I'll go general here:
ME1 = Assault Rifles
ME2 = Locust
Me3 = Mattock, until I got the Harrier, until I got the Lancer.

Assault rifle, Engineer here. I just enjoy wielding the iconic Mass Effect assault rifle in combat, and it didn't break my immersion when cutscenes which defaulted to the Assault rifle was shown. :)

I always went sniper rifles, i guess because my first Shepard was an infiltrator i just got used to em. I'll have to give Assault rifles a try, I never really used them past ME1.

In ME2 I went Shotgun for my engineer, as I play TF2 and default to that combo (even though I never use the shotgun, POMSON TO VICTORY/ANGRY MEDICS)

Have to say though, the M-90 Indra is my new favorite weapon. It's rapid enough to feel useful against shields, and quite the fun little gun overall. It's become my engineer's staple weapon, in ME2 though I used the Scimitar. ME1 I used the rapid fire assault rifle- I mean pistol

ME2:
Adept - chose sniper rifle.

ME3:
Adept - assault rifle, usually didn't bother with another weapon.

Once you go Sentinel you can... not go Sentinel :P. I tried engineer, tried all others but I need my biotics AND my tech powers.

Me1: Obvious rifle X

ME2: Depends, Vindicator, Tempest, Mattock

ME3: Valkyrie that is the N7 weaponry, rifle, or Pistol... the smg never liked it, can't really fire it well myself.

Assault rifle training and the geth pulse rifle, generally.

Goes right out the window for 3, though.

Shotguns. Although probably not the most efficient team, I had a lot of fun with Legion and his drone providing long-range cover while Tali and I, plus our drones, pincer attacked some mother ****ers with shotguns.

Engineer and shotguns. The combination of the tech powers and a shotgun made my Shep ungodly powerful.

ME2 Engineer (just imported from ME1 on Thursday): M-76 Revenant.

...what? I have the Gibbed Save Editor! Feck the limits! I also plan on using it to remove/stall the Post-IFF Timer (the one that triggers the Collector Attack) so I can take Legion on recruitment/loyalty missions without losing my crew or breaking the story.

You can do this w/out the editor.  I have done so many times.  You just have to go straight to the Loyalty Mission after Legion is added.

Engineer:  Assault Rifle, not really picky since I rarely shoot much.

Sentinel:  Geth Plasma Shotgun.

Adept:  Haven't done this one, yet.

Engineer - Sniper Rifle training in ME2.

My Engineer carried the Hurricane and Eagle around in ME3, but for a few missions, carried the Vailant and the Valiant only.

Just want to point out that if you took a weapon skill as your bonus ability in ME1, that kind of defeats the purpose of unlocking the training in ME2....

If my Engineer was using Sniper Rifles in ME1, there's no reason she should suddenly need training for it in ME2. :pinched:

What weapon were you most excited about using after the Colelctor Ship in ME2

Sentinel: Eviscerator (that thing was like a mini-Claymore, when upgraded, and given AP-ammo).
Engineer: Viper SR.
Adept: Viper SR... for some reason, the way I used Engi and Adept powers tended to keep enemies at a distance. No clue why, but for that reason, I needed a gun that would just pick them off. I miss the ME2 Viper.

and/or the new weapson weight/cooldown system in ME3?

It could be a specific weapon or even just the class. How many engineers were stoked to finally rip through enemies with an assault rifle? Adepts excited to carry around the Widow in ME3? How many sentinels went heavy armor/shotgun combo?

You know it!

Sentinel... the Eviscerator don't cut it no more. Once I got my hands on the Wraith I was right back at home. Terminus Armor for the durability and melee-damage, my Sentinel is a brawler. I beat the hell out of anything that's not an armored boss (and sometimes even those!)

Adept... meh, got tired of it after Mars.

Engi... same deal as last time. Troll the battlefield from a distance, pick-off enemies with a sniper-rifle (Valiant).

I always picked Assault Rifles for every class that couldn't use them initially and I'm glad we're able to use 'em immediately from the start in ME3. I had quite some fun playing as a Sentinel with Tech Armor, Defense Matrix and a Revenant, for example. And for Engineers and Adepts, the Vindicator + stability and scope mods is a huge help, especially because powers tend to be inaccurate at long range while the light weight of the Vindicator helps keep your cooldowns low.

I've been using Assault Rifles on my Engineer since my second run of ME1 (the first was a standard soldier to learn the ropes). I loved using the Mattock in ME2, and when I upgraded my PC when ME3 came out I edited ME2 to swap my SMG for Assault Rifles.

Engineers with Assault Rifles just work really well. Powers strip the defence and your rifle finishes them off. A Heavy Pistol makes a good sidearm. Combine this with Armour Piercing Ammo as a bonus power and it's damn good fun. I find it hard to enjoy anything else now.

Am I the only one who plays as a semi-tank Adept?

Mass Effect 1

Bonus talent: Assault Rifles.
Weapons of choice: HMWA Master line or Pulse Rifle.

Mass Effect 2

Bonus talent: Barrier.
Advanced training: Assault Rifles.
Weapons of choice: Mattock, Locust, Phalanx and Particle Beam.

Mass Effect 3

Bonus talent: Defense Matrix.
Tip: Reset your powers in ME2 before importing, and completely evolve Defense Matrix (shield bonus, shield recharge, power recharge) before anything else. That way, the impact on power recharge will be minimal.
Ammo powers: evolve the squad versions of your squad's ammo powers.
Passive skills: Don't forget to maximize your Weight Capacity as soon as possible.
Weapon of choice: Cerberus Harrier V, modded with a Magazine Upgrade and a Piercing Mod, as your sole weapon or coupled with an Ultralight SMG

I was about to start a Vanguard trilogy playthrough, but after watching AverageGatsby's Sniper Engineer in action, I now have second thoughts. Engie + M-97 Viper looks so much fun!

What a coincidence. I'm currently playing ME1 as a Sniper Engineer, with the HMWSR X. I'm planning to use the Viper or the Incisor in ME2 and  the Indra coupled with the Phalanx in ME3.

adepts and engineers get assault rifles.

sentinels get shotguns.

I don't play as these classes very much though. I prefer the combat oriented classes. Though I am doing an adept run through of the trilogy at the moment.

I loved avenger in both ME2 and ME3. There is just something really nice about that gun. Otherwise the Revenant or Mattock. Or the Harrier in ME3. They just have the right amount of punch.

I was a sentinel, and really happy to get to use my mattock. Same in ME3, only used an assault rifle and a light weight SMG.

Sentinel through and through

ME1 - Assault Rifle (Spectre)
ME2 - Locust SMG  (and sniper rilfe training during the collector mission)
ME3 - N7 Valiant Sniper Rifle (long range) and Biotic Combos (up close)!!!! Biotic combos are so much fun!!!! It's what makes being a sentinel (especially with Liara at Shepard's side) such a blast in ME3!!!

(Sometimes I use the Cerberus Harrier Assault Rifle, in place of the Valiant, depending on the mission.)
