.

True I just wish they weren't silent maybe if they just had a few lines they repeated. I still loved the citadel dlc though

How is that so few guys like Jack as a LI?
Sure, I know, she is covered in tats, but she still has the prettiest face, and after Maleshep breaks down her mental/emotional barrier,:crying: you can't help but see her as one of the most loveable characters in the Trilogy.
I see her lovable character as capable of rivaling Tali.

P.S. She is the only female LI that I can recall crying at the thought of losing Shepard. To me, thats very heartwarming.

She reminds me of a stripper I used to date, very passionate relationships but ultimately doomed because mental issues like Jack's usually lead to you being stabbed with a fork while sleeping or some other horrible ending.

I think she has the best end convo in the Citadel DLC and that alone made me reconsider, she says something so simple and sweet like "knock that **** off you're going to win this then you're going to take me dancing." So much better than Ashley's bull**** that I unfortunately heard firstplaythrough: "Go on hero man you'll win and then I'll be waiting for you"  ... real inspiring writing right there...

Word is bond, that line melts my heart.

Even though I hate Jack.
