I did one big playthrough of the series before, and I messed it up in ME3, got a lot of people killed, romanced the wrong person, etc. Just born from inexperience I guess.
And now I want to do another 'perfect' playthrough, if you will. But I'm having trouble.
I made a femshep, got to Mass Effect 2, and, well, completely lost interest in her. The same thing happened when I made a sheploo. I decided that I didn't like my Kaidan/Ashley choice and I didn't like the default face.
So now, here I am, at the Mass Effect 1 creation screen again, completely angry at myself. I honestly just want to get to Mass Effect 3 already. I know it sounds trivial, but there's this one hairstyle I want really badly and I want to hurry up and romance Cortez.
Sigh...
I'm on ps3, so normally I'd just start on ME2 and fill out the comic thing, but that just wouldn't feel complete to me, so I want to do the first game again.
Can't stop rerolling

...the best I can say to you is: have fun with the gameplay while going through ME1-ME2 if you are more oriented through ME3. Skip a couple of dialogues, rush through a couple of missions and just experiment with classes, builds and powers.
It'll be fun. I did this with a quick ME2-ME3 run I did just to experiment a Traynor romance with a Renegade FemShep and it worked just fine.

Also, since I have a lot of problem with my Shep's appearence too, I would like to suggest you to use some already famous face, like the "5-star" faces on masseffect2faces.com or picking your favourite celebrity.
First time I got ME2 I couldn't manage to get to the Suicide Mission with any of my Sheps, after some missions I wasn't satisfied with their looks and rerolled. Then I made a pretty nice-looking Will Smith and I finally found a Shepard I could stand for the whole walkthrough.
So it may not work for you, but if you really can't decide, go for a celebrity or an already well-made face instead of experimenting endlessy with the CC.
