I've seen people complaining about their trust in Bioware, cancelling their Mass Effect 2 pre-order because a DLC(!) for DA:O gets delayed...
Am I the only one missing the point here?
As stated a fair few times by Chris and other Bioware employees, the main DA:O game, the patches, the DLC, the expansion and obviously ME2 are developed by different teams, how can you possibly think ME2 is going to get effed up because a patch for ANOTHER game effed up a savegame (temporarily aswell, I'm sure they will patch that)

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I have a nice deal with my local gameseller, collector's edition for the normal edition price if you pre-order. And from what I've seen, the CE's are nearly sold out in america (in pre-order that is, go figure how popular a game can get)

Again, why would you even THINK about ME2 while a 1 hour (if even that) content DLC gets delayed?
(and don't say 'because its bioware' because it's 2 totally different teams working on 2 total different gmes)

In the end, in a free market you can best vote with your money. That said, I agree it's ridiculous not to buy ME 2 because of DA DLCs. Don't like DLCs, or don't like the delays, don't buy them. That is the only way the customers may be able to bring about change. It doesn't help to boycott some unrelated other product.

I dont think this people CAN even pre-order sth, or are even allowed to play his game.

Cancelling a full game for a missed DLC date is a tad excessive. Disappointed as I am not to have RtO, it isn't that important.

If people want to cancel their Mass Effect 2 pre-orders, good luck to them. They will be missing out on the most fantastic shooter/rpg hybrid since... Mass Effect 1. ZING!

That's exactly what I thought ^^
Tried ME1 after Dragon Age became my first bioware RPG, and I wanted more story epicness, gave ME a go and hottdamn epic game is epic. And 2 will be more of the same goodness with better gfx, more evolved classes, more... MORE EVERYTHING ^^

Makes the DLC look overrated, no?

Because something has been delayed for a whopping 10 days past it's original release date?  Game release dates get delayed. It's a fact of life.  I wish everyone would quit complaining about it and just wait patiently.  Complaining about the delays is not going to make it come any faster.

Noooo its NOT a fact!
You cant tell me, that Duke Nukem Forever was delayed!
Its already finished 5 years ago and constantly updated with better Graphics and Levels!
But the Publishers and Developers wont give it to us, because its such a damn good game, that
they wont share it with A N Y O N E !:mellow::(:crying:

I also find it childish on their part, but anyway it is still the best way to make your voice heard from EA or Bioware; though in this specific case i don't understand what they can obtain considering that Bioware probably had to postpone the DLC due to unforeseen causes

Maybe they don't want to pre-order because they don't think it will be released on the date promised.

I pre-ordered dragon age and got it several days later than it was released, although I don't think Bioware had any hand in that and it was probably more of a shipping problem.

I will just buy ME2 from my trusty games store in the neighbourhood, they usually have the games on the day they are released.

IMO, when people tend to make claims that they are canceling a pre-order for a future game from said developer due to a current issue with a different game I tend to take it will a grain of salt. People get emotional and can be rightly upset at times. In being upset they may make rash decisions and/or exaggerate things. I'd be willing to say that over 50% and closer to 75% if not more of the people who make the claim end up being a person who quietly sticks with their pre-order or later orders the game after having cancelled the original order. Sometimes emotions get the best of us.

"Im not going to buy icecream because BW delayed DLC! Thats it no more njam njam stuff for me! Take that BW."

<--- this is how I see what they did. Not only they didn't get DLC but also they will not get another cool thing.

Most 'im taking my ball and going home' posts come out of frustration and anger. Look at CoD: MW2. How many folks vowed to the ends of the earth that they would boycott and not purchase it? How many said they canceled their pre-orders? And all because of the lack of Ded servers... in the end what happened? A large chunk of the loud 'im taking my ball and going home' folks actually bought the game.

The same will happen with ME 2 - people will vow to the ends of time that they will cancel their pre-orders and not buy any more BioWare games... until the dates come about for the games to be released at least.

People want to play the DLC and Mass Effect 2. Since the first one is delayed, they threaten to cancel their orders for the second one? And then play nothing? Not likely. They will eventually buy both things anyway (while crying of course). So it would be reasonable for them to just buy without pointless threats targeted more at themselves.

Thats called cutting off their noses to spite their faces Yai-Kai.  hehehe  But if they can't get the part that there's different teams doing different things ...and they wish to deny THEMSELVES the ME2 experience, thats their loss ..isn't it?

More silliness from the forum goers here,  act first..think later. :P

But they won't. Such is humanity :D

I doubt they'll even cancel their pre-orders. It's all just bluster and attention seeking really.

People are just getting worked up because they want more DA. They are using the only weapon they have to get their point across, which is their wallet. Most (if not all) of the people saying this will not be doing it, because Dragon Age is one of the rare quality games that only comes out once every few years. If they do walk with their wallets, then this game (most likely) didn't hold their attention very long....although I did hold a grudge against EA for many, MANY years (and I still don't buy EA MMOs) for what they did to Ultima Online....but thats for a different forum.

Probably the only good reason I've seen here for canceling a pre-order.

I stuck to my guns on this one. And I'm glad I did.  MW2 would have to be one of the biggest wastes of money in terms of 2009 games.

Your point is true enough, though.  It's just people whinging cos they can't have what they want right now. I guess I must be expecting too much to want people to behave sensibly.

Agree with both of you guys and really, who cares what you're going to buy or not (for those who are cancelling or not buying) ... join the boycott website or something ... hang youself in a "pé-de-couve" and don't leave until someone rescue you!

And do donate to Haiti despite anything. They Can't Escape the Death They have no food or water and making it through the next days will be a lot harder than waiting for a DLC!

People don't always do things that are logical.

And what about the fact that DAO itself was delayed?

I hate waiting, but I'd rather have a good product than a buggy one. "Worth waiting for".

But, these people are free do either buy or not buy the game. I don't care either way.
